  • Welcome to the new Channel Drift Spot Lincoln, these videos are older now, but I wanted to move them to the right channel so they can be not ‘adult only’. This way they will reach more people and perhaps help others. More Drift Diaries are coming and far more advanced/detailed as we have all moved on so much in RC Drifting. But… here is how our story began. As total noobies.
So you’re thinking of getting into RC Drift, and money is burning a hole in your pocket? I'm a newbie to drifting in RC, but I've taken this very path, and ended up investing in both.
Watch the video to see what my thoughts are between the two, and what 'scene' revolves around 4WD owners and 2WD owners - then... make your choice! Blue pill or the red pill? The rabbit hole goes deep Dorothy!
    Thanks for watching.

My first rc drift car was a wltoys k969 just recently converted it to brushless and rwd which was also my first time modifying a rc car. Now I have a red cat 1/10 scale to mess with. The wltoys is really great indoors or in small spaces

I think awd doesn't get enough love. It's not easy to drift an awd without gyro because it's much faster and takes more comittement to get sideways. However, I think it's a lot of fun because in contrast to rwd there is no assistance from a gyro so you are actually fully driving the car. It all comes down to skill vs having a good gyro and setup.

4wd is more for hooning around, however, i manage to hoon my touring car (brushless, slick rubber tires) inside but its not as good looking as rwd drift.
    really nice video man!

I just got the bug for this hobby after seeing 1 too many RC indoor drift track shorts. I picked up a Haiboxing 1/18 4wd drift car and loved it. I immediately after got a 1/10 kyosho fazer mk2 4wd drift car from my local hobby store and I don't regret it at all. I think a lot of people who remember owning an rc car toy as a kid think these cars are easy to drift; they are NOT. I've humbled myself many times this week on my 4wd. Build up to the 2wd proper indoor setup!

Try to mixed up your suspension setup for the rwd, mine was hsp awd convert into rwd using stocl suspension awd does not work properly every turn but then, i hardened the front and slightly hard at the back (too soft car only spin a lot) can goes smooth and of course takea some time to handle it mainly compare to when it was awd

What about using a rwd drift chassis with an AWD conversion. That d4 has an AWD version. Give it a gyro, locked rear diff, and one-way front diff. And they drive like beasts indoors. They drift really well compared to they're touring versions

    • @DriftSpotLincoln

They do indeed. Or did. Nowadays no-one uses 4wd indoors at all. Visit any circuit at all. But they were cool for sure, things have just moved on

Im new to the drift car side of the hobby. Im leaning to 4wd. I will not be going to events or anythjng like that. All i have is pavement/asphalt/blacktop streets nothing smooth. Im looking to slid and just have fun. Would 4w be better than rw for these reasons? I see the rw getting stuck and just roasting tires.

    • @DriftSpotLincoln
      @DriftSpotLincoln  4 місяці тому +1

Tbh 4wd is power sliding. Rwd is drifting. They drive totally differently. I know plenty who drive proper rwd outside and still love it.
If its for fun. And you'll move on in 6 months. 4wd.
If its more serious and you think you're going to get deeper into it. Rwd all day

I just ordered a 4wd drift car and now i regret it after this video. Could I somehow convert it to rwd? Also it's a toy grade car. Can I convert it into proportional?

    • @DriftSpotLincoln

I'm not saying it's NOT possible. But to be honest if you think you're going to get into the hobby and do it more seriously... id send it back. Save and buy a rwd. Sorry 😞

@@drunx1770 ok then if you want to try rwd. You need a decent gyro like an onisiki which is cheap but good. Remove the front drive shafts and middle shafts. Then you need to work on the front to give you more lock. Good luck!

    • @DriftSpotLincoln

It's not about your level of control. It's the way the car slides. It's lack of angle. It's speed is too high compared to rwd and therefore you crash into others. It's not the same and almost all tracks in the UK won't let 4wd in. Sorry if that's not the news you wanted to hear.
