If you are in Kolkata, don't forget to visit the suburbs like Serampore which was a Danish Colony and Chandannagar which was a French colony. It's a 30 min train ride from Howrah station.

Nearly 7 decades ago my parents from Trichy, Tamil Nadu came here and I am part of Bengal's rich culture that has practically turned me a Bengal-Tamilian person since my birth around 5 decades and a half. People often compare this part of India with the rest with all negativities without knowing geographical impediments the state is having. It once attracted both educated peofessionals as well as daily workers and offered immense potentials in industries that saw natural clossures due to evolving advancements and demands of daily life. However, having said that, one has to agree that the metropolies of Kolkata has opened new avenues too and made considerable progress. One should not keep a blind eyes to the facts. Anyway, I enjoyed your coverage. Kudos 😊

Winter is a very pleasant time to be in Kolkata. Temp goes down to about 11 degrees at night and highest stays around 26 degress in the day. Book fairs and other leisurely activities grips the city.

@@Saanjh-Kumari you can stay at a decent pg. You can get a good one at around 7-8k per month inside the city. The old architectural houses are present only in north kolkata mainly. In south Kolkata there are more malls, hospitals, mode of transport than north Kolkata. North Kolkata for leisurely walks inside alleys that will take you a century back. Central kolkata has got historical buildings which are being used regularly for office spaces.

In sundays the Borobazar area and major working sectors of Kolkata are less crowded because of the markets and offices are closed. If you get there in weekdays it will be very busy.

Terribly dirty around the howrah bridge and railways station. Its difficult to fight with a state govt that actively tries to bring in immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar to vote in favour of them. I think Europe is understanding now, where i am and the people who want to keep their culture intact, are coming from.
By the way Vishuddha I really do enjoy seeing all those beautiful architectual styles you showed us. I saw other nice architectual styles in Udaipur and Amer near Jaipur as well as in Jaipur. What to say of Old Varanasi on the ghats and alleyways. The GopRo will usually overheat as it happened to me in hot places in Mexico and Colombia.

Man you should visit kolkata durning sharadiya festival . Specifically durring these 5 amazing golden nights . 1) maha shashti 2) maha saptami 3) maha ashtami 4) maha navami 5) vijaya dashami These 5 days are not just a festival for us . This is our emotion. And these 5 days (night time) feels like heaven . And don't forget to visit shobhabazar shutanuti ( sonagachi red light area 🌚 🌚 🌚 )
Kolkata is not empty … you are out at the wrong time .. the place you showed for the first five minutes are the main office areas and that’s why you couldn’t see a lot of people there .. if you could have walked a little more to Chandni’s chowk you would have been surprised 🤣🤣 just 5 mins walk from Dalhousie (the place you were at)! Terribly dirty around the howrah bridge and railways station. Its difficult to fight with a state govt that actively tries to bring in immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar to vote in favour of them. I think Europe is understanding now, where i am and the people who want to keep their culture intact, are coming from.
By the way Vishuddha I really do enjoy seeing all those beautiful architectual styles you showed us. I saw other nice architectual styles in Udaipur and Amer near Jaipur as well as in Jaipur. What to say of Old Varanasi on the ghats and alleyways. The GopRo will usually overheat as it happened to me in hot places in Mexico and Colombia.

Kolkata is not empty … you are out at the wrong time .. the place you showed for the first five minutes are the main office areas and that’s why you couldn’t see a lot of people there .. if you could have walked a little more to Chandni’s chowk you would have been surprised 🤣🤣 just 5 mins walk from Dalhousie (the place you were at)!

Kolkata is a beautiful city but the problem is a lot of waste in the Mallick Ghat and surrounding areas. Also, I heard that Howrah is one of the dirtiest place in India. Truly a bad government in WB.
