My father's shop Green Light Studio used to be right to A T shop. He also had another shop directly opposite Odeon Cinema and Cinex on Independence Avenue as it used to be called then. I guess Drive In Cinema also gone which is where I saw Sholay 😊 Walking videos are so much better. City Sweet Centre very close to my house in East London

Once again ALTAF DAYA has come up with a beautiful video capturing the present day DSM and recalling its past. In particular he has recorded the ITHNASHRIi KABRASRASTAN (cemetery) solemnly with a heartfelt commentary. Also his visit to HADI Restaurant along with his friends provides humorous side to DSM'S way of life and its eating habits. This video's visuals to an extent revitalize my DSM THROUGH CHANGING TIMES write up. An interesting video for old timers to reminisce yesteryear DSM and compare it to its current scenario. Thanks Altaf.

Altaf bhai plz do a walk also from Odeon roundabout to Where Cameo Cinema used to be. Plz go down the side street before Cinema where Ishnashri wedding hall is. Turn right from there where Bahadur Bawa Highway School. Of motoring used to be plzzzz 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I will need to watch multiple times to really relate to my old times. And you turn right going towards Tanganyika Library. I was thinking the straight way was towards Riddoch Motors. But still I remember the area but of course so much is new. On the left as you walk was the offices of the sole National newspaper - Daily News where on occasion I personally delivered Tanzania Olympic boxing coach Nizar Walji's press release. He used to train boxer Titus Simba who got real close to reaching the top at the Olympics. Pardon me but I cherish adding my little snippets of my memories of the time. Please keep up the good work. Only you can genuinely nurture our nostalgia
Thanks for your comment. Yes, you are right - the road next to Tanganyika Motors building leads to Riddock Motors, passing by the old Mawenzi Hotel building, which now hosts Holiday Inn Hotel. The Daily News building is brought down and in its place there is a new building hosting various offices.

My good friend, actually classmate (from Karimjee Secondary School days, in Tanga) and now living in Kariakoo - does a daily walk to the city centre, passing the Darkhana (main Jamatkhana of the Ismaili Community).
Helloooooo!!! My aunt, uncle and cousins used to live in Tanga so I came there a couple of times for holiday. They are now in Toronto (Zahur and Salim Bhanji). Walking those paths may not be possible this time as very busy and also it may not be very safe/comfortable to carry my phone in such crowded areas. Will try to record by car if I can.
Thanks for bringing back to life the old memories...I remember Abdul Aziz bookstore. I used to walk all the way from Kariakoo to get comics from this store. The old lady used to ask bijo joyeche as soon you return the books.

Yes.... we moved to London in 2012 but now I live in Ras al Khaimah ....will be there for another year and then maybe move to UK or Dar
