You’ve said a brilliant line here that resonated with me for both the driver and iron swings. First have an efficient, coordinated sequence then gradually increase the sequence speed to the maximum amount to achieve natural “clubhead” speed. In other words, if you lose the sequence at 90%, go back to the speed where you did it correctly. I think I need to go from a swing hard mindset to “sequence efficiently fast” as the latter is an enabler to clubhead speed, consistency and accuracy.
I think you’ve summed it up perfectly Tony, being able to give ourselves a bit more awareness time in movement is key. Another example would be we would expect to learn a guitar solo at full speed and expect to play it perfectly, it’s the same with a golf swing. It’s a learned movement and to help a lot with that, starting slow and building up is very effective. Many thanks for your comment which I hope many read, as you’ve nailed it 🔨 Warren

Hey Warren, I came upon this video the other day and tried out this driver tip. I'm 64 years old and a past baseball player and still tend to come over the top. I practiced this drill a couple of times outside before I played a round yesterday on a tight golf course. Also practiced the Drop Down Drill with my irons. I hit 11 of 14 fairways and 3 of 4 greens on the par 3's. I didn't over swing and just focused on making good contact with those swing tips. It turned out to be the best round of golf that I have ever played. Shot my lowest score ever of 80! Just made a few too many mistakes with my short game shots. Looking forward to watching more of your videos and swing tips. Also, hoping to see you wearing an Atlanta Braves cap! 😁

Your method is the swing style that provides me with the most efficient fluid power which has always worked for me. My thought is just dropping both arms together while unbending the trail arm at the same time bringing my hands in front of my trail hip or pocket and from there i unload the body and wrists I tried center axis by jumping (twisting) , front axis by pushing front foot toward 11:00 to straighten front leg.

I had an indoor range session yesterday (launch monitor and screen setup) and the drill I tried with my driver was the split hand drill to take the club away facing the ball (not on the inside, which watching videos of myself I now realise I was doing). This worked really well and according to the launch monitor I hit something like 13/15 targets which is very consistent for me as I usually have a few wayward drives (e.g. ballooning up into the air , or fading off to the right!). I'll try this next drill next time, being able to trust where my driver goes would make a big difference !
Wow that’s an excellent return and I love that feel of the split hands too. I think I did a video on that back in the day, I’ll try and dig it out and send it over. Usually this is easier for people with a tad head heavier swing weight in their driver. The sound coming off your TS3 is different to mine, so it makes me wonder if your head weight is heavier than standard?
Hi. Not that I am aware, I got it off the rack when I was running a golf shop and just has a stiff 65g hzds shaft so nothing funky I’m afraid. But you’re right in heavier is better for mechanics, having these lighter heads and shafts make it much easier to swing out instead of down. Appreciate you messaging. Warren

@@warrenbennettgolfacademy most definitely agree. Spent months getting the arms to drop first. Lots of hours on the range. A place that far too many club golfers don't spend nearly enough time on

