- Sandie Shaw, MBE (born Sandra Ann Goodrich; 26 February 1947) is an English singer. One of the most successful British female singers of the 1960s, she had three UK number one singles with "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" (1964), "Long Live Love" (1965) and "Puppet on a String" (1967). With "Puppet on a String", she became the first British entry to win the Eurovision Song Contest. She returned to the UK top 40, for the first time in 15 years, with her 1984 cover of the Smiths song "Hand in Glove". Shaw announced her retirement from the music industry in 2013.
Who else is here in 2024 because of Jade Thirlwall 👋🏻
👋
Meeeee
Who?
No, I came here after listening to 'Alfie' by Lily Allen
Me... can't wait for Angel Of My Dreams
Mittendrin. GUTE schöne alte Zeit. ALT ? NIEMALS Danke für Deine wundervolle Musik 🎶 🎶 🎶
One of United Kingdom’s best entries, great song and singer, she was brilliant.
She hated the song unfortunately
song is bad
@@robowizard6132 it was good for the time and she won for uk .
Go brexit 🇬🇧
One of the top 3 Eurovision songs ever.
A different time and a different vibe and look
* Puppet On A String (1967)
Sung by Sandie Shaw
I wonder if one day that, you'll say that, you care
If you say you love me madly, I'll gladly, be there
Like a puppet on a string
Love is just like a merry-go-round With all the fun of a fair
One day I'm feeling down on the ground
Then I'm up in the air
Are you leading me on?
Tomorrow will you be gone?
I may win on the roundabout
Then I'll lose on the swings
In or out, there is never a doubt
Just who's pulling the strings
I'm all tied up in you
But where's it leading me to?
I know it's crazy but she looks exactly like my year six teacher back in the day, her perfume used to make my head spin. A darling, kind young woman I have never forgotten.
Sandie was so tall. Even most of the young men there cannot match her height. Not to mention she was a great singer.
Inesquecível. Saudações de Aveiro-Portugal.
Che forte....che anni formidabili......
Natural, so natural a singer, and best of times
Everyone here for Jade comment where ur from🤍🌎

Great happy song well done by a talented artist
Me encanta tengo 22 años

Fantastic. 👍Bravissima.
I wonder if these people are still around at this time...2024
I am lol (I was 17 then, 74 now... still 17 in my head though:)
i love this england is the best
Preciosa cancion❤
Sandie Shaw, my favourite English female singer. No-one came close to her charisma and style. This is not her best song though.
it won eurovision, great song
@@wentoneisendon6502 The UK's first ever winner, 1967.
This song after Last Night In Soho get a little bit dark..🙃
🙃
Damn right…
Sandie Shaw❤
First came here from last night in soho. Now from Jade Thirlwall.
Très belle !
Reminds how my Italian husband treated me .
that song was very popular in the 70this in Bulgaria

Cómo me gusta esta cancion
I know the song but have never heard the name.

Vengo por Soho
Most of them look like they didn't want to be there!
I was not expecting Jade Thirlwall to bring the UK’s first ever Eurovision winner to the front in 2024 ❤
Even in mid seventies still rocking
Jade sampling Puppet On A String is such a MASTERMIND MOVE #AngelOfMyDreams
which part did she sample? i cant figure it out
@@milliemorley6299 well.. the sample is quite literal?? the part of "i wonder if one day that you'll say that you care, if you say you love me madly" it's literally copypasted as the intro of jade's song. then multiple vocals are sampled throughout the song
@@sergiocarrilloruiz5793 it was just a question damn I’ve only heard it on the radio but listened to full version and I can hear it now😭 be nice damn
@@sergiocarrilloruiz5793later on when she’s wearing the red wig after getting hit by the chair, they sampled the song again, slowed down, and played in the background like it’s just the music, but it’s there.
@@milliemorley6299 I think it's more that the melody is quoted, it's pretty subtle
Here for Jade 😭
Who's here for Jade?
Stupid
Gay
Here for JADE!! 2024 x
Before Jade, Lily Allen also sampled this gem in her 2009 (?) single "Alfie"
Omg you're RIGHT!
Think it was around 2007, though
Don't think it was directly sampled but it's blatantly referenced for sure.
Can't wait to see what Jade has done with this 👀
did you like what she did??
JADE goergy huns like button
Apparently i’m not the only one who came here ‘cause of Jade
you're not 🙂
here for Jade 🙏🏻
What part of the song does jade sample?
I dont know but i'm here because of her haha
But I think the "aaaah" part
the beginning
Miss Thirlwall did her HOMEWORK
Looking for JADE 🩷
angel of my dreams brought me here
Jade 🪽
she was very beautiful and full of energy. Her voice was awesome. This song really cheers me up when I am feeling low
What a catchy song from 1967,one of the best Eurovision winners ever and one of the UKs few winners.
Sandie Shaw was one of my favourite female singers from the 60s.
Agree with all of that except one of the UK's few winners? Don't be too hard on our form - the UK has won it five times - only Ireland and Sweden have won it more. We are the perennial runners-up, though - 16 times! We were robbed with Cliff Richards' Congratulations and Sonia's Better The Devil You Know. And Gina G only came eight!
Música linda

1967, I remember, I was standing on this world already.....and I had one of her LP, this song was in it ..and she was barefoot on the cover, wearing a miniskirt, ofcourse, what else if not ...?? 😄.....
I'm here by Jade's guidance...
Loved her madly and I am 77 now.
well, she is 77 now too. Maybe she loves you madly too.

