So I’m always in the dietetics world and lemon water isn’t necessary. It’s not uncommon for “nutritionists” to recommend this and it creates confusion when people write articles like this. Unless you struggle to get your vitamin C ( which most people aren’t) it’s not necessary and not the best for your teeth either. If it helps you drink more water and you enjoy the taste then go for it. But it won’t “boost your metabolism” or help you lose weight, detoxify etc.
I think it's mostly about stomach acidity, it can't be a coincidence people are constantly recommending apple cider vinegar and lemon water to start the day. Plus, people recommending lemon water ABSOLUTELY overlaps with people who won't take OTC meds for issues like mild digestion issues (which they probably have from constantly going on crash diets) I think a big part of it is the psychological component of a ritualized behavior. I've noticed it a lot with people who fast and go on ultra restrictive diets, they all seem to have a largely symbolic symbolic behavior built into them. My mom has mild OCD and a long history of ED, and she's super drawn to these specifically *unpleasant* experiences, in a "the burn means you know it's working", kind of way. To me health is just nourishing your body with good, nutritious food, being kind to your body in terms of sleep, rest, exercise, but also without restricting yourself from some things that make you happy, like your love for donuts for example, seeing as this is something that helps mentally - nutritious food does keep us mentally healthy as well, but a little "cheat" food here and there is also necessary to keep that going!

@miles_by_sam My wife and I have over the past year have completely shifted our food dependency from normal grocery stores to building relationships with local farmers and eating off our local land. We still supplement from stores/online for some vitamins and such, but eating seasonally and living local has changed our health for the better!
I feel like the article is an oxymoron because our practice as registered dietitians focuses on client-centered care. There is no perfect diet or way of eating because everyone is different. Food suggestions/ food behavior modifications are based on the client's preferences. The article seems like it's using a person's credentials to give the general public a trendy meal plan.
@@b.2592 I have the same thoughts and feelings about lemon water. The article says, "The acidity of the lemon helps rebalance your digestive tract by making it alkaline.." Adding an acid (lemon) to water will make the water more acidic, not alkaline. My eyes were at the back of my hand after reading that.
@@JessskaWhite Not to mention the stomach is already acidic and the body works to keep the stomach at it's normal pH level, constantly adding more acid or not adding acid as needed based on what we eat. Dumping food into the stomach does not permanently change the pH of the stomach or somehow change the pH of the body. If the pH of your body changes even a tiny amount you are soon to be very ill and then dead. Do these people not understand homeostasis?

im chronically ill, so to me health means doing what you can to be be the best version of yourself day by day.
I hope you’re doing okay dude :)
I am. Hope you're doing well also! :)
@@j.wobbly I am thanks :)

