Getting real tired of these "car guys" calling Toyotas boring. Let me tell you something. I owned a Mustang before and that thing broke down so many times that just trying to get home from work was an adventure. I'll take reliable over adventurous any day!
Then those car guys aren't really "car guys" or car enthusiasts, are they? Someone who truly loves cars will see the great things a car has to offer, even a Prius. As for me, I love every type of car and learning about them.
I love the all new corolla well done Toyota! I drove one today it handles really well and is very comfortable. I used to hate corolla's just cause they were so blah and bland but after sitting in one you start to understand why they are the #1 selling compact
I like the styling. I used to drive a 2006 Corolla S. I sold it several years ago cause it got too small for me (I'm over 6ft). It didn't have a single problem for the 5 1/2 years I drove it. This version is surprisingly much roomier than my 06 was & I have plenty of room whenever I sit in one at the LA Auto Show I go to every year. I went with a Camry though cause the Corolla isn't powerful enough for my tastes & I bought one with the V6 for it's extra refinement & rarity.
I have a 2016 now and I love it. I plan on having for at least another 2 or 3 years. Even when gas was $4 plus I still wasn’t going broke at the gas station so I can’t complain at all
Agree. However, Toyota knows it can't lose their faithful Corolla customers. I just wish the LE Eco engine and transmission comes available as an option in the higher trim levels, mainly the S.
I have the 2008, got it in 2007...last time of that type, for me I like the older 2000's styling...and the later 2000's ( 2002 - 2009 ). The newer ones seem to have no real good styling, but I like the interior better than mine, and the years I mentioned, plus finally in the trunk a better idea for the cargo...a rubber liner for those muddy boots!!
I didn't like it when I first saw it, but now I love it! Looks a lot better than the 10th gen! I drove a 9th gen 2006 Corolla S for 5 1/2 years with no problems & now drive a 2007 Nissan Altima, but am planning to go back to Toyota when the time comes cause I've had some problems with my Altima even though it's a very fun car. I would buy a Camry though cause I want a very roomy car like my Altima provides for me now. I'm over 6ft tall & the Corolla isn't roomy enough for me anymore.
Jumped in one the other day. Was surprised at the amount of soft touch materials, but then the new Mazda3 also has a lot of soft touch materials too. My old E39 is no doubt a lot more thrilling to drive though.
Does he have to talk like that? Anyway, I got this car this past weekend (LE model, I'm a broke college kid haha) and I FREAKING LOVE IT!! Coming from a gas guzzling Jeep for over 3 years, it took me a while to get used to driving a "car" again (1st car was a 98' Sentra), but I got comfortable with it & I couldn't be happier.
Not only Toyota faithful will be thrilled, also a new Toyota Corolla buyers. Im a Honda Civic faithful, but with the Civic current model. It reminds me of 2001 Dodge Neon. And the interior is to futuristic for my likings. I miss the old Civic interior with simple dashboard/gauges... or at least design it close to current Honda Accord interior/gauges.
Yah it's a shame really I agree with you. We have a 2012 Camry XLE Hybrid and a 2013 Avalon Limited Hybrid. This Corolla interior resembles the Avalon interior.
SE is a little cheaper, I'm 19 so the XLE still looks like something my 58 y/o mother would buy, plus the seats are cooler (half leather half swede), paddle shifters , and the rims on the V6 look a hell of a lot better.
Lol twins xD I'm going to get the Barcelona Red, Attitude Black, Super White or Classic Silver (still haven't decided) with 1/2 leather & cloth seats, convenience pkg. etc. I'll inbox you a link similar to the one I'm going to buy when I get the financing finalized.
Why still just available in sedan form? At least the Civic and Elantra are available as coupes. Do the people who buy Corollas really need a four door car?
So Corollas might change on the outside..they all have the same tranny and engine since 2004 or so? 1.8 liter. Yes,its weak..but man it's tank and very - unbelievable - reliable.
