I'm 81 yrs old, and I still walk and play a lot. This video shocked me somewhat because (1) that wrist movement/angle is something I worked on for years thinking it was the 'ideal' way to strike the ball (when nobody I knew agreed with me!), and (2) I have never before seen an instruction video to demonstrate the technique, and I guess (3) I couldn't imagine software and a cell phone being the tools to perfect the technique. It blows my mind, really. What I do know, however, once the technique became part of my swing, I was so impressed how consistently straight the ball went, and how solid most of the strikes felt. The big thing I had to concentrate on in the early days was striking the ball first (before the ground) and also staying behind the ball with my body during the downswing. It all fit together in time, and now I just concern myself with consistency and not playing as often. It ain't the same when you're this old, getting enough rest is so very important. And that this method is available at all via cell phone software is amazing to me, guessing it must be an early stage artificial intelligence thing, a game changer. They say AI is going to change the world, maybe, but as long as I can play golf I'm ok with it, lol.
Wow thanks for sharing your story. And hats off to you for sticking to what you believed worked for your golf swing. That’s so important. If you find something that works for you, no matter what people tell you what to do. Ignore them. This Sunday I’m going to be posting a video using a training aid that helps you get the wrists in this position more often. And this will also help with the strike. Keep me posted, and if you’re ever wanting more guidance on your swing. Use the link on my home page to reach out to me for either in person or online lessons.
Excellent job Harry, as always, in showing the correct hand position on the backswing and downswing! These are the positions I have been working on for a while now and it is coming along nicely! Well Done Harry!
@johnschwartz1536 thanks again John. Really pleased you enjoyed the video with me using hackmotion. This is certainly something I’d recommend people do whether they use hackmotion or not. More to come!
I would recommend using this concept yes, there is something that I would add using the driver just to help with angle of attack. Maybe a produce a video on this next month?
Agree. Its default targets are a little bit too extreme (If I move 15-20 degrees more towards flexion in the downswing I generally only produce compressed low bullets) and reds all the time (very discouraging), but since you can now set your own with the app upgrade, it is more useful - good compression and good trajectory for me if I take around 10 degrees off. And orange and greens...
@JackBass9 brilliant. The reason coaches are using them in videos and lessons is because it’s very good. It shows you exactly where your wrists are and tells you where you need to get to. Don’t forget, like I explained in the first 3-4 minutes, you can practice this twisting feel on the downswing without Hackmotion and still improve your wrist setting and club face control at impact.
@pbode1 that’s very interesting. And i do agree, it would be great to have the upgrade to be able to set your own targets as for me, there no harm in seeing flexion at the top of the swing as long as you can maintain/ add in the downswing.
Which Hack Motion are you using? Which one would you recommend for a recreational golfer? I really enjoy your content because you use the same philosophy as my instructor.
I’m using the Core version. This is great to know where your wrists are at the top of the backswing and the moment of impact. The main one is impact for me. Focus on improving that number and you’ll see huge improvements so the Core is enough. The plus is when I believe you learn about radial and ulnar wrist movement and the pro lets you compare your angles to tour pros.
It really depends on how you release the club and the direction of the shots when you don’t get the release right. There is a video coming later this month talking about the release however it may not suit your swing mechanics. So I’d recommend using the link on my home page to book an in person lesson or online lesson.
In the beginning of the vid you say you hold your RH angle all the way to the beginning of your follow through… But you are releasing much earlier in your real swing. Watch your swing at 7:23 for example… I think this is confusing people, including myself. So is it just a “feel” that you hold it that long?
That’s great to read, more content to come with the Hackmotion. Let me know how you get on after using it. You should be able use the same code harry5 to upgrade to pro too!
Does the new HM actually record without the club even brushing a mat? In my experience with the older model, it needs to make contact with something at P7. Since I don't have a mat at home, I can only use it on the range..
@pbode great question. With my experience I’ve found the same, you need to either swing fast (if you avoid the matt) but most often, hitting the matt/ turf (getting some sort’ve contact) seems to be required. However, the drill I show at the start with or without a club you can practice using the simple practice setting and watching the 3D model of your wrist and check as you go over the positions from takeaway to backswing to club back to parallel and impact.
@Fatrav thanks for commenting with your thoughts and sorry to read this has annoyed you. I really do believe this is a great product as it tells you where you are and where you need to be with your wrist angles. But don’t forget, as I explained in the first 3-4 minutes you can work on this for one minute a day without using Hackmotion, the first drill without a club and the second one with a club.

Do we use the same concept on the driver or fairway woods
I would recommend using this concept yes, there is something that I would add using the driver just to help with angle of attack. Maybe a produce a video on this next month?
@harryshawgolf cheers and a video would be great keep the content coming please 🙏🏌♂️
Hack motion must have given all UA-cam golf instructors a free device since everyone is using them as a teaching demo in November and December.
I'm not a UA-camr but purchased one. Well worth the money

@leone7605 nice, have you got Core, Plus or Pro?

More HM content for sure! Just purchased the Plus. Already thinking of upgrading to Pro after I get some time with the Plus.

Love the thumbnails in your content Coach! What app are you using for that? Cap Cut?

same with a driver?
@pv7444 great question. Yes I’d suggest the same with driver however I’d also recommend applying another pointer to help. Maybe one for me to film?
Sorry but I won't be buying a gimmicky device. Golf is expensive enough without this.Am going to unsubscribe really annoying!
