This prefab/ 3 day house timeline is potentially a game changer IF and only IF we are able to source 80% or more of the building materials in Nigeria. Otherwise, I cannot sign off on an "imported house" when we already have ample materials on ground to build our houses. Certain fixtures being imported are understandable (e.g., lighting and doors) but the vast bulk of the materials must be sourced in Nigeria to protect our housing industry and enhance job growth in this vital sector of the Nigerian economy.

This video really excites me because am a black female architect based in Southern Africa and got certification to design using light weight steel. She may have used a Chinese company but the best places to source the machinery is FrameCAD or Scottsdale both based in New Zealand. You can order your machine and they give you training so you can hire locals and teach them that technology. I hope more people open up to this type of construction. It's definitely the way to go!

Nevertheless you also have to look at the Design and their target customers. They're not looking for poor people (excuse me the terms). That being said their aim is first to demonstrate technology and even if they had to use a different system to carry the water tank it would had affected the design of the house. meanwhile their objective is to create something that reduce dependency to the external world. Also remember they're having a sewages system with another tank (underground). The house is more to demonstrate technology innovation than to reduce cost.

This is the future of housing in Africa. The Germans have been doing this all over the world for a while. Brilliant presentation too - the lady's cadence is soothing to the ears.
The Europeans are doing all sorts of things that Africa has not caught on about yet. Hempcrete, Aircrete, Precious Plastic a cooperative that has open source plans on how to convert plastics into build blocks that fit together like Legos. Cork Cladding, Rammed Earth, All Bamboo built homes. Africa get with the program, all of the knowledge to create buildings out of these materials are on UA-cam.
Great to see that people are thinking of ways to treat sewage and reuse it rather than just dumping it in the ocean. These are big projects that the government's should be spending money and researching. With a population of over 200 million we can't just keep dumping our sewage in the sea, that is just a ticking time bomb in the making.
Absolutely love this house and the woman presenting it! It’s great to see sustainable and modern houses being built in Africa, rather than it being solely a YT people thing (I’m from the UK and Black people aren’t represented in the sustainable housing industry so forgive my ignorance). It would be great to see the materials coming from Nigeria and other African countries though as there’s more than enough, plus the skills and labour to go with it.
All I'm thinking about is how this could be mass produced to tackle the housing deficit in Lagos. Instead of building for the select few. Strip down all the extras. Design a nice 3bed at 15-20m excluding land. I would be interested by them
I don’t think there’s a house deficit in Lagos, there’s just greedy developers who hike house prices because of profits. There are so many empty brand new houses that the average Nigerian cannot even afford to rent talk more of buying.

I want a house like this. Sturdy, renewable, green energy, new and amazing. I'm impressed that it took 80 hours for the house to be completed. To be honest with you mostly everybody do brick and mortar with slight insulation and forms of metal and they will assemble houses with bamboo poles around the house, so seeing this house to me and is inspiring because it just opens up a new wave of imagination and the house looks awesome I always want to go ahead and save the planet anyway I can. What are you really embracing? Look behind the curtain and see what it is you’re “buying” - this is your doom. The house is NOT built with any architectural elements, it is cold and ugly and makes no sense. The company that owns this is Chinese and I bet everyone involved is Chinese save this girl that is doing the sales. The light steel is just a lower grade of steel and still requires Carbon and Iron, so more mining, more large scale deforestation and environmental degradation in the name of Green. This is just a green washed lie. You’d be better off growing large scale SPF for residential construction and harvesting every ten years than this non-sense. What she doesn’t tell you in her lies is that brick only causes heat-loss at the seams where the R values are low, so things like windows and doors otherwise masonry is a great building material and this is readily available in Africa. You just have to use higher R-value doors and windows to pair with masonry that already has very high R-values, compared to manufactured board laced with plastics that China so cleverly wants to recycle as a building material. The plastic is not as breathable and over time is leaking chemicals into your HVAC system due to the science of heating and contraction. Nigeria has no environmental protection standards, so there are no Nigerian scientists that are regulating this, the Chinese just sneak this in containers and boom 💥 you bug, cause it’s so ADVANCED. If this takes off the Chinese just get richer, Africa loses its natural resources that with the coming tide air will become more valuable than gold - this is why the EU is growing it’s forests by 40% in the next 50 years. The worst SIN of all is that when you use foreign Architects and Engineers, you by-pass local talent. Nigeria has these professionals in spades. This brain drain means that the 10 labourers she so easily paraded are permanently at the bottom of the food chain. If you had a Nigerian Architect and Engineer mentor 10 Nigerian labourers you would end up with 10 Nigerian construction companies. The Chinese are just going to make you feel worthless and a lesser class in your own country. The technology they bring you, they learnt from somewhere else yet they proudly scribble their Chinese script on it and program in Chinese etc. This will kill your economy as it doesn’t allow for indigenous integration. I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy is being paid for the video. Elevate if you are, become a crusader to save yourself as UA-cam will pay you either way, investigate what is happening to you before it’s too late. This girl is a snake charmer, she is promoting Chinese colonialism at the expense of an “elevated class”. This house is a callous ugly structure designed by disrespectful Chinese to sell their products and further their interests in Africa. If those are OSBs that were used to cover the steel framing then I doubt if it will be cheaper. OSB and in fact all engineered boards cost a whole lot. She did mention it's for the elite. That settled, it doesn't solve the main housing issue we have here.

