Cooley you're my hero. So refreshing to see automotive reviews that are just that, reviews. Please keep up the great work. It's great that you make it about the cars and include areas of practicality. Real car guys can appreciate your comprehensive, non- biased, information.
Decent car the masses and will be a huge winner in large scale rental fleets. Not a fast car, but never meant to be one. Adequate power and engine doesn't feel taxed because of the good torque curve. MPG is solid without resorting to tricks.
I’m driving one now (almost 9 years old) and the only service it’s needed is fluid changes+tires. The touch screen doesn’t quite work right so you can’t use the Bluetooth but outside of that everything works as it should.
The "B" mode on the Prius is not really "more advanced regenerative braking" as you state in your video. It's more like a low gear for descending hills. I'm betting that the same "B" is translated into this new corolla which makes it a necessary part of the transmission to help you descend hills safely. In other words, B replaces L on most other transmissions.
bought an eco 2 weeks ago. so far so good. 38 mpg average on a 70/30 hi-way/city. had a best 44 mpg on a good traffic and a worst 28 on a 10km crawl to a bridge during an accident. ride is smooth but acceleration is not so great after a complete stop.. but can't complain. toes and thumbs up!!
Oh tell me about it. I test drove a Civic and a Fit, and the tech is just... not as good. It looks snazzy for sure, with its all-touch-no-button interface, but its not very functional, there is limited app support, the touchscreen is somewhat unresponsive, and the nav is not at all up to snuff. The Civic is a fine car in other senses, but not as far as tech goes.
buildmorefarms100 It's still behind some of its competition though. The Uconnect head unit in the Dart is rated for best interface and I'm also intrigued to know how well Sync 3 performs in Fords' cars.
Corolla isn't a piece of shit. It may not be speedy and all that but it is worth the money you put into it. It may not be sporty like other cars but it was never intended to be built to be sporty. Toyota's (Let's go places) is true. It will take you to point a and b with no problems and hassle.
I got this car without the enhanced radio, got the moon roof which to me, I don't understand why it didn't come with those freatures. the seats are easily stained, I drive between highway and city a lot and I average 25-33mpg. In 5 months I have 10000 miles already. I did get the le eco plus
Daniel Tran It's an economy car, I don't really see why it should come with a moon roof standard. Also, I must ask, do you drive like a typical crazed teen?
I don't know why it came with moon roof but I love it. I'm not a teen, I don't understand why you assume I'm a teenager, the fact is I am an adult who pays his own bills. I own the car, with my own earned money. I got the car for fuel efficiency, 9months of driving and I hit 16,000 miles for errands, family and work.
FanaticGuide's Video Game LP's and more... I would have but the Prius was out of my price range, and the 2007 that was there was a brown-tan color whch I think is ugly, high mileage and had a weird odor.
Daniel Tran I know a Prius that is the exact same model year and and exact same color and has high mileage and is associated with my family. In that car, the dash is just a hunk of hard plastic, but overall material quality is good.
I have the LE Eco base model which is the best deal if you don't live in a cold climate. My car was $16250 before taxes and fees. I get 37 mpg combined 75% hwy and 25% city. Car has great Bluetooth and backup camera standard. Interior is great and it has actual a knob for volume. Ride is great balance and less noisy than say an impreza or civic. Steering is nicely weighted. Engine power is plenty enough for daily commutes and hill climbs. Great car, get it. le eco base model is not a stripper model and is the best deal.
Last week I rented a 2014 corolla LE (non eco) and I liked it. I mean it's not a lambo or something.. I had a 2012 taurus before it got repoed and liked it much better. However, compared to the 09 aveo I used to have and the 2012 civic that is my mom's but I drive a lot now, the corolla was nice. The braking mode that you can shift into is basically like shifting down in a regular automatic. It holds you at a good speed while descending hills. I really like hid and led headlights, they are very nice in general. Although not as nice for somebody driving toward you going the other way. I spent about 7 night time driving hours in the corolla I had and most of it was on back roads in PA. I barely felt the need to even use the high beams that's how good the lows are. I did get flashed by people thinking I had my highs on about 10-15 times in my 7 hours (about 200 miles) worth of driving at night. I really, really, really hope that more cars start coming with factory hids and leds. Hopefully now with the corolla coming with them more car makers will put them into cheaper vehicles.
Hi there, I am interested in 2015 corolla LE ECO CVT. I am wondering does the navigation system integrated in the system, in other words , I do not need to download to map from Apple store ? Thanks for your assistance
Here in Puerto Rico the Corolla sells like hot cakes, and here, the "B" mode of the transmission makes sense, because we have a lot of very steep roads, and you have to downshift to second or low to make it down safely, but since this is a CVT, makes sense having that mode...
i have a 2014 and my car does not have the added feature as the LE plus is there any other feature, is there any way that you can add some apps to the car from my iphone
silverdragon3234 Close but not quite. The S stands for sport and it makes the car keep its RPM up, great for climbing hills. The B position favors lower gears and increases engine drag to help slow the Corolla while coasting down a hill. When opposites meet I guess.
OK I looked in an old Mercedes owner's manual and here's what the gear letters mean: S = Slope, L = Low. Still don't know what a B means. I'd guess Bottom.
***** The Corolla doesn't have an L position so that's pretty much out of the question. Here's where I found my information though: toyota.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7871/~/what-are-the-s-and-b-gear-shift-positions-used-for-on-the-2014-corolla%3F
Does anyone else have issues with this car being obnoxiously loud? I feel like my car has some sort of synthetic muscle car sound and it's driving me crazy. The sound just sort gets louder the faster you go
Cars are expensive these days because of inflation. That's what happens when your government charges up their credit card to pay for things they can't afford and then prints more money to try and pay the bills. I remember when my sister purchased her 1991 Accord LX brand new, it cost $16k out the door.
$16,000 in 1991 is equivalent to $30,200 today. MSRP on a 2020 Accord LX is $24,800. The 2020 Accord is not only cheaper than the 1991, but is also a much better car.
Say what u want to say but corolla is still the number 1 selling car in the word, plus this model is widely improve.Mazda 3 looks great but dont expect much yrs out of it just not durable as a corolla or a civic.
Actually slightly appealing. I have a 2012 Focus and I'm not overly impressed with the couple of problems I've had. Still a great car, but the transmission is garbage.
B = engine breaking. It drops gears not as a low mode but to slow the car down without hitting the brakes. Great for a big truck but silly on a compact car.
Think mountains or ski hills and then it becomes useful. In all my other cars I can just manually shift the automatic into a lower gear in the isolated circumstances when I need it; the CVT eliminates that choice other than the "B".
I found this car very boring compare to my 2014 VW jetta se 1.8 turbo but don't get me wrong it gets the job done from point a to point b just not as fast but u will arrive to ur destination eventually
True, but 93 corollas literally cost less than 5% of what this cost, and they're nice too, just throw a couple hundred in for interior and it's really nice
Alex Jacobson I did have a cold air intake and some other stuff + it's a manual, also I sea foamed both gas and oil, that stuff works miracles, but yeah, sold it and got a celica gt so now I kick it's ass by 1 second ;D
It's a better looking Corolla but why doesn't the US bring the EU and Japan models? They don't look as bland. Regardless...Toyota knows what they're doing. The numbers of Corollas sold is massive. The amount of Corollas still running is beyond 75%....
This is a car that's gonna last 20 years, not many cars will go that far.
Doesn't have a lot of power, but does everything else really well.
And it actually has a good amount of style too, without trying too hard (Focus)
Evander Smart You think the Focus tries too hard? That's kind of sad. If anything, the Elantra is the one you should've mentioned.
The Corolla no longer uses a hydraulic power steering system. It now has an electric power steering motor. It saves a couple of horsepower

