Soooo soooo obvious he's always and still is a cut above every one else.. and we all know there are soooo many monster players.. Gadd never hits a drum or cymbal he plays music, creactes, and sets up groves that could stop a locomotive. Still incredible still inspiring still Steve Gadd..
Amazing Steve Gadd Still plays the best grooves and solos as he did back in the 70s and at age 77, Im pleased to say hes still kickin ass to this present day.
GaddZilla at it again. A lot of Gaddiments in here, but one thing Steve includes is old school DYNAMICS. I’ve seen a lot of high speed players, but this will ruin your day. Thanks for the transcripts.
Indeed, this transcription is packed with amazing Gaddiments everywhere! 😍 That's precisely why I made the decision to transcribe it. Steve Gadd's talent is truly unparalleled, and it feels like it will be generations upon generations before we witness another drummer as extraordinary as him. 🥰

I swear to my soul, I'm gonna tackle this (thanks to you!). Even if it's one or two bars at a time. It's a beautiful solo, and you did an amazing job notating it. Respect. 🙏
Hi there! Jose here. It's great to hear that you found Steve Gadd's solo transcription helpful and inspiring. Starting slowly and breaking down the solo into smaller sections is an effective method to master any piece of music. Remember, practice makes perfect! We appreciate your kind words regarding the transcription, and we're glad that it's helpful to you. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to contribute to your musical journey. Best of luck with your practice! 🤩🙌🏻☕🥁
Haha I also did a transcription of this solo a few days before you, but I only transcribed the first part of the solo. Very good job, we know it's a hard job !
I appreciate it, brother! 😁🙌🏻☕ I managed to transcribe it in just half a morning right after the video was released. However, it's only recently that I had the opportunity to gather all the pieces together. 😅
Yessss 🤩🙏...we are lucky to be born in this era to be able to enjoy his mastery. I Imagine many generations from now wishing they were from at least 2023 😅
Eventually yes! 🙌🏻🤩☕ I have a few transcriptions lined up. As soon as I find something interesting that resonates with me. Do you have anything in mind? Cheers 🥂

@@elbaquetazocubanohaha and thanks to you kind sir. I'm delighted as I've been needing encouragement to study drumming and parts and styles like I had before. The random suggestion from UA-cam came at the right time for me and I'm jumping on it! Looking forward to the learning and thank you for sharing on this platform. Knowledge is the gift from those who know and the gift to those lucky to receive it. I'm not missing this and especially on Steve gadda groove solo work! @@brianmcguire5175 Thank you for your positive comment brother! I really appreciate it 🤩🙌🏻☕ It's great to hear that our video has inspired you to study drumming again🥁. Steve Gadd is an incredible musician and we're sure you'll enjoy studying his groove solo work. Don't be scared of the homework - it's all part of the learning process! 😁 It is a tricky drum solo....some of the 'accents' will mess with your time but focus on the main melody which is the accents. That's what I do. I take the melody of two bars and start fooling around with it in loop-mode 😅. Then I move forward ⏩. For example, when I started learning English, I use to memorize full sentences by starting with the first word of that sentence: "Could"...(then)..."Could you"....(then)..."Could you please...and so on until you complete the sentence> "Could you please teach me how to play drums" 😁 Use the same method. Start with beat 1 of bar 1 and add 'words' little by little and at the same time work on dynamics, technique, finesse etc...☺️ We appreciate your support and look forward to reading your comments on viewing day. Keep up the great work! ☕🙌🏻😁
Wow! Your detailed response here is a gift! Honoured and thanks so much for this generous insight. Incidentally I am a teacher of English. Your unique use of English word syllables as a rhythmic devise seems logical. But your choice of words and it's accompanying syllable characteristics is simply musical. I've never tried such a system before and so I'm delighted to have a new way to help reference the rhythms in this piece. Thanks also for your encouragement to fear the homework less. Let us all be honest though here! You have done the hard work with your transcribing and so the rest of us have the luxury of working from your hard work. I hope others here read your comment bro me above. You give great insight. Thanks man, really appreciate this exchange. Incidentally, regarding the video now, I've my work cut out for me still haha. Loving the challenge though, you are great for sharing this
I have a hyper drive kit that has shorter tom depths . You can tune them to sound similar this kit is my cheapest kit I own but they sound great die cast hoops birch shells. Steve can play any brand and gonna sound like the Master!!
@@rellis3940 ... that's a fierce truth that the Gaddmyster could make any kit sing. And your die-cast rims and birch shells probably sound pretty good !
Steve can play paint cans and make them sound good! I’m using DW, have owned Yamaha; they and Ludwig are trying to regain the crown. They do sound pretty sweet.
@@rellis3940 My current kit is one I bought from Adrianne Erlandsson in April of 22. It's a Tama Starclassic Bubinga with deep shells so I don't have the same tuning range as shallow shells. I do love the sound, but I like the tone of this kit he's playing. And yes, he can make anything sound good.

Bar 49, I believe your transcription becomes a sixteenth-note earier than what Gadd is actually playing. I believe his bass drums are on the downbeats in this measure.
Oh yeah, I totally understand your point. I actually encountered some difficulty in that specific section of the solo myself. I can see why it might give the impression or illusion of 'displacement'...but I believe Steve rushed the timing a tiny bit there. What I did was transcribe it as if the tempo or pulse slightly increased. However, I have to admit that these transcriptions are not meant to show off perfect accuracy. It's more about attempting to get as close as possible to "the truth," so to speak 😅. Why don't you give both ways a try and let me know which one matches Steve's playing? I'm curious to hear your thoughts! 🙌🏻☕😊
It's so old and comfy and so new and fresh at the same time. I love this guy.