This is not a new architectural fit. Houses in America are built in the same format but the difference is that what we have here are built with weather specifications and are more vulnerable than the one in this video. As a construction professional, i will take this with a mixed feeling. Why? Because although one could start and finish a project fast, the labour market will suffer (lesser jobs opportunities). I have seen this trend growing especially in developed countries especially in Germany but honestly, most professionals are really not happy because they see their jobs on the line. But anyway, technology is the future. Any young person reading this should make sure that they are technically trained in order to find jobs in the fast growing technology world take over.

All I'm thinking about is how this could be mass produced to tackle the housing deficit in Lagos. Instead of building for the select few. Strip down all the extras. Design a nice 3bed at 15-20m excluding land. I would be interested by them
I don’t think there’s a house deficit in Lagos, there’s just greedy developers who hike house prices because of profits. There are so many empty brand new houses that the average Nigerian cannot even afford to rent talk more of buying.
Developers are private entities, housing deficits is a job to be done by the government, and last I checked, that’s not in their agenda

I want a house like this. Sturdy, renewable, green energy, new and amazing. I'm impressed that it took 80 hours for the house to be completed. To be honest with you mostly everybody do brick and mortar with slight insulation and forms of metal and they will assemble houses with bamboo poles around the house, so seeing this house to me and is inspiring because it just opens up a new wave of imagination and the house looks awesome I always want to go ahead and save the planet anyway I can. This right here is an excellent video.

What are you really embracing? Look behind the curtain and see what it is you’re “buying” - this is your doom. The house is NOT built with any architectural elements, it is cold and ugly and makes no sense. The company that owns this is Chinese and I bet everyone involved is Chinese save this girl that is doing the sales.
The light steel is just a lower grade of steel and still requires Carbon and Iron, so more mining, more large scale deforestation and environmental degradation in the name of Green. This is just a green washed lie. You’d be better off growing large scale SPF for residential construction and harvesting every ten years than this non-sense. What she doesn’t tell you in her lies is that brick only causes heat-loss at the seams where the R values are low, so things like windows and doors otherwise masonry is a great building material and this is readily available in Africa. You just have to use higher R-value doors and windows to pair with masonry that already has very high R-values, compared to manufactured board laced with plastics that China so cleverly wants to recycle as a building material. The plastic is not as breathable and over time is leaking chemicals into your HVAC system due to the science of heating and contraction. Nigeria has no environmental protection standards, so there are no Nigerian scientists that are regulating this, the Chinese just sneak this in containers and boom 💥 you bug, cause it’s so ADVANCED. If this takes off the Chinese just get richer, Africa loses its natural resources that with the coming tide air will become more valuable than gold - this is why the EU is growing it’s forests by 40% in the next 50 years.
The worst SIN of all is that when you use foreign Architects and Engineers, you by-pass local talent. Nigeria has these professionals in spades. This brain drain means that the 10 labourers she so easily paraded are permanently at the bottom of the food chain. If you had a Nigerian Architect and Engineer mentor 10 Nigerian labourers you would end up with 10 Nigerian construction companies. The Chinese are just going to make you feel worthless and a lesser class in your own country. The technology they bring you, they learnt from somewhere else yet they proudly scribble their Chinese script on it and program in Chinese etc. This will kill your economy as it doesn’t allow for indigenous integration.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy is being paid for the video. Elevate if you are, become a crusader to save yourself as UA-cam will pay you either way, investigate what is happening to you before it’s too late. This girl is a snake charmer, she is promoting Chinese colonialism at the expense of an “elevated class”. This house is a callous ugly structure designed by disrespectful Chinese to sell their products and further their interests in Africa. Masonry is sustainable, develop these mechanical systems yourself locally and multiply economy from a $0.5T to $5T powerhouse. This is how the USA learnt to do it in the Gilden Age, this is how China learnt to do it from the Americans. Don’t learn from the Chinese, there are better ways and better systems.

If those are OSBs that were used to cover the steel framing then I doubt if it will be cheaper. OSB and in fact all engineered boards cost a whole lot. She did mention it's for the elite. That settled, it doesn't solve the main housing issue we have here.

This is not a new architectural fit. Houses in America are built in the same format but the difference is that what we have here are built with weather specifications and are more vulnerable than the one in this video. It definitely is a great innovation but on a higher standard than the ones here in America. Kudos to the builders.

As a construction professional, i will take this with a mixed feeling. Why? Because although one could start and finish a project fast, the labour market will suffer (lesser jobs opportunities). I have seen this trend growing especially in developed countries especially in Germany but honestly, most professionals are really not happy because they see their jobs on the line. But anyway, technology is the future. Any young person reading this should make sure that they are technically trained in order to find jobs in the fast growing technology world take over.
