    As a former binge eater who also ate for comfort, the only success I have found was being strict carnivore. First I was keto but still binged, just on keto foods, then I started to slowly go full carnivore and noticed the bingeing decreased. So I tried full carnivore and have not binged in 6 months! It is so liberating!

    Eating junk food and feeling so bad after is a good reminder of why I shouldn't eat that in the first place. I forgot my why. Looking at you and how beautiful and young you are I forget how much of a struggle it is for everyone. I'm 73 and I think how much easier it must be for someone as young as you...but it's a struggle, no matter what, for everyone. Thank you for putting it all in perspective.

      Thankyou so much for your honesty. In the UK after 30 years living with Hashimoto's nobody has ever given me advice about the illness. Just tested once a year and medication adjusted if necessary. No conversation or recognition of the effects it has on mental and physical health. Everything I've learned I've learned by research and listening to people like you being honest and open about its effects. Thankyou again.

      Absolutely, 73 here too. After menopause you can look at food and gain, so much harder to lose. I am not a binger, I can keep chips in my pantry for a month, eating just a couple a day or so, but its still getting inside whether all at once or little by little. DO NOT BUY! That's the secret, if it's not there you won't eat it.

    I feel you Neisha. Mine is candy. I don’t have cheats anymore, I don’t drink alcohol.
    I was addicted to sugar. As soon as I have cheats, it escalates.
    I eat beef, lamb, eggs, cheese, salmon, sardines in oil, prawns, cucumber, Kalamata olives, macadamias…and a tiny amount of purple onion (Greek salad, no tomatoes/lettuce).
    For snacks I eat Biltong and Pork Crackle.
    I drink black coffee, Tulsi tea with lemon, and Italian mineral water. Sometimes have ham and prosciutto. That’s it…I don’t eat anything else.
    I fast like you did, pretty much 16:8. I change my fasts around because I’m nearly 52 so keep an eye on my hormones and check blood sugars intermittently. I’m healthy and happy.
    The tools I use are my loves. I increase time invested in what I love if I’m tempted by sugar. I really switch on my creativity and that releases more happy hormones and the desire goes away. And the bonus is I usually end up creating something that makes me better at my day job and increases fulfilment. Win win!

      Garlic and onion are high in the FODMAP, fructan. Fructans are a type of oligosaccharide (i.e., the O in the FODMAP acronym). Ok, 72 been overweight my whole life since my 20's. Started with Keto, then Ketovore and for the last almost 2 years Carnivore. I have Hashi's diagnosed by Dr Cywes and we are treating it with only nutrition. It takes time! The past couple of days my daughter/ husband and 2 kids have been here and let me tell you, the anxiety form the parents was off the charts! They have too much going on and I tried to keep things calm as possible. They tend to spread themselves too thin at times and I am their go to to release the tension (they just needed to vent and get it off their chests). I am a good non judgemental gal and a good listener. Yesterday it was starting to get to me and I felt my anxiety level go up. I landed up eating much more than I usually do BUT it was not junk, I ate more Carnivore than usual. I have been very blessed to NOT turn to junk for most of the 2 years on Carnivore. So they left this morning and I am relaxing and getting back into my peaceful routine...lol...when they are here there are foods in the house that aren't here when they leave. We've got this and I will not beat myself up for eating too much meat yesterday!!!! I would love to hear more about ideas to help put Hashi's into remission, Neisha! Health and big dang hugs~~~

    It is so refreshing to hear we are not alone. We all think we go through these struggles alone and look at others thinking they have it all figured out. We don't. We go through motions in life of having it all figured out vs having the wheels come off. We need to approach ourselves with a lot more grace and understanding rather than judgement. Thank you so much for sharing your realness. We try to escape feeling bad/sad/lonely/bored as we are hard wired to go towards pleasure away from pain, but if we can learn to be comfortable with that momentary uncomfortable feeling and say "hey, this is okay. We all feel like this sometimes. I don't need to judge. I am OK in this moment and it will soon pass", then we just might find ourselves being a bit more gentle with ourselves.

    Girl, I have days that I stand at the kitchen counter eating chunks of brown sugar out of the bag. So I hear you. What I found is that the little junky things I eat destroy my day. Hunger is stimulated once again, where if I stay on pure carnivore I am never hungry. Has been way too hot for walking, so there is a lot of time to get bored and cheat. Not worth it! My motivation is the joy I had when I slipped into those size 4 skinny jeans. Big step away from the pre-carnivore 14’s.

    I was bedridden for two plus years due to said illnesses, and you and your husband helped me to heal. Now, I'm able to move, walk, work and am generally so much better!
    Currently doing Lion for a few more months as I can feel more inflammation needs to exit, and then I'll be reintroducing foods one by one.

      @unhurriedhomemaker8071 oh my gosh, yes!
      Don't walk, run to it! I was doing carnivore and felt alright, but 4 days of doing Lion I was a new woman. I do highly suggest, if you haven't already, make sure to check your own possible comorbidities - I'm EDS, MCAS and POTS, and so I can't have leftovers AT ALL; everything must be fresh or frozen....I truly can't believe how drama my diet is, but being aware of these things is truly necessary for me, and lifesaving, as I can't live the life I'm meant to when flared.
      Also, may I suggest Aspire probiotics? Godsend #2.
      And looking into Brillia if focus is still an issue for either of you after those two changes.
      My life compared to 9 months ago is utterly night and day. I'd say at this point I'm 75% healed...I couldn't walk, think or process emotions peacefully or appropriately for a couple of years. I am 100% anti-drama and all about pulling myself up by the bootstraps so living that miserably was untenable for me.
      I am praying for you and your son to have perfect healing and wonderful results. I believe we were made extraordinary to do extraordinary things but sometimes it takes a surprising detour or two for us to arrive at Who We Are Meant To Be and I pray your road is easy and blessed.

