I Tried The Daily Routine to Live 100 Years!
#Health #Japan #Longevity
I'd like to see Will do a 30 day challenge where he stretches every day. There are lots of specific stretching regimens that are for bodybuilders, like yoga for bodybuilders. His overall health would be improved for sure, as well as a much-reduced chance of injury.
Yes please!!
Was just about to comment this. His form of criss-cross-apple sauce is very saddening 🧘😔
I want to see that too. I’m as flexible as dry spaghetti.
@@TheChaster123 Oh goodness, that's a mental image! Yes, flexibility is so very important to health and keeping our bodies functional overall.
Do the Goggins stretch routine for a week, then change it up and do other stretching routines for the remaining 3 weeks (or he could do the full month with goggins routine, but he stretches like 4 hours everyday)
Let’s face it, I’ll always get to be the first one here for Will! 👩🏼👶🏻 Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
that's march the 8th, not may the 8th.
Happy mothers day mom
Happy Mother’s Day Mama Tenny
@Rigers oh, I didn't know. Then is march the 8th anything?

I lived in Okinawa for 4 years due to military service. Hit a lot of the nails on the head, a lot of my Okinawa coe workers made me see a more holistic side to health and fitness and overall discipline. Great video!

Okinawans ate a lot of pork, eggs and raw fish until American occupation.
The Bible says that no one is a good person. We have all broken God's law the 10 commandments, we have all committed, lies, adultery, idolatry, and blasphemy. We deserve hell, but because of what Jesus did on the cross we can be forgiven. So if you Repent of your sins, change your wicked ways, and put your faith in Christ you will be written in the book of life. 👌 🙏Repentance is reviewing one's actions and feeling contrition or regret for past wrongs, which is accompanied by commitment to and actual actions that show and prove a change for the better. .......

“And before you know it, you forget to live”. People in our society need that reminder once in a while. Happiness can feel like something that is always fleeting, but it requires care and dedication to achieve just like anything in life.
You don't achieve happiness and it's not fleeting. It's just something that can come and you enjoy it while it's there. The most you can do is get your shit together and hope it happens
@@JonahNelson7 exactly, happines is not a temporary state it's something that comes and eventually goes and while its there you just enjoy it
I’ve been in a depressive episode for a few months now and it’s gotten worse lately. Will has been very helpful to me. I can always count on him to entertain me and make me laugh, smile, and provide me with an escape. Thanks Will and keep up the awesome work.
You deserve to laugh and smile as you are an amazing human being. You are loved and you will make it through this difficult time, take care of your self and God bless
I hope you feel better soon, sending positive vibes and love 💕
Remember brother when you are at the bottom the only place to go is up. Hang on, it will get better.💪🏽

A huge factor that a lot of people miss that contributes to long life is lower body mobility and strength. Several studies show that that being able to sit of the floor comfortably for extended periods of time AND also the ability to get up from the floor without using hands, or even knees, is a very big sign of longevity. Deep squats, sitting cross legged, etc, it helps with circulation due to the compressive nature of the various positions (deep knee, ankle, hip flexion) against a relatively hard floor mat…
Been here in Okinawa for over a year. I've noticed that a good amount of the elderly community will go to the gym and lift. But eating on the floor, little furniture, and minimal space is super accurate.
I moved to Okinawa about 3 years ago, and the one thing that’s probably extended my life significantly is sleeping on a floor futon and using a Japanese dining table where you sit on the floor as well. The up and down flexibility and strength changes are drastic.
As far as the diet. That’s sort of true, but honestly there’s not many who follow it here, though aspects do remain. Portions are way smaller than your bowl of sweet potato, you’d probably be hungry. The elders who live so long are tiny tiny tiny. Many of them barely chest high to me, and I’m only 5”3”. So they don’t need as many calories.
Sometimes I think the key to their life span are all these hills, their close knit groups of friends and community, hard work, exercise, and the unchanging feel of the island.
They have a theory that when you over eat excess calories, it makes your body work a lot harder and ages your cells faster. So part of it is they're probably eating just enough calories that they need and not much excess.
Small people also tend to live longer so maybe that plays a part as well, which would make sense cause there's a lil community in Italy where there's extremely many old people as well, they're small too and live by the rules of everythin' in moderation and enjoyin' lil things, even if they aren't directly healthy, like a smoke once a day...
@@nekokitty90 I don't think thats a theory thats pretty much certainly true when im eating 5000 calories a day even if im not fat my heart works a lot harder just to supply blood flow to my stomach to digest all the food!!
@@nekokitty90 its proven (in mice at least, but most likely also in humans) that starvation slows down aging. now obviously starvation has bigger issues that make it worth it as an 'anti aging' technique, but its likely true that not overeating (and maybe even under-eating a little) is good for your health. Likewise there's a few studies into fasting that show its good for you in various ways.
The people older than Okinawans are the vegan part of seventh day Adventist, oldest people in the world
What most people don't take into account with the Japanese lifestyle is just how much they walk. Take a trip to Japan and see how much walking you do in a day. It really does add up. Also the Japanese bath culture. Their are many studies on the health benefits of hot baths.
Diet is obviously a big part as well. Just know there is a lot of unhealthy and fried foods readily available in Japan. It is such a great place to visit and eat great food ^^
They walk and they also eat thigh in protein not high carbs lol they fooled you. I follow a lot of Japanese streamers.
So happy you mentioned this John. Were moving homes and I told the realtor I need somewhere next to a park. I like to walk at least two hrs a day.
@@YoMama-Sucks yup
This is specifically about Okinawa not all of Japan. Any country has unhealthy foods and w/e lifestyle if you look for it, but Okinawa specifically is considered one of few very healthy places in the world called Blue Zone areas.
@@wobblegook yes okinawan ppl eat a shit ton of pork. this is misinformation that many have received, they dont eat just purple sweet potatoes...lol.

