I was 10 years old, and remember my parents being horrified with this songs. Thanks God I had a school mate whos father was a pilot and was bringing on each flights the last records from London. Great souvenirs
Like you, I was 10 when this song came out and my parents were similarly horrified. They were only in their thirties at the time but they seemed really old to me. They hated me playing the Stones so much that they bought me my own record player so I could play their song in my bedroom instead of the main family room. They bought me High Tide and Green Grass for my birthday when it came out. They were even more horrified when I started playing Jimi Hendrix and decided the Stones were not so bad after all and were no longer banished to the bedroom.
Black adult male here. I was 10 years old when the British Invasion hit. I will NEVER forget it. It shook this country to its core. The Beatles and the Rolling Stones especially.
Before my time I was only five, but The Beatles and Stones one great song after one great song ,over and over. My bass teacher in ‘65 told me to listen to how the Stones often played grooves evolved from Willy Dixon and Muddy Waters. The Rolling Stones might have been the best thing that happened to spread appreciation for American blues in those days.
In 1965 The Rolling Stones told producers of popular tv show Shindig they would not appear unless they agreed to feature Blues legends Muddy Waters or Howlin' Wolf. The Stones regularly performed with their Blues heroes.

It is good to see Brian Jones again. Such a tragedy when he died. He was amazingly talented.
@@ashsol2657 Obviously but he gives greats musicals colors contributiond to the songs. Have you ever heard Ravy Shankar on a sitar for exemple. Or Lionel Hampton on xylophone?

Chill out dude this was 1964-65 America. Men his age hadn't accepted long hair yet. Red was actually a very good comedian. He put them on didn't he? By the way Wyman and Watts are about 15 years older than me. I was 9 or 10 when they appeared here.
I'm 70 years old, and when I was about 13 I bought the 45 and played this song on my record player, over and over, pretending I was Mick Jagger. Brian Jones guitar (Vox Teardrop?) has the most awesome sound on this song. So, this song and "The Last Time" are my two favorite Stones songs.
Have you noticed Mick's WORDS can be understood?! Today's crap takes some understanding...VERY low quality...= CRAP... = low QUALITY!!! Bring back....QUALITY....
I was 13 years old when I first heard the stones for the first time. It was so magical.. I am 69 years old and I cannot tell you how this band has made my life so interesting and full of great music..
I echo your thoughts! I am exactly that same "You" .....Sorry? Welcome my bother....Let's Enjoy ....The life the Stones gave us! They opened our eyes to so much...Great Music and all that FORCE! I guess...yes... I Love you Larry...(& gwwayner above....) We knew music and freedom. We proved it. Take care. (From Chile)
I was 10 years old when mom took me to a Stones concert in 1965 and it was exiting….they are still together today minus a few originals …..60s Stones were the best..
i was 13 when the Stones did this it was beyond belief at the time. Satisfaction was what blue collar kids sang along with in school yards in Whitestone, Queens NYC on little transistor radios another heaven and aother earth must come before that energy will be again!!
Red Skelton was one of the funniest characters that I grew up with in the 60-70s. It was my 15 years older uncle who got me listening to the Stones, Who and many others in the early 70s. Dad was a Hank Williams guy, so it was always country at home. Three types of music I can’t stand, gangsta rap , Shania and Taylor Swift.
I love the music from all of the eras of the Rolling Stones, but nothing will ever top their early years when they were still talented-but-raw young musicians figuring the whole thing out. Their version of "It's All Over Now" is an absolute desert-island classic. Among my personal fav top five or ten Stones tunes of all time. Brian Jones - what a loss he was! And how gifted a player, especially on these covers of American blues and early rock-and-roll tunes. Charlie and Bill are a scream on this tune, watching the other guys prance around, while they just keep things going down in the engine room.
Bobby Womack who wrote it was in Chicago at the time this became a hit, and he was saying that when he first heard it on the Radio...paraphrasing, these guys have to be Black.
So much of the old stuff was shamefully sexist and no one seemed to notice, myself very much included. You'd never hear Stupid Girl or Backstreet Girl on the airwaves these days. Luckily Jagger and Richards were far more thoughtful about their ideas and feelings during the all too brief Mick Taylor era. Had they not been they'd have gone from sexist straight to senile, as their interminable decades long road trip pitching the oldies has shown.
@@davidmurray2539 You could add Under My Thumb, but that was kind of a put on. Anyway, all 3 are excellent songs,so that's what matters. More thoughtful does not mean a better song...
Amazing how good their music was, and Keith Richard's guitar playing, even at that early stage in their career. I remember playing this on a jukebox in the mid 60's.
Technically, up to and not including "Goin' Home", the Stones did not seem much interested in sound purity and clarity. That changed a lot from "Beggar's Banquet" on. A new sound engineer ?
@@Paganel75 getting a pro (Jimmy miller) rather than their manager as a producer helped. George Martin vs Andrew Loog Oldham, or why the Beatles had better sound.
what makes this tune so good, and all their songs from that period, is the interplay between Keith's guitar and Brian's guitar, after Brian died they lost their magic for me.
@Ryan Manice let’s not forget about Bill Wyman he’s so underrated as a member the stones were never the stones once Bill left the stones lost Bill Basslines no Bill no Stones the whole band should of called it a day after steel wheels
My all time favourite group , since I was a kid and drove my parents mad playing their music , over and over again......who would of thought in the 60’s we would still be listening to them in 2021 and beyond...... I don’t expect they thought that either..... 😁. And STILL UTTERLY AMAZING , 👍❤️, sadly Charlie has now gone. But I hope they carry on , they are part of so many peoples past, us oldies have known and loved all our lives.

Wow, and with Red Skelton as the opener of all people! You could tell he was irritated with the young woman screaming but with his great comedic timing he made hay with it.
I had to check the comments to see if someone could verify that WAS Red Skelton introducing them. I’m only 52, so this was 5 years before I was born. My mother was a big Red Skelton fan and I have a great appreciation for him as a result. Awesome to see him in this video.
@@drats1279 the guitar fill that Brian does, makes this song more than just simple chords. It definitely would not be as good of a song without it. Brian was such an important musical part of the band until the lifestyle made him a shell of what he was. Such a tragedy.

Who is this asshole Skelton?

I'm 70 years old, and when I was about 13 I bought the 45 and played this song on my record player, over and over, pretending I was Mick Jagger. Brian Jones guitar (Vox Teardrop?) has the most awesome sound on this song. So, this song and "The Last Time" are my two favorite Stones songs.

This is proper RS; with Brian leading the way, a bass player looking cool, Keith and Mick modest, and a drummer doing his job. Proper rock band.

I've got 40 years on you and I still love this song.
Real music never dies and I'm still alive listening to it. Wait hell "I'm older now" 😆
That sound, harmonies, performance. Perfection…you can play this over and over again…one word: PERFECTION
One of my fave early Stones ♡
Get over yourself David. The Woke are pathetic. Everything they touch turns to sh*t.
Amazing how good their music was, and Keith Richard's guitar playing, even at that early stage in their career. I remember playing this on a jukebox in the mid 60's.
Their music will live forever.
Keith got better so fast it was amazing - the 63 recordings essentially had three musicians and a garage guitarist.
what makes this tune so good, and all their songs from that period, is the interplay between Keith's guitar and Brian's guitar, after Brian died they lost their magic for me.