Health means to me the way I feel and perform on a day to day basis.
Also just noticed he Ollie Photo hanging in your home gym. LOVE IT!
ls_5 health means everything to me. Keeping a strong balance between exercise and diet leads to an increase in productivity and overall better mental health. So thankful to find content like yours to help make life easier. 😎💪🙂
@nacindaa
Health to me means balance, balance between working out, eating nutrient dense food and having the occasional treat, but also keeping stress levels to a minimum and making mental health a priority. Some days are going to be more nutritious and just overal better than others and that is okay. As someone who is a retired competitive swimmer and currently trying to heal their relationship with food, this is something I constantly have to remind myself. Your videos and your overal positivity and humorous mindset are a great help with that. Keep up the good work :D
Love your name lol ❤️
That was my old professor who created the workout!!! Dr. Willardson is incredibly smart and put us through some great workouts in his classes. This is great.
Health to me is a mix of well-being and happiness, maintaining a lifestyle that you can enjoy which doesn't impact negatively nor feel like you're forced to live like this
Your take on this is so hilarious and accurate I’m actually dying laughing 😂😂😂 this is literally what I think every time I watch those “Nutritionist reaction” videos.
You've got a great way about not being preachy and like a total know it all even though you give some fantastic knowledge and tips. And your "aboot" is kept to a very manageable level.
Everyday is better when Will posts a video, was gonna go on a crash diet this week but this made me change my mind lol thanks Will
Recently started following you have to say I love your work! Binged watched a lot 😂
Congratulations on your hard work paying off and also thank you 🙏 your videos and some recipes have helped me with my lifestyle change currently 6.5kg down since January and feeling good 👍
You seem like a genuinely good guy and I hope you get all the success you wish and deserve
I want a video doing some sort of longevity diet like dr longo for example to see what you think, maybe with before and after bloodwork and all
I would like to see Will do a workout with his Mom on the pilates machine.
Wmunro3 & health means having balance between fun, pleasure, enjoyment, etc & the things you need to do to take care of yourself. Both physically and mentally
To me health is just nourishing your body with good, nutritious food, being kind to your body in terms of sleep, rest, exercise, but also without restricting yourself from some things that make you happy, like your love for donuts for example, seeing as this is something that helps mentally - nutritious food does keep us mentally healthy as well, but a little "cheat" food here and there is also necessary to keep that going!
well said.
maaan you changed my life I went from 250lbs skinnyfat to 165lbs skinny and now slowly building back the muscle. Today 195lbs and lean/muscular.. thanks a lot Will! The motivation from you videos helped me so much
Perfect timing for cardio!
Health is a restart at life for me. Before working out, I was comfortable sitting at a desk all day. I didn’t have energy, slept like shit, and was just content. I started working out and everything has done a 180
Your arms and shoulders 💯 🤌 I bet you give the BEST hugs!
6:20 please don’t do static stretches right before a workout, I’ve had a few friends get injuries that way. Do dynamic stretches that get your heart rate up and warm up that muscle.
@miles_by_sam
My wife and I have over the past year have completely shifted our food dependency from normal grocery stores to building relationships with local farmers and eating off our local land.
The article seems like it's using a person's credentials to give the general public a trendy meal plan.
it's probably very outdated info from the older proffesionals
Also, I watch abbey sharp on the reg and her disdain for lemon water is here to stay 😂.
@@b.2592 I have the same thoughts and feelings about lemon water. The article says, "The acidity of the lemon helps rebalance your digestive tract by making it alkaline.." Adding an acid (lemon) to water will make the water more acidic, not alkaline. My eyes were at the back of my hand after reading that.
ua-cam.com/video/lJmEo7TSJCQ/v-deo.html vlog !!
Recently discovered your channel, hubby and I catching up. Love this video 😂
legit natty advice as always. how about a video on ""a typical indian diet", i remember vaguely you did a series of trying out country cuisines. PS if you can link the gym workout in the video in the description.
0:31 🤣 slick with the words.
@aiddixiv
To me, fitness means setting standards for myself, to keep my mind and body healthy. Fitness for me is about feeling achieved and strong without unhealthy competition and obsession.
This video opened a new perspective to strict dieting for me. Thank you Will!
Watching Will try and stretch was awesome
I started to follow your page as I had fear of eating it helped me alot plus it inspired me to open my food page called liveyourfoodiness thank you so much for this will it means so much to me in a time when food was a nightmare for me it's not anymore thank you. 💜
Very informative and entertaining video! Nicely done, Will.
World's strictest diet is basically a translation for binge eating
Yes
congrats on 1 mil brotha 🫶🏼
Health currently means to me, to not fall under the same category of culturally diverse populations. As a Latina older family members tend to get diabetes or certain illnesses and I want to work harder to prevent that for myself and make conscious decisions.
I also just love your videos and your in between the lines dry humor. It’s the best!
God I love your videos man. Literally look forward to them.
@getleanerwithneener
Health to me means prioritizing FEELING my best over LOOKING what I consider to be “my best”. Have struggled a lot in the past with fixating on being a skinnier and smaller version of myself, but with help from you I’ve fallen in love with weight training and properly fueling my body! Health to me is about treating myself with love, and reaping the benefits (: love your videos Will!
calm and collected with the soup bowl meditative state before the main course
You should try Kashi chocolate granola(Walmart is the cheapest and largest box) and oikos vanilla greek yogurt pro. Just slather it all together in a bowl. Best high protein quick breakfast!
You should eat like Novak Djokovic! Arguably one of the most dominant athletes in sport rn and has a pretty unique diet!
Health to me just means being in a good mental state and then followed by having a good physical state. I feel great after workouts knowing I did accomplished something good for myself. I love that feeling and so I chase after that. My physique improving is a cherry on top.
This is the right way to look at it. One of the most jacked dudes I've ever seen told me to eat well (clean) and work out for the feeling you get afterwards and the physique will eventually follow.
Health to me means getting into a routine your comfortable with that will ultimately help you reach your goals. Love you and the videos, @imjawsh
As a registered dietitian I would never recommend this strict type of eating pattren. Like wtf "a slice of wholegrain bread if you must"? Doesn't resonate with my view of healthy 🤣 We need the carbs 🍞
Healthy to me is nourishing your body and mind without foodrules, thus this applies indeed to more than just food. But also exercise, rest and all of that.
Don’t need carbs
@@moose6459 they’re the main source of energy we use lmfao
@@nadia_17 but not essential. The liver will produce and release glucose when it is low. Fatty acids are essential and we only get it through food. The more you know.
@@bi7235yeah id rather not live in ketosis. good for you though!
@@nadia_17 and? If you drink nothing but wine that would also be the main source of energy you use. Your body does not need dietary carbohydrates
Thanks for putting a smile on my face. Feel like I haven’t laughed in a long time.
“Turns wine into a protein shake” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Will, your jokes are too good
@evandanell health is most important thing for an individual to prioritize. Without our physical/mental health we can’t have proper relationships with others. We need to be around for the long haul and for our loved ones.
@arjhanabeauty
Hi Will. New subbie here! Thank you for the amazing content. I’m a sucker for dry-witty humor 😆
Health and Fitness to me is enjoying long bike rides with my daughters. It’s feeling my best, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. It’s having energy throughout the day. It’s not feeling like I’ve been hit by a train when I’m running to not miss my flight. It’s being a kid again! Full of stamina, agility, flexibility, and an endless supply of energy!
Fun video, thanks for sharing your adventures with Ollie. Also, which video had your egg white with cottage cheese bake? I can't seem to find it now.
Dude, if you don't like stretching, perhaps you should do a week of yoga and see if you like that! 😀
i watch you everyday on this cut, very entertaining and motivating
Curious how this changes if you work evenings. I work 12pm - 10pm 5 days a week. I wonder what the optimal day is for me
It's possible you could just switch the times to your "morning" and "night"
Love your videos Will!!
@_Mr._Brightside
To me health is becoming the best version of yourself ! Lightening the weight of the world we all carry on our shoulders. Stress, frustration, rage, heartbreak, inadequacies, self doubt.. all the challenges we face are just like the plates we slap on the barbell..
Brita filters make a difference depending on where you live our local water is heavily chlorinated so here they make a difference but it all depends on your location
A salad for lunch is just diabolical
The apartment stairs, mans is a menace
1:54 This man is in a different tax bracket. I never seen the automatic dresser drawer microwave ovenator 3000
Love your videos mate!!! And love your humour!!!
His voice is so soothing. Sir, when are you dropping the podcast 🥲
Every Crossfitter watching him do that DB Front Squat just cried