Hi Graham, good to hear from you and on the back of your suggestion I did a video today about putting fade spin on the ball, curing the hook, it will be out next Tuesday. Cheers matey Warren
While I love the driver tip, what I really want to know is how you get your dog to sit so calmly while you swing! I have an simulator and golf net setup indoors to practice however my beloved golden retriever gets very excited as soon as I swing a club and makes it next to impossible to practice meaningfully. 🙃
Hi, thanks, I guess he is just used to it from day one. Literally Trev was in the academy, when I had the indoor setup, from the first day and he just got used to it, as well as I trained him to not move, so a treat after every shot I did if he doesn’t move and thankfully he has remembered that. Wishing you and your well. Warren
Would this be an example of a rear leg axis swing opposed to center axis or someone like Bryson who is a front leg axis swinger where the the first move is a fall to the front leg?
I would say more of a centre feeling, the golfer may feel weight pressuring down rear leg in transition to allow the arms to drop, defiantly with the driver anyway.
I can say that my entire game changed when I learned to keep my back to the target and learn to let the club drop before letting the momentum of the head finish in the proper position (facing the target with the club basically dissecting my ears behind my neck). Try it!!
Been struggling with driver. Really like drop the club head on a target green dot idea. Very helpful to see the target spot of where to drop the club head. Body has to stay closed to be able to hit that spot so arms control that initial movement. Once club drops to that target spot, do you feel like the arms just pull the body through with no need to focus on opening hips or do you feel the hips take over at a certain point and drive the follow thru of the swing?
Is that true about moving into ball to quickly which makes you move back ouT ? Ive asked multiple channels why i seem to have my best shots when im on my back foot ….obviously ive got issues going in lately ,but this really screwed my driver up (worse than already was) cause i couldnt learn proper weight shift /turn because “backing out“ worked .. Edit: natural speed is another great li aspect (for me anyways) …..for me to get on proper plane, release ,etc…my swing loses all the feeling of power and is definitely noticeably shorter …and even though its mostly a preferable outcome ,seeing it go shorter and not feeling powerful im guessing is why i cant stick with it long… may e if i start thunking “natural speed” ill have better / more success
Hi, thanks for your message. If I understand it correctly, it sounds like a sequence, matching up thing. Trying to change your back foot weight shift issue, without any success, or even getting worse results, sounds like it needs what I call a secondary feel to blend up. Having better success hitting off your back foot sounds like you match up your movement by doing that. It obviously difficult to pin point your message to a swing in my head, but this is my best guess. I hope this makes sense and is not too vague an answer. Kind regards Warren
@@warrenbennettgolfacademyyeah i see my comment now and i guess i wasnt as clear as i thought i was.. but yes you more less got it … i was getting better results (straighter, less slice or snap hooks) while not feeling speed and power, keeping more connected bowing lead wrist, etc …but was noticeably shorter distance and i invariably started to add speed and thats where i ended up on my back foot during the good shots… meaning most shots i turned through while really unloading and snapping the clubhead through the ball would mostly be high long and horrendous slices ..or .. id over correct my hand release and get a low snap hook …then id work on trying to get more in to out with that release and the only “good” shots were when i was almost all my weight on back foot..and i mean good shots almost 300 carry straight as an arrow at 54 yrs old with arthritis lol …only it is impossible to time it very consistently ,im lucky if 1 out of 3 in a row at the range worked out .. its hard to just let go of that swing but im really going to work on it this off season …. Thanks for your reply , the weather here in the northeast usa has kept me from playing or the range for quite awhile .ive saved this video to re watch before my next range day
No the feeling is the same, you definitely can get away with less vertical drop with an iron that’s for sure, but the feeling is the same for both. Many thanks for your message Warren
Thanks very much for your message and for your concern, I did look back on the edit and realised that Trev was probably a little bit too close on this video, and I am always super aware of where he is all the time, I am aware that it only takes one shot. I appreciate your message Warren
There are many ways to influence the arms to drop, and keeping the back to the target is one, which I explained in a recent video, but this is in my opinion a more exaggerated way to feel that, but just like the back to target feeling, this isn’t the only way either and the channel is here to give the golfer different ways to layer feelings into their swing. Appreciate you taking the time out to watch and message me. Regards Warren

Hi Graham, good to hear from you and on the back of your suggestion I did a video today about putting fade spin on the ball, curing the hook, it will be out next Tuesday.
Cheers matey

Thank you Warren, have a great Xmas and new year, hope family and trev well
While I love the driver tip, what I really want to know is how you get your dog to sit so calmly while you swing!

She was in the mood this morning pal... so I've had a "Fantastic Feel" already, thank you 👍
It sure this really is what people want to read but if you watched the video, thanks
Can you do this with irons as well?
I can say that my entire game changed when I learned to keep my back to the target and learn to let the club drop before letting the momentum of the head finish in the proper position (facing the target with the club basically dissecting my ears behind my neck). Try it!!
Absolutely yes you can 👍
Been struggling with driver.
Great comments
Thank you Gerald 👍
I think the last part of this will help my snap hook miss
Yes, a bit of width with help. On Tuesday I have a video on stop hooking 👍
Great video, check out Gregg from Overhand Golf ,( Holy Grail ) who promotes this type of swing for many years , cheers Paul
Thank you I will 👍
Is that true about moving into ball to quickly which makes you move back ouT ?
Kind regards
Warren
Thanks for your reply , the weather here in the northeast usa has kept me from playing or the range for quite awhile .ive saved this video to re watch before my next range day
9:49 what's the feel to avoid technique during the swing
Please can you elaborate on this message Fredrick, I’m not sure what you mean by it.

What's the feel to avoid technique during the swing
Is it different between iron and driver of the vertical drop?
No the feeling is the same, you definitely can get away with less vertical drop with an iron that’s for sure, but the feeling is the same for both.
Many thanks for your message

Gee, I hope you are making some good $$$$$$$$$$
All out of my control I’m afraid so hopefully you can skip through most of them 👍
Please don’t make full swings when your dog is around, there are plenty of horror stories of dogs getting injured badly by careless owners, sorry
Thanks very much for your message and for your concern, I did look back on the edit and realised that Trev was probably a little bit too close on this video, and I am always super aware of where he is all the time, I am aware that it only takes one shot.
I appreciate your message
Warren
He removed my comment?
Hi Mike. Please can you elaborate on this message as I have not removed anything as far as I’m aware.

Let me save you all.14 minutes. When you swing keep your back facing the target as long as possible. Ok. Done
Regards

Like this comment if you hit your 5 wood further than your driver.
Thanks for your message and taking the time to watch 👍

Very confusing video 😮
Please can you elaborate?
