The Honeycombs sing That's The Way live in 1965 recorded from Sweden's TV show 'Drop in' visit www.NostalgiaStore.co.uk for more Honeycomb and 1960's hits.
Shows their exceptional talent. Great song, great vocals and instrumentation. Shows Honey was not just a great drummer, sharing lead vocals with Dennis on a beautiful song. May they both rest in peace.
I thoroughly agree! That voice is up there with Mamma Cass and Grace Slick. I'd have loved to have heard her with a song where she could go full out. And OMG she is so *cute* when she sings "..I love you..."!
I was very young when 'Have I the right?' was a hit; loved it when heard on the radio over the years .... BUT had never heard this song before ... Wow! I love the song, their voices, the harmonies and the tight instripumentalists. First rate!
Have been one of my very favorite groups since I first heard Have I The Right as a kid . Mid-60's was the tail end of the greatest "classical" pop ever made.....
For me, this wonderful tune is one the great songs of the sixties. Wonderfully produced by Joe Meek and featuring the magnificent voices of Denis D'Ell and Honey Lantree.
+StationOfdreams - Could not agree more - a brilliant tune Written by British songwriter duo Alan Blaikley and Ken Howard; the B side was Cant Get Through To You;
This band was so far ahead of their time, people just weren't ready for them. This song should have been a no.1 hit. Years later, the Animals were at this level. They were just too sophisticated for the public in their time .
She truly was a trail blazer wasn`t she !, when you stop and think about it, we didn`t really see the likes of Anne Margot Coxall again until ( to my knowledge at least ) Don Henley or Phil Collins when it came to singing and drumming, and on top of that of course, she was the first female drummer, (again, that i know of ).
People used to think that she faked it and it was recorded and she couldn’t drum until a live concert. LOL. Her brother was the bass player as a little bit of trivia.
She actually sang quite a bit and eventually took over the lead on vocals but the band was soon to split not long after as the music scene was changing and like many bands, even today, they failed to adjust.
@@nicklewis6794 The Rolling Stones never adjusted nor changed, same as the SImon and Garfunkel or Bob Dylan, when you are good already you remain true to your gold and dont tinker it with Kraut techno alloys, etc no matter what Phil Spector tells your band "needs" to try new/change. That SoB almost ruined The Ramones and that is difficult and sounds insane impossible, but he almost did and they quitted. Thankfully they did not and returned back to shape, against all the Commercial Industry boooing that "Punk was dead" because they wanted them dead. Music never dies, and these guys crafted some good and mean tunes, Honeycomb gold.
@@julieford148 Yes. It is so much auto tune rubbish. Ak most of them to sing live and they can't do it without auto tune. They might as well be some comic character with A I computer generated noise thay call singing.
Really saddened to read that Anne (Honey) Lantree died on Friday. She didn't have long in the limelight, but she provided an early role model for girls who wanted to be members of a band and not just a pretty face behind the microphone. She could sing too - just a pity that the Honeycombs were signed to Pye which took a pretty short term view of the careers of most of the artists on its rosta.
They harmonize together beautifully. May they both rest in peace.
Thats the way .Life in the 60s was so different.
Whatever happened to the world we now live in .
indeed
Meek forever!
Anne Margot Coxall, aka Honey Lantree, drummer and singer, born 28 August 1943, died 23 December 2018. R.I.P., Honey, you were the best!
Agreed.
She was definitely NOT!!! A GIMMICK.
@@jamesgorski7551 Not a gimmick! She was a technically great drummer! Spent years learning her craft!
Beautyful Song with his special sound
Ground breaking. Anne Margot Coxall .( Honey Lantree ).
Great music of a very special era ..
Shows their exceptional talent. Great song, great vocals and instrumentation. Shows Honey was not just a great drummer, sharing lead vocals with Dennis on a beautiful song. May they both rest in peace.
This song just get to me, may they RIP.
Above 👆 Comments So True 🎉 For Janet❤️🔥😊🎉
Honey had a beautiful crystal clear voice X❤.