Don't forget that corolla is the best selling car in the world since its introduction and no other manufacturers have ever reached that milestone
got one for 4 months now. been averaging 39mpg and had a best 52mpg on a 50 minute 30/70 city/hiway drive to work.
How much did u get it for if u dont mind? :)
Is it still going strong?
Do you have the LE Eco trim like the one in the video?
I’m driving one now (almost 9 years old) and the only service it’s needed is fluid changes+tires. The touch screen doesn’t quite work right so you can’t use the Bluetooth but outside of that everything works as it should.
The best built car in the world for its price point as proven by its HUGE sales. I know these last WELL over 500,000 miles with the SAME engine!
My parents put over 300k on one, with almost no repairs.
Ours is 17 and still drives like new. Must love corollas
I think B can stand for L for Low? You know, downhill driving?
You are right and S is not sport, it stands for second.
No @@melmar07, S stands for standard

B on the shifter is good for going down snowy icy hills in the winter
Better looking Corolla and best interior....super super reliable.

How does the transmission feel to you? Any issues? I drove a '16 Corolla yesterday and the tranny seemed a little rougher than I expect from Toyota.
The Corolla navi and tech are worlds ahead of Civic.
Oh tell me about it. I test drove a Civic and a Fit, and the tech is just... not as good. don't you mean horizontally?

