Bro, wen drifting 4-wheel drive you don’t want to let off the throttle as much you would do a 2-wheel drive, hope this helps some. Great video btw! Keep it up, very informative!
I’ve been into RC drifting for about 3 years now, I’ve owned an HPI E110 chassis I used for RWD and a brushless HPI RS4 for AWD. I have ALOT more fun with the AWD chassis because it’s faster and I can tandem with the boys at work in the crazy carts
All depends on your driving style. I raced off road rc and was better with a 2wd buggy than a 4wd but then with short course trucks I was better with a 4wd
4WD/AWD drift cars have their place. Out here in Salt Lake we don't have a track at all. The 801 Drift Crew simply meets in parking lots and sets up garden hose as a track every week. We pretty much all run 4WD, even the 10+ year veterans. A couple guys try to run RWD and they struggle badly, spinning out, being very slow, holding everyone else up. Its all about the right car for the right surface. Smooth, finished/polished surfaces like your garage floor - yes, you will want RWD. This guy does a better job explaining it than I do lol 🤣: ua-cam.com/video/BGLWGxusBvI/v-deo.html
agree with u bro..rwd at outdoor (not so smooth surface /cement/tar even with gyro setup) will make u suffer..awd is different..speak to my experience only..but in smooth surface..rwd will feel u more
Just my opinion. I drift my WLtoys buggy. I can make it 2wd by Deleting the front CV axles. I also trimmed all the front end so it Is a pretty tight turning angle. What I have observed is 2wd Great for the tight technical small course stuff. 4wd Outdoors, big course, Is high speed high action type of drift. I also have made drift jumps . extreme driftbuggy series.I came up with the idea over a year ago and now I'm seeing guys do it with real cars.
Watching the first AWD drive part of the video: Where's the gas? It was like watching my dad try to drift :D And I know what that looks like because I saw it Tuesday :D
I wouldnt treat HSP FF as drift kit as the kit itself is actually touring kit, with drift tires only. You might need try something like Team Magic E4D as stock drift kit is tuned different than E4JR touring. Also just some info for all.. To drifting using 4WD kot, you guys need to tunes it into CS (Counter Steer) as almost RTR 4WD drift kit did not have CS. A sharing advise from noob drifter as Im just playing Drift recently and still noob.. Haha.. But CS things is advice from veteran drifter.
Not going to lie, your 4WD drift video reminds me of all those youtube videos of people trying to drift their WRX and just doing the "Subie Push" understeer.
That is kind of the point, 4WD is not a clean drifter in rc form. I’ve seen some that can drift them but there’s no counter steer or any of that with the 4wd. 2wd on the other hand is somewhat more natural and smooth.
I did try locking it but eventually just came to the realization that for me, rwd fit the drift style that was natural for me. Eventually, I would like to build another one but for now, I’m gonna play with real cars for a bit.
Bodies are replaceable and you may end up getting a few but brand is definitely the biggest choice. If you haven’t already, check out my other rc drift videos on my channel. There is some good info to know
I am sure it probably does occasionally because I have the yeah racing big bore shocks on it which are about 5mm shorter than stock. At some point I’m going to switch to mst aluminum shocks which should fix that.
i don't know anything about that 4wd car like are the difs locked and does it have a 1-way front dif but as far as what i saw the you were dealing with a combination of problems with the fit being that track is too small for a 4wd that big, for whatever reason the 4wd was getting too much traction and you were working against yourself. there's no doubt that with 4wd drifting your speeds are a lot higher which is why you need more space but with that said, whether 2wd or 4wd, the basic principle is the same, in order to drift the wheels have to be spinning faster then you are going, just with 4wd because the nature of front wheel drive is to pull you straight forward the only way to counter that effect is to get and keep the front wheels spinning which is the same thing you have to with the rear wheels to keep them from having too much traction, check out this short exceed 4wd drift video, that video is how i found your video.....
Your definitely right, the higher end 4wd cars do drift without counter steer. It’s just not as clean and precise. I guess I would say it’s not as realistic.
@@DikinAhmadChannel it’s not all bad, the cheaper 4wds are still fun RC cars and crazy fast with soft rubber tires. I just didn’t enjoy it for drifting.

The MST is definitely much better in my opinion but rwd tends to be pricier. I would say if you want it to be as close to a real drift car as possible then buying some version of rwd is the only option.
@@ThirdWheelExclusive but dont you need a decent surface for it? Most people get a rwd drifter and find it really is too slow and boring because it's too slick on concrete and they dont have anywhere to run. Do you have somewhere to use your 2wd?