    I definitely relate to this. At the start of this year I was strict Carnivore, but also transitioning to a new job as a chef at an Italian restaurant, so after some time pizza & pasta gradually slipped back into my diet, which lead to me eating/craving more fast food, more highly processed food, ect. Although I don’t have autoimmune issues, I recently got sick (two times in one month) for the first time in well over a year. I’m not back on track yet, but this video is motivating me to do a “Carnivore Reset” for myself.

    • @OhPervyOne
      @OhPervyOne Рік тому +2

      One of the things I learned is that pregnancy cravings (just like my own food cravings) is caused by nutrient deficiency. If you think about the common stereotype of "pickles-and-ice-cream" and think about each item, you can get to the basic elements your body needs. Pickles? Salty. Your body wants minerals. Ice-cream? Rich, creamy, sweet. Your body wants fuel - fat and sugar. Feed your body the elements and you won't have the cravings.
      I started adding liquid trace minerals (electrolytes) to my diet, usually in my morning coffee (with cream), and I've found that the urge to snack has virtually disappeared.
      The only snacking I do now is habit-based snacking, emotional eating or boredom snacks (more habits). This requires emotional discipline, but also, it helps to switch to something that's just as easy as chips, but isn't chips... so I eat pecans and beef jerky. These are easy snacks to eat and aren't cheap processed crap.
      I actually fill up on these, because I'm feeding my body the fuel that it needs. Over time this has resulted in less snacking, because it takes less and less to fuel me. The result has been that I'm feeling less snacking urges.
      This tapering-off of snacking urges didn't require discipline; it just happened as a direct result of remineralization (from electrolytes) and proper fueling with healthy meats and fats.
      So, get plenty of minerals and snack only on healthy fuels. You will have less cravings.

I’ve struggled with sugar addiction and binge eating my entire life (53 year old woman). On keto OMAD I lost 80lbs went carnivore and gained 25lbs back because of binging on dairy. I’ve dealt with very high stress family situations for the last two years and when faced with emotional stress I allowed myself dairy instead of sugar and highly processed carbs, but it’s time to continue my fat loss and get gain control of my emotional health and gain the stability emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually that allows me to be available for my God, my husband, my kids, my grandkids, and my community. I will be joining you in cleaning up my food choices and looking to the Word and my time with the Lord to bring the peace and joy that only He can provide. We just had a family BBQ over the weekend. I made a ton of meat (pork belly, hog log, smoked sausage, bratwurst, ribs, chicken thighs, tri-tip and rib eye steaks) along with bell peppers, zucchini, asparagus and corn on the cob (for the family, not me). My sister-in-law brought all the desserts (doughnuts, bunt cake, apple pie, cookies and ice cream). I told her that 6 months ago I would have sampled one of everything. I made myself eat the fatty section of rib eye first, which was delicious, and filled up on all the meats to help curb me away from the sugars all over my table. A quick reminder or two of the bathroom issues that would plague me at work the next day and a hearty serving of electrolyte water helped keep me honest with myself. I’m down 25 lbs since the start of the year and half way to my weight loss goal.

I'm 34 and planning to have the opportunity to be a mother after my 40's, and you have inspired me to start healing and nourishing my body the way it's supposed to. Two days ago I was eating quite well, and I mean brown rice, greens, homemade juices, all organic, etc., and still I couldn't stop thinking about food. I thought that with the high consumption of carbs it would be very difficult for me to transition, and I have been digesting educational content for three weeks to do things well. Right now I'm two and a half days on the ketovore diet, much more on the carnivore side. I feel phenomenal! I'm not interested in eating any carbs, I don't feel like it, I don't even think about them. What I am not going to leave are the berries, I am eating a handful during the day. Today I got grass fed raw milk and it is delicious! I used to not digest milk, but this milk is wonderful! Thanks a lot!

    I’m right there with you. My partner is more keto, and it’s so easy to slide down that slippery slope, and I find myself eating more veg. Even knowing that carnivore works best for me, it’s tough. I’ve got to tighten up again. Thanks for sharing the struggles!

    Thanks for your vulnerability. When the stress hits its so easy to fall into those back slides. I'm there right now too. Your post has helped me decide to get back on track.

    I needed to hear this. I have an autoimmune disease too. And I have been binge eating and feel like crap. I will vow to carnivore with you. No more taco Doritos for me. ( I ate a whole bag in the last two days). I definitely feel so so so much better with zero carbs. And your hair looks great

    One of the things I personally love about you and Dr. B is your honesty and your balanced view of this way of eating and living. Thank you so much for your honesty. I’ve been there and glad to know I’m not alone. Get back on that wagon honey!! ❤

    Neisha, thank you for being vulnerable and reminding us that our patterns of the past are still there. I know you live this life to the best of your ability but that you are human. I have given in a few times and it never satisfies me. I find that if I am emotional, fasting is not a strong way to fight. If I stuff myself with healthy choices, my body won't accept the food. Hugs.

    Nice video, Neisha. I've been keto for 18 months. I suffer from C-PTSD. Chocolate is what I used to turn to for comfort and I still have strong desires for chocolate bars, chocolate ice cream and M&M's. I've held strong, somehow! I keep telling myself it ain't worth it! Hang in there. Thanks for sharing! - Rick