I have to say this a well done car that doesn't have a cheap feeling and in many ways rivals the Camry. The interior has a higher quality to it than the base Camrys and the Avalonish style dash (also used in the newest Lexus ES/GS models) makes the Camry already look dreadfully dated. The engine is just fine - this ain't no race car and no one will drive it as such.
Drove this car as a rental in S trim for a week and overall it is a decent car. Ride is a little rough because of the low profile tires. Handling is improved over previous gens. Interior and trunk space is amazing. CVT pairs well extracting the limited engine power. Got 36mpg combined. Didn't like the tiny rear backup screen which is too low in the dash. Road noise is high. Makes for a good traffic commuter car as it's highly maneuverable, easy to see out of, and CVT makes the car jump in response to throttle.
@ nelcanuck......ur right. Toyotas never do. Seen how the camry fared? Not good. Tacoma? Nope. That is why toyota puts so many airbags, i think.......lol
The ridiculous blue headlights blind me every time I see car when I drive at night. Toyota did a really bad job executing the LED headlights. Blinding oncoming traffic is very dangerous. This car should be recalled. Extremely disappointed.
What's better? I'm a corolla guy, never had a civic, im curious. I have an le eco. On the highway 65-70 with cruise control i can get over 50 mpg. In bumper to bumper city with ac on ive never gotten less than 36.5, it's amazing
@@876r876rf I have close family who own Corollas. There's nothing wrong with them, they're really good at being fuel efficient and practical but that's about it. Civics handle and accelerate better than Corollas when comparing the same generation, but sacrifice gas mileage and a slightly higher price point. I just weigh my values against what each car offers. I don't consider mpg meaningful because my last car was a mustang, so I didn't care whether my new one got 38 or 40 mpg.
All new my ass. Same engine, same chassis from 2006. The ONLY thing new about this car is the styling. If I wanted a car from 2006, I'd buy one from 2006, NOT a brand new Corolla. Toyota dun fucked up.
I rather buy a chevy cruze or a ford focus and keep My hard working money in the country that I love. Buy American stop this madness. Then Don't complaint that we don't have jobs stop sending the money over seas. U donmb fess. God bless America.
Hilarious. Did you know that Toyota was awarded the "All-American" car company of the year? How? Toyotas in USA are manufactured with more American components than Ford, GM etc. In fact, most of GM and Ford components are made in Mexico and China, and only a small portion of the car is domestic. If you want an American car buy Japanese, if you want a Chinese/Mexican car buy American. I support American jobs, unlike you, "Mr. Lopez", who seems more concerned for your cousins across the Southern border, rather than American jobs.
JayCee Garcia Yes, for example, the American MotorTrend Car of The Year Award, which from 1949 to 1999 only considered "American" cars, but then had to include "non-American" cars because, in the words of car analyst Angus Mackenzie..."it's so hard to say that, for example, a Toyota Camry, built in Kentucky USA and designed in California USA, is any less American than a Ford that has been built in Canada or Mexico and designed in Europe."
Don't complain that we don't have jobs? Toyota employs more than 30,000 Americans. Doesn't matter if the profit goes overseas, Americans are still getting paid.

Still a Ford guy. But the rolla is not bland to me
I test drove the 2014 Corolla S last week and it was an awesome car, Nice interior and features. Drove up a steep hill and still felt the pull.
I can't believe this is the same guy who's always done MotorWeek.
Good for him!
Just bought a 2014 S with 58,000 miles on it.
FINGERS CROSSED!!!
How is it?
Do you still have it?
I love the all new corolla well done Toyota! I drove one today it handles really well and is very comfortable. I used to hate corolla's just cause they were so blah and bland but after sitting in one you start to understand why they are the #1 selling compact
Toyota Corolla is beautiful car
I have a 2010 LE. I love it!
my le eco does not disappoint. ride is so smooth and i'm gettng a 39mpg on a 30/70 city hway route to work. had a best 44 mpg.
