I dig the dash in these corollas. Like back to the 70's. Nice looking car.
We get 40-44mpg on a highway trip in our 2014 Corolla S Plus CVT at 65-70mph.
I remember my friend bought one and his family very lucky with it.
got mine a month ago. been averaging 39 mpg on a 30/70 city/hiway driving.
I rented the car for some time before making my choice. I too was taken aback by the millage. But what did the car in for me was the arm rests. You'll notice while Chris is driving he rests his right arm on the center console. That's essential for me on long rides. It works for Chris because he is 6ft and his chair moves back to the console meets his elbow and lower arm. I'm just under 5 9" and that middle console disappears because I have shorter legs. No where to put my left arm either without lowering the window. And on hot days, when that hard plastic meets the skin of your forearm, Ouch. Theirs more wrong with that front panel display than he's mentioning as well. But enough said.
Just spoke to a sales guy about the hard plastic by the side windows that Chris mentioned about. the guy said toyota put hard plastic there to help prevent or reduce the injury that may cause to your elbow if the windows suddenly close....sounds like BS-ing, but at least that's really creative lol. if that's the case, you will only need hard plastic on the passenger side.
nice explanations
I did not noticed a lot of additional room in cabin. Similar to previous one. But generally guess it is a good car, without some extra luxury.
Those ally rims should be available on the other trim levels.
what about that LED headlight..i heard it comes standard. autobytel did not talk about it and their views
lexusfan100 Standard LED headlights and day-time running lights per Toyota. But everyone has LED headlights these days it seems.
Autobytel Incorrect. Almost everyone has LED DRLs, not headlights. Most cars still use halogen low beams. Corolla is the first high volume affordable car to come standard.
@ AlexandDad1000, you are right, i owned the same Corolla as yours and it does the same as you mentioned on your post.
I noticed the cheap console lid at the auto show.
"Compact" cars in general are getting bigger compared to just 5 years ago. That is the reason for the emerging sub-compact category.
Chris probably forgot to turn the eco mode on.
Can someone from autobytel please do a review on the 2014 nissan sentra? Thanks!
Is it reliable
The newer corollas are better than the newer civics I hate those. The best civic was the 7th generation 2001-2005 hands down
For no particular reason whenever the Asian guy shows up with his ad about how to make money. I always watch it completely. He really thinks he is going to fool me.
I'm surprised at how much lower the Gas mileage (Real world vs advertised) is on this model...the non-eco versions gets just about the same MPG and its cheaper.
Someone needs to investigate these MPG numbers.....i think Toyota is pulling a VW with these eco models and also the hybrids.......
Front seats still suck. 2nd row is great. Decent trunk room. Looks fine. Meh engine numbers.
Drum brakes, seriously?
2014 Civic EX is way better gonna pick
AAHAHA "In the furute I'm expecting the engine to be in the furture" NOPE IT NOT
132 hp @ 6000 rpm, 128 lb.-ft. @ 4400 rpm sad for nonhybrid is sad......
140 hp @ 6100 rpm, 126 lb.-ft. @ 4000 rpm ECO one still sad...
CVT being standard= lets see a couple years from now how reliable it gets
For 23 grand I would seriously consider the new Mazda 3. It is the whole package and stays away from the economy style car feel that the Corolla has. The interior also blows this away.
paych geronimo for 23K i wouldn't get a compact car. I just picked up a 2014 Camry for 22k which is much better than the Corolla
I think that's called a small sedan. The compact is like the Honda Fit etc. Either way, That things like a little slug. I need to really move when I hit the gas.
paych geronimo
if you think that car is slow you should drive a Nissan Sentra. Seriously, its like Nissan didnt want that car to be sold
The VW Jetta is a bit on the bland driving side too. Sporty, great handling cars w/ excellent pickup are available for this kind of money. Who buys these lame cars anymore?
The thing that bothers me the most about the Corolla is the terrible crash safety.
Toyota Corolla
-_- how people don't fall asleep behind the wheel when driving this
it's really hard ... i try to listen to rock but sometimes i fall a sleep regardless.
thanks for a good presentation. well spoken. it helped!