Very unusual how Dennis takes the high part and Honey takes the lower part.
Just an incredible band. Their 1964 debut album is one of the top 10 in my collection of thousands.
She was a pioneer as female rock drummer.
The jazz-style stick hand - a sign of real talent. She could play with ANYBODY.
I was a soldier in Germany just then. thank you, What a delight.
I love this song!! This definitely should have gotten more airplay in the US. Fabulous!!
Their timing was perfect. How did I miss this great band?
I was 8 years old when this song was released. Still as great now 60 years later, where have all those years gone.
They should have sang together more often Honey has a good voice never heard her sing 🎤 on her own 👍🥰🇬🇧
Honey sang lead on "Something I got to tell you". Amazing voice!!!!!
This was the one of the most underrated bands, of this great era. A GREAT!!!! song and what a combination of Honey and Denis.
I fully agree stephen larson. The Honeycombs are one of the most underrated bands in history.
Great voice Honey Langtree - and those London Burns guitars - bliss.
Honey is a great drummer, and her duet with Dennis is one of the best I've ever heard
I thoroughly agree! That voice is up there with Mamma Cass and Grace Slick. I'd have loved to have heard her with a song where she could go full out.
And OMG she is so *cute* when she sings "..I love you..."!
*was a great drummer
I'm 75 and I think this is the first time I've heard this song. I love it!!
No matter the many number of years ago this was released, the appeal of this number is timeless.
I forgot how much I love this song.
PROPER MUSIC❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love their voices and smiles. Great song.
I was very young when 'Have I the right?' was a hit; loved it when heard on the radio over the years .... BUT had never heard this song before ... Wow! I love the song, their voices, the harmonies and the tight instripumentalists. First rate!
Hello Sonia, How are you doing?
i think " that's the way" was on the flip side of "have i the right", will have to check my copy, yes still got it after all these years.
Shame about Mr meek a gentleman and genius god bless him
@@davidshenton5616 no that's the way was a hit in 1965 have I the right was a separate single and was number one in 1964
Also try "Colour Slide" off the same album if you haven't heard it - my co-favorite tune of theirs.
What a drummer beauful and brilliant
Dennis D' Ell really has a really outstanding voice, what a fantastic vocalist, just beyond words!
👍🎯👏
Have been one of my very favorite groups since I first heard Have I The Right as a kid . Mid-60's was the tail end of the greatest "classical" pop ever made.....
Singing and concentrating on drumming at the same time is quite an accomplishment! Brilliant job Dennis and Honey.
Their voices blend so well together.
In trouble times I come back to listen for comfort
Wow why wasn’t this a hit? Fantastic
Was in the uk ,
The way their voices combine and interact are wonderful. It's the technique that Lennon and McCartney often ran with too.
When you can sing and harmonize, not to mention write songs, like John Lennon and Paul McCartney....it's wise to run with that combination :-)
This is very nicely done. Love Honey's voice, "It's just the Way!"
Lots of lovely memories of the Honeycombs ..just fabulous music in the 60s
Sometimes voices are meant to be together.
Haven't heard this for years. Honey and Denis sing beautifully. Thank you.
O.M.G. this takes me back. So long since I heard this.
Honey.,OMG not only talented but gorgeous as well.
For me, this wonderful tune is one the great songs of the sixties. Wonderfully produced by Joe Meek and featuring the magnificent voices of Denis D'Ell and Honey Lantree.
+StationOfdreams - Could not agree more - a brilliant tune Written by British songwriter duo Alan Blaikley and Ken Howard; the B side was Cant Get Through To You;
+StationOfdreams Totally agree with you, this is just as good (if not better) than their No 1, Have I The Right.
Absolutely. When i heard it, i was 14 again. Streams of nostalgy, could i ever go back to those days of a simple life, no worries, no problems.
The Golden days of music
What class and such fun times wish we could have it all again
one of the best from the 60s
He had some cheekbones
Wow Honey Lantree had a great voice back in the day. Thanks for posting.