Which is why it sucks, just get a Prius

I've never seen a review like this... Super video and review!!!
Our 1996 big body corolla would be SO PROUD
0:32 Coincidentally the 2014 infiniti Q50 Offered LED headlights as well standard
A premium executive compact versus a mainstream, affordable compact though
Wow the corolla has changed since the last model by a huge margin.
Can yall please do the 2015 Camry?? I would really like CNET's insight on it.
Brian, any plans to do a review of the elio car? I seem to only find fan boy reviews of the car never a real person review.
do a review about valvematic engine

I've been denying my desire to own a Toyota for 4 years next year might change that!
the king is back
Just hit 120,000 no issues 👌
Love my 11th Gen S Premium. Too bad Toyota wasn't smart enough to offer heated seats with the manual like they did in Canada.

wantsanewvehicle I stopped reading when you compared a Corolla to a "lambo or something". I knew this comment wouldn't be at all an intelligent one.
Wu Wei Xu lol whatever works for you :)
"before it got repo'd"
Sounds like someone had no business stretching to that much car and cost
Is it me or did Cooley make that car sound almost perfect?
I love the new design of the Corolla
Hi there,
I am interested in 2015 corolla LE ECO CVT.
I am wondering does the navigation system integrated in the system, in other words , I do not need to download to map from Apple store ?
Thanks for your assistance
Ruizhi Liu Navigation is integrated with the car itself. It has nothing to do with Apple.
Here in Puerto Rico the Corolla sells like hot cakes, and here, the "B" mode of the transmission makes sense, because we have a lot of very steep roads, and you have to downshift to second or low to make it down safely, but since this is a CVT, makes sense having that mode...
Pls which colour is this and the number for paint
If you still want to know, it looks like slate metallic, color code 1F9
i have a 2014 and my car does not have the added feature as the LE plus is there any other feature, is there any way that you can add some apps to the car from my iphone
Pamela Saunders I never heard of anyone upgrading the functionality of their current head unit before, so I assume no.
that is mess up. all i want is to add the Entune to my car.
Pamela Saunders That's how it goes. It's the same with the new Sync 3 from Ford. Previous Ford model owners can't update to the new Sync 3.
thank u for the info
Is navigation standard on the LE ECO model?
dippafly Here in Canada, navigation is optional on both the S and LE ECO models, never standard. I'd imagine it's similar/same in the US or otherwise.
Please , what it is the COLOR of this corolla , thanks !
Slate Metallic. Very hip and metro.
Yep. I just got the '15 LE (non Eco) in this color. It's absolutely gorgeous in person, especially when it's clean.
Very nice car, I own the 2012 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid and I love it.
Toyota is still the best. Can't beat the engine in them.
plea show me where is cigarette lighter fuse toyota corolla 2014 location.thank
There isn't one. Don't smoke in a car anyway
Doesn't mean he smokes. That's the common name for the outlet though.
I love this review
My '14 mazda3s touring was 24k and has 40 hp more. Same economy n other options . N actually fun to drive
satan503 lol
24 grand for a corolla? a couple years ago you could get an accord SE w/leather for that.
what color is that??
I think it might be Slate Metallic, Color Code: 1F9
They need to go back to the 96 model, it was the best looking.
I totally agree! In that plum purple with a wing and spoiler !!!!
the "S" is actually engine brake and "B" is maximum engine brake. its equivalent to shifting an auto transmission from "D" to "2" or "1".
silverdragon3234 They used to put a "B" on some automatic mercedes in the 80s
silverdragon3234 Close but not quite. The S stands for sport and it makes the car keep its RPM up, great for climbing hills. The B position favors lower gears and increases engine drag to help slow the Corolla while coasting down a hill. When opposites meet I guess.

Anyone noticed the battery icon on the screen?huh?
It's the battery life of your paired phone.
I've never really liked Toyota but they did a good job on the new corolla
They are the highest quality manufacturer in the world, for decades.
its got a cvt transmission
There's no reason for corolla, civic and mazda 3 not sitting in the top 3 selling car of year.
24K? I bought my 2013 corolla le for 16,500
What Andy said, the civic and sentra are also at this price point. Cars are expensive these days
Does anyone else have issues with this car being obnoxiously loud? I feel like my car has some sort of synthetic muscle car sound and it's driving me crazy. The sound just sort gets louder the faster you go

i really love toyota corolla thumbs up if u agree...
i own a toyota corolla 2010
Tone down the music on the video. Other than that, keep up the great reviews :)
I'm hoping toyota will release a hatchback version
Your wish is granted, but the hatch is very small.
Civics and sentras can cost 24k as well

You can buy a 2014 Mazda 6 touring manual, REALLY well equipped for 24k
Actually pretty good
The new Mazda 3 eats Corollas for breakfast.
Not the point, is it?
its not an LE ECO, an le eco does not have dual air conditioning nor leather. thats either in the S class or an LE Premium
Even though he says it's a Plus, it's actually the LE Eco Premium
Both the focus and especially the 3 are better cars in terms of power and overall performance.
Ford focus please

True, but 93 corollas literally cost less than 5% of what this cost, and they're nice too, just throw a couple hundred in for interior and it's really nice

24k for a fully loaded corolla. It starts at around 17k.

The S has a very different front fascia.

corollas last forever, not very exciting. been driving it for almost 5 years only had oil changes and tighten a bolt for the driver side window.
You nailed it. Boring, but excellent transportation that will never die.