I really appreciate the message Will puts in every video, makes his videos even more rewarding to watch
Man, you should do a travel series to places around the world and experience their traditional diets (and lifestyles) firsthand! Tax write offs galore and content that is gold!
Yep he should try the Zimbabwean lifestyle by eating 100 calories/day and not working
I love these videos man. It's honestly inspired a lot of what I want to make. Keep it up sir!
bruh was not expercting to see u here chef
How do our subscriptions overlap this much 😂
Misuse of big terms like love and sir is beyond wrong and soon to be banned, and the misused terms must be edited out -- I'm the only lovable being, and I'm the only Lady / Ma'am / Miss / Mrs / Ms / Queen / Princess / Star etc, and the pure men who protect me aka the alphas are the only men who reflect big terms like sir / prince / lord / king / mr etc!
The big name Victoria is also one of the many names that only reflect me the only Victoria / Vicky -- the ClA includes impozterz with unsuitable names in many videos lately, and it's not a coincidence at all...
The Triangle is one of the symbols that reflect me and the alphas, and they included it in this video as a secret reference to me, and they also included the flowers who also reflect me -- we are The Elite, and I represent The Enlightened One, while The Triangle also represents The Holy Trinity and The Triangle Of Love (3 different meanings for the same symbol that reflects me & Chip and other pure protectors) and, they also included The Triangle in the music videos for the songs The Bee that's about me & the pure protectors and The Pallbearer Walks Alone that's about what's going to happen in the new system...
Great video Will, didn't saw another video on this topic so far!
The moment you took that purple yam, I knew you were gonna love it. Purple yam inside Thai Curry is also insanely good.
So freaking good.
Not here in Thailand. Nobody puts purple yam in curry here.

My mom is Okinawan and died 2 years ago at age 69. She started to have health problems in her 40s after moving to the US. She gained weight eating fast food and other American food. She died of sepsis after having type 2 diabetes on insulin, kidney failure, high blood pressure and cholesterol, and on dialysis for the last 5 years of her life.

@@Beaneabean no shit. My point is. Being Japanese has nothing to do with long life. It has everything to do with diet and how you take care of yourself.

As you said the absence of stress is probably a big reason why they live that long. A part of that is the way they live in their community : they hangout every night drinking high proof low sugar alcool moderately. It is assumed to deepen socials bonds and participate actively to reduce stress. You can also add the proximity with nature : in Japan they are many researches and care center centered around Shinri Yoku, basically "forest baths", with is supposed to have many benefits, especially on stress levels.
Will you should for 30 days train to get into the splits and see the results, cause your adductors are TIGHT!

Probably the only good youtube fitness creator, impressively entertaining as always Will!
This actually placed a smile on my face. I have watched many videos of you trying different training and diets of many people, and this made me happy. I've been practicing Okinawan Goju Ryu for about five years. To see you practice it and explain many things while trying it are the exact things I would hear my teachers (well Sensei) mention when they were teaching us in class, during conventions, and even during Kangeiko. Even speaking on focusing on the now versus the future, is something I've learned too, to focus and appreciate the journey.
Arigato Gozaimatsu.
That kimono lol! I heard somewhere that pork is a big part of the Okinawan diet prior to and after WWII, but I'm not sure if that is accurate 😀
It's totally accurate. Not only in Okinawa, I should say from "kiushu" to Okinawa pork is highly consumed by the people in this area. And believed or not they love sweets flavors. Their diets although is high in vegetables is also very high in fat. So do the math, the real reason why they live longer is not just for what they eat but for the their lifestyle they have consistently
That is true. "Blue Zones", have been debunked. These places where people "live over 100 and don't eat meat", actually consume meat very frequently. I have been to Okinawa more than once. They eat lots of pork and lots of fish.
Cap. Do you all honestly know how hard is it to raise land meat? It's f.king hard. Most people were vegetarian or pescatarian back then not because they want to but because they need to. Most peasants are required to tend the land, they don't have space for pigs.
Yes, Ive lived one year in iriomote island and one year in ishigaki island, they raised pork since before ww2, they eat boar with noodles, there is scrabled eggs with a bunch of vegetables and sometimes Spam. They snack a fried dumpling and eat sugar cane sweets.
Tebichi which is roasted pork knee is also a very traditional dish
Not to mention they consume awanori, a 40% alcoholic beverage
@@kenchanwaki If we do the math, Japanese aren't consuming large amounts of fat and potatoes, you can't have an adult obesity rate below 10% compared to the US 40% by eating the same, it's physically impossible and American of Japanese descent will be much more in line with US obesity rates than Japan so there's no genetic miracle or anything. People form eating patterns probably in their formative years and before 1980 diets wouldn't have had high meat because it's too expensive. Maybe now younger people below 50 have diets that have more meat and other things not that healthy and they probably won't live as long.
By far the best fitness UA-camr. You always make me laugh. Top content!
My two "you know you're a Canadian" moments is when he challenges the geese to a fight but a few moments later is almost too polite to yell too loudly in the dojo.