This song demands to be heard over and over!
You would be pleased to know that her "Sandie Shaw" & The "Pretty things" came to New Zealand in 1965 & & I had the pleasure of being on stage with her. The "Pretty Things" were drunk & throwing lit matches at the curtains, it did not go down well with the police or fire department I was in a group called "Judge Wayne & the Convicts" yep I'm still here
Oh it is, I can assure you.
I'm 17, my parents had this song on a CD whenever we'd go on long drives somewhere when i was little. Lovely song 10/10
Here 4 jade #angelofmydreams
She is certainly in her own zone. She is not the least bothered by the antics of the young people who are not sure whether to dance, clap or move around at all. She totally ignores them and focuses on her song.
It was like that in the 60s. We could gather around performers and sing along with them. This group also clapped and varied the beat, which is a hallmark of Puppet on a String - a playful, variable tempo.
It’s not only because of the 60s but the meaning of the message the didn’t know how to react. Puppet on a string says everything about Elite pulling the strings of the puppets like politics, film- and music industry, bankers and so much more in a corrupt world
Yeah, she made what she wants to do, great and funny crazy 😜😜😜🇩🇪
*Focuses on lip-synching to her song.
Well; they didn’t have much room to do anything that did not end in a serious assault?
She was beautiful and charismatic.
Alex what a complete beauty i always adored her , i still do xx

She Hated This Bloody Silly Song
And is still
Stunningly beautiful and sexy lady.
thanks jade
always love this very l;ovely girl , She had a fantastic voice , i loved her hair style and fashion ,, Her songs were always catchy long live the 60 era lolx
A very good looking lady, with a great voice.
It might have won the Eurovision contest but Sandie hated this song. A fabulous lady and a wonderful singer.
I don't think she thought much of 'Monsieur Dupont' either!
@@stevenbaker7696 That wouldn't surprise me.
From what I have read,Sandie did not like the song at all describing it as "that idiot song with the cockoo- clock melody"-- for all that it became her biggest hit,if not her best Auckland New Zealand 2021
I was recently listening to one of Edgar Wright's audio commentaries on "Last Night in Soho" and he mentioned that was part of the reason he chose "Puppet on a String" for the cabaret scene.
What else did she sing then ??
Very few could make a goofy song like that even bearable, but Sandie did it.
Here for Jade 🔥😊
HERE FOR JADE!😂❤
In my humble opinion, I think the absolute BEST song Sandie ever recorded was, “Girl Don’t Come.” You’ll probably like it, too. Check it out!
yes i like it and long live love but puppet on a string is crap
agreed
Girl Don't Come is great, but Love Me Please Love Me is her best song.
Joanne thank you , i love all Sandy Shaws songs x
@@yakima6 Good taste. I think her best is There's always something to remind me.
In a beautiful park as a child I listened to this song.. at the tearoom was a glass box with a stringed puppet inside dancing to it. Today it's so relevant a memory, and such pertinence to my life that i could never have forseen.
1:30 lmao the guy that jumped into view
Such a catchy tune...She sang it great❤❤❤
A wonderful song. Sandie was a dynamic performer and one of my favorite singers in the sixties. I am a fan for life. I also like her hits Long Live Love, Always Something There to Remind Me, and Monsieur Dupont.
I'm in the US and never even heard of her.
not forgetting - Girl don,t come -
Quién más está aquí por jade?
loved Sandy Shaw in 1967, when I was an eight y.o. east german boy 🙂
The vibes of the crowd behind her in this video are horrid. God bless them though!
There's such enthusiasm and joy in her voice - it's a song that makes me happy.
Beautiful voice, beautiful woman!
I remember this song as she gave Tom Jones his first number one hit song called It's Not Unusal and she is the only singer who came on the stage in her bare feet as it won The Eurovision song contest as it was Sandie Shaw with Puppet on a string as I am dedicating this song to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxxxx
I was 16 years old, when this song was in radio ,my mother has bouth me litlle radio -Koliber, I WAS SO HAPPY 😍😍😍
She really has a wonderful voice.
I was born in 1967 and I honestly remember this as the first thing I remember.
born in 62 here with 4 older sisters with a pile of singles to play whenever they were out.. Great song
Same born in 67 my family would always play old songs! When women looked and acted like women. Great voices of the 60s as it was really their voices.

Once upon a time, artists produced quality songs both lyrically and musically. It was a delight to the ears of any music lover. You could listen to it endlessly. " Puppet On A String..." released in 1967 and still popular in 2023...! The sixties, seventies, eighties... greatest times in music...! And let's be honest, what a beautiful singer or " Sandra Ann GOODRICH " better known as " Sandie SHAW " at her best...! Also a reminder of the beautiful British youth of the sixties. Thank you for this cheerful song and may you be well sweetie. Sandie SHAW... pure youth sentiment...! Greetings from Belgium (Europe) and Florida (USA).
Yes, you nailed it. "A delight to the ears". She certainly is.
JADE brought me here!