Beats the crap they push as music these days ; CLASS , pop music , but real artistry , TIMELESS !!!
I agree. Those were the best years of pop music and memorable songs.
SOUNDS FRESH!!!!!!!!!! NEVER BORING!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant talent and no auto tune just raw talent
All bands use auto tune.
Honey looks like am angel and sings like one to. RIP lovely lady
A MARVELOUS TUNE I LOVE THE HARMONIES BY HONEY AND DENIS. WISH IT HAD BEEN PLAYED MORE HERE IN THE U.S.
Wow, Honey was a good singer as well as drummer here. Love it and love her. I just like the Honeycombs.
SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER
Brilliant harmony , cracking record !
Nagyon tetszik a dal szuper nagyon szeretem a dalait hallgatni nyugodjatok békében soha nem feledjük el❤.
Fabulous harmonies, what a lovely song.
my favorite duet ever
R.I.P. Denis and Honey.
This band was so far ahead of their time, people just weren't ready for them. This song should have been a no.1 hit. Years later, the Animals were at this level. They were just too sophisticated for the public in their time .
Wonderful drumming a real natural talent and great duet with Dennis

Great song and Honey Lantree is she gorgeous or what.
Surf Rebel 57 your not kidding!!!!
I always thought that she was so hot ... and she can play the drums very well!
Indubitably! (Is that the way to spell that word, Watson?)
Yes, I always thought that she was terribly "hot". She also had a nice voice and was a talented drummer.
She was gorgeous, that's for sure and she could beat the hell out of those skins. A beautiful voice to boot. RIP Honey.
WOW great to see this, always loved Honey, what a classy looking lady.
Nice group - with nice songs. Denis was so good-looking, too.
great harmonies!!
Such a lovely song
Excellent song-RIP Honey and Dennis
Very outstanding group. Outstanding pirformance. Brilliant x🌹
Wow, so very nice, surprised I've never heard this one before. I wonder if it ever made it to the radio in the states?
This grp was always under rated in my opinion
This is my favourite mix group
Fantastic harmonies
Legends. 👏🏻
its years since i heard this song ,,i would like to have sung with these guys ,,,,,x
Great duet! They should have let Honey sing more.
She actually sang quite a bit and eventually took over the lead on vocals but the band was soon to split not long after as the music scene was changing and like many bands, even today, they failed to adjust.
@@nicklewis6794 if the "scene" is different, and that isnt them...then why adjust. they fade gracefully

It would be nice to have some of these songs re-released love these secret hidden gems.
They are a wonderful group! I remember Have I the Right. This one is great too!
Never heard this song until now, but I love it.
They got little recognition but the vocal talent is something that is largely missing today in most songs.
There is no vocal talent today!! All auto tune

Awesome!
i wish i could have sung this rather romantic love song ,,, long live the 60s era lol xx
Love the pre-production video ;-) Drop In was very good! Loads of episodes here on UA-cam. Producer Joe Meek is a music ICON, and quite rightly
what a unique great band and drummer!
What a great time to be a kid, I'm just a big kid now ❤️
Wonderful harmony pity they did not sing more together
Honey had a great voice may she RIP 🌹
Perfect voice harmony
beautiful
Hmm left handed guitarist, changes the optic of synchronised turn, that is so well executed in “Have I The Right”.
Honey had a cheeky smile on this video
Awesome song 1965
one of the best duet at of that years .simple and nice .
Very rare to hear this but well worth it.
Good song. Reminds me of being 8 years old.

Just wonderful !
Love this song brings back memories of my college days in Beeston notts
What man wouldn't want to hear Honey Lantree singing "I love you" to him?
Uno de los primeros grupos en recurrir a una dama como baterista.
Brilliant song fantastic band ⭐️👍
RIP Honey & Denis! Btw, how about to the bass guitar? Those were the good times! Hug from a 72 years old Hungarian!
Geweldig 16-08-2023.
