- Welcome to the new Channel Drift Spot Lincoln, these videos are older now, but I wanted to move them to the right channel so they can be not ‘adult only’. This way they will reach more people and perhaps help others. More Drift Diaries are coming and far more advanced/detailed as we have all moved on so much in RC Drifting. But… here is how our story began. As total noobies.
So as I continue with the Drift Diaries, Ep3 is a direct comparison of the Maverick Strada DC and the FTX Banzai - if you're new to RC drifting like me and want a concrete smasher, which should you get? They look so similar but take a look and see what my thoughts were.
Timetunnelmodels and Wheelspin models supplied the cars.
Very cool video.. I got a lot of FTX. I subscribed and left a thumbs up 👍
Thanks, having a break at the moment due to work and new garage commitments, but more to come. :)
Please note I was wrong about the FTX wheels, tyres do change they are easy to pop off and replace.
When changing them pop them in boiling hot water and they drop of and do it when putting new ones on and pop in freezer for 10 mins and they sit on rock solid no glue needed
Side note. The shocks are actually adjustable up and down
How do you adjust those shocks height?
very helpful left down a sub and a like
So do you rekon different wheels on the banzai will improve it ?
Wider offset wheels make a car grip up differently. So worth a play.
Eg wider front make them grip better at the front. Wider rear the opposite.
Stock were 6mm offset. But you'll need s different shell.
Also. Tarmac tyres by yokomo I think make them. Might be better.
But... its all just fun with a banzai. If you get really into it I'd save your money and go RWD chassis like a D5 or ys2z
May I ask which you think is better overall for chamging to custom shells
No different to be fair. Ftx is my preference. But they are much of a muchness
@@DriftSpotLincoln thank you
Ironically a lot of HPI touring style shells fit the FTX Banzai I’d definitely change the shell that’s the only let down.
With the bonsai do they have after market like upgrade parts and different shells ?
Have a Google.. if I remember right there are lots of ally bits available.
Tbh though its just a drive and enjoy car. :)
@@DriftSpotLincoln Ave make hot wheels drift
@@DriftSpotLincoln I'm getting my boys back into rcs soon though
Great vid buddy. Check out whatever rc on fb that's your local track
i ordered an absima tr4 v2 which costs the same (150eur). Hope not to get disapointed!
deas strada have the ceap or the better steering and accelerating?
Any rc will if its set wrong on the controller. Set your trim 👌🏻
I happen to think abit of flex is better in all fairness, solid plastics r more brittle so i reckon the the hpi will take bashes better as the plastics will bend n have more give.
Just bought a Strada for my son as he's wanting to give the drifting a little go
Great car for younger people to learn with :)
The wheelbase is 256 in both cars ?
Something like that. Not got either anymore
are there any rwd rc drift cars for under 250$(no batteries)?(i dont mind it being a kit)
or any other good budget rc drift cars?(4wd is fine if there is no option, but rwd is preffered)
Hey. You are 100% best going rwd. As for 250$ that seems very cheap
You need to get on Facebook groups in your area and hunt second hand.
A good car is worth the investment.
I just paid £350 for a complete second hand Y2dz. Its brilliant and was worth the extra. Good luck!
@@DriftSpotLincoln but if it is a kit will the electronics fit in the 250$ budget?(it is okay if it is second hand) also can i drift it on the the road or tarmac surfaces?
Seriously dude. I dont live in your country. I can't find a car for you. Go search on eBay. Local clubs. You're going to struggle with such a low budget but its worth a go. Or save for longer. You'll not regret buying once and buying right. I wish you all the best.
@@DriftSpotLincoln Okay thanks for the advice bro!
The ftx was originally a touring car by VRX
The FTX is a way better built car I work at a RC shop the bonsai can run on a 2s lipo as well its the same chassis, motor, ESC and as the carnage for 100£ it’s brilliant for beginners (stay away from maverick and HPI in my opinion) we have a lot of returns on theses 🤐
Agreed
really? is the strada that bad?
why should'nt i buy an hpi?
im starting on this and most people recommends the hpi rs4 sport 3
Where can i buy rc drift cars 1/10 like this?At good price and not professional ,from italy
Ebay? Google local model shops? Rcmart are worldwide.
@@DriftSpotLincoln I haven't found any, especially because some are too racing or rally and the prices are too high, I haven't found anything on ebay, then they have to be assembled and I prefer already assembled cars
Do you can send me some link?
@ElPirasGamer sadly its not a cheap hobby. Realistically the 4wd cars are fun carpark smasher. But anything more than that is more competitive and for indoor club use (mostly)
Places like Facebook marketplace or ebay are key if you want to cut costs, but if there isn't a big scene in Italy you're probably going to need to post from other countries to you.
Have a look at the RMX RTR. Or the YD2 Ec which is rtr too. These are about £350gbp however.
Good luck with the search
@@DriftSpotLincoln ok Thanks👍
Ive just purchased the banzai i got it for £113 this is the only video comparing the maverick to the banzai the price difference was an extra £40 for the maverick so i feel the ftx was the much better choice first 2 things getting changed are the shell and wheels though the original are horrible
Thanks for the feedback, yes the video is getting lots of views, so I'm glad it's helping people :)
@@DriftSpotLincolnI went out today and also purchased the maverick I'm interested to have my own comparison between them 🙂
What makes me wonder is why cheap drift models are 4wd?! Only some moron from the marketing department could come up with that idea.
Definitely. Would be much cheaper to bin all the front part and just add a gyro surely. Maybe they will catch up.
Vestergaard AS in Denmark bought HPI Racing in 2019 so owns both HPI Racing and Maverick brands.
They do list some Ali options:

Great help for people thanks!! 😁