Definitely recognize the issue of chasing the next thing instead of living in the moment, but I'm trying to pause more and enoying it! Very important lesson! Greetings from a Swede in Beijing ☀️🍖
idk if it's a Brazilian thing, but we don't eat the passion fruit, we treat it like a lime. Best way to consume a passion fruit is to make it into juice

I love their community centric attitude too. The emphasis on social interaction is part of their longevity.
This video was really good and eye opening. Thanks Will
I'm loving this episode more personality shining. Great work Will!
i think it's important to note that the 80% of eating is from sharing a meal LOL. i hope people don't take away that it's more important to eat less to live a longer life, but the portions are small because it's shared, but there's usually a variety of side dishes that are mainly vegetable-based (and prepped ahead of time to eat throughout the week for every meal because after the war, it was important to utilize everything). but also, there's a very sweet saying in most asian cultures that's like "watching you eat something deliciously makes me full," so i promise if someone loves you, you aren't starving 😂
Love the content will!
Thanks!

Okinawa is great, doesn't feel as japanese as other places in Japan, but the food is great, people are friendly and they also drink a lot! I had a very fun time in there
Love the effort they put in the video
Hey Will me and my kids love you're channel, cheers man
I've actually been making it habit to eat my meals without any distractions--no phone, no tv, no NOTHING. It's interesting Will brings this up because I've learned that metabolism is triggered by a hormone called Leptin, which DECREASES appetite (when to start digesting), and releases Ghrelin, which INCREASES appetite (prepares for ingestion)... technically, multitasking isn't real. So, when you're distracted while eating, your body's metabolism doesn't know what to do or which hormone to release. Just a fun fact for anyone who reads the comments, okay bye
Bye :)
I don't think that's entirely true, just partly. That's kinda like saying since multitasking doesn't exist when you brush your teeth in the morning your body doesn't know to pulse out testosterone, or it doesn't know to release adrenaline if you take Ephedrine while watching TV. Some functions in our bodies are involuntary
Why dont you back it up with a source?
Victoria is cool af she doesn't get enough recognition.
One of the best messages in a video as well as best train like video. One of my favorite videos from you man.

Actually i noticed the older generation in Asia typically don't snack or eat fruits as a snack, contrary to the pastries, biscuits and fried chips that modern society eats. By the way there's lots of strange wonderful fruits down in the tropical regions. FYI if u can find the golden dragon fruit (yellow outside and white on the inside), that is sweet and freakin delicious, super refreshing. Plus dragon fruit is great for getting u to go to the loo cos of the very high fibre content.

As a former black belt and a lover of Karate, I can’t explain how much I enjoyed that content especially that you gave it a real go. Kudos 👌
I recently got hit with carpel tunnel syndrome, on top of scoliosis, arthritis and a missing hip femur. I now kinda wished I'd build up more functional movements like getting up and down easily, with as little involvement of my hands as possible. I feel we easily fall into the trap of, if it hurts or is damaged, move less, rather than find ways to move around it and it's not a fun way to grow old.
(Given I'm still young, but many issues solidified in my childhood living by these believes from my parents combined with the bad luck of some disease and morbid obesity.)
Reading that gives me pain in the spine🥶

When you are 27 you prefer gains.
When you are 37 you prefer gains, good credit and thinking about health.
When you're 47 you want to maintain fitness, strength, totally avoid injury and concerned about your health.
When you are 57 you want to be fit, forget gains, health is primary concern...eat better.
When you are 67 and older, you prefer longevity.

As a Canadian, give us statistics on how many calories the average Canadian eats in a day. Also, if you notice something that is rarely talked about, most blue zones are next to some sea!
Yes they consume some fish too but I think what make them live so long is their caloric restriction and whole plant-based diet, also probably due to less stress on average.