I drive a 2010 Corolla and I love it and I love this new one its perfect! Not to much but not too boring.
i like that the LED headlights come standard on all models. that's a win for corolla
I like the styling. I used to drive a 2006 Corolla S. I sold it several years ago cause it got too small for me (I'm over 6ft). It didn't have a single problem for the 5 1/2 years I drove it. I now have a 2014 LE Eco and I love it, it is the blizzard pearl and to me it's gorgeous, drives smooth, and has a much quieter cabin. :)
I would love to see the Corolla get a coupe version and/or hatchback version. Compact car should have at least two models to choose.
Charles allen jr Toyota (formerly Scion) iM!
Is the year 2018 and yes we have a hatch back..😂
And ur wish came true
As of the 2nd week of july I'm planning to buy my 1st corrolla. Not my first toyota but I'm excited.
Indeed it is, and the LED headlights are very bright as seen on some toyotanation forums
Can't wait to get my TOYOTA COROLLA S
That´s true and even in the past have been two door configuration models, they should bring 'em back!
I have the 2008, got it in 2007...last time of that type, for me I like the older 2000's styling...and the later 2000's ( 2002 - 2009 ). Just curious. How is a broke college kid able to afford a new car? Just wondering.
Livy Avalon ..........Things happen.
It is best to avoid more Debt. Buy Used. Or go Car Free. College kids should ride a bicycle.
I'm 6'1" & fit fine in the new Corolla. I'm still going to be buying a Camry SE V6.
I got the 2019 se 1.8 6 speed manual it's a good car dont get the cvt and I didn't want the new 2.0 with gdi
Not only Toyota faithful will be thrilled, also a new Toyota Corolla buyers. Im a Honda Civic faithful, but with the Civic current model. It reminds me of 2001 Dodge Neon. Dam the interior is 2 good. I mean it looks better than my 2013 camry se v6!!!
Why not get the Camry XLE V6? It's more luxurious and the ride is not as harsh. The handling is fine too.
My 98 running like a charm
I would love that. I would love it even more if it used the 4 cyl Camry engine
Love it . It is a good car
I would like to see them add either a 2 door coupe or 5 door hatchback or both.
I just wish mine (S with CVT) had more power. My company car is a '10 Ford Focus and it can blow the doors off this.
Yah it's a shame really I agree with you. We have a 2012 Camry XLE Hybrid and a 2013 Avalon Limited Hybrid. This Corolla interior resembles the Avalon interior.
The XLE can have the leather/ultra suede seats as well.
SE is a little cheaper, I'm 19 so the XLE still looks like something my 58 y/o mother would buy, plus the seats are cooler (half leather half swede), paddle shifters , and the rims on the V6 look a hell of a lot better.
Does anyone know if the "S" trim models had stiffer suspension?
I did read somewhere that the S has a "sport tuned" suspension but whether that means the struts are different is unknown to me
Finally it looks comparable to the Civic.
Cool! Thats exactly what I would buy!
I'm going to get one at jan 1 can't wait
Have they done a more extensive test on this car? They didn't do the track test on it.
I don't necessarily agree with you. The XLE looks nice with the 17 inch rims and I'm 29
Oh yeah I love my corrla
Toyota is made here in America...check out the Marysville ohio toyota plant.transmissions are however made in japan..
What are you talking about? S models do have disc brakes
I rather settle with my 2010 Toyota Corolla S, but still give praise to the 2014 Corolla S.
South Florida’s most common car on the road. They’re all over the road. Lol!
corolla is my first car but i give that to my brother to pass down. i like it but they should offer better feature compare to other car.
still have my 97
1998 here!
Nice update, but DRUM bakes??!!
they should bring out an xrs version for the fans
Not too bad this car was long overdue
I’m still rocking my 1996 Corolla. I have no need to buy a newer Corolla.
Keep it. Those are a gem and the best Corolla made.
The Corolla S would look better with a simpler, classic 5 spoke alloy wheel design.
Didn't do great in the IIHS SMALL overlap crash test :(
at 40 miles an hour?
Lol twins xD I'm going to get the Barcelona Red, Attitude Black, Super White or Classic Silver (still haven't decided) with 1/2 leather & cloth seats, convenience pkg. etc. I'll inbox you a link similar to the one I'm going to buy when I get the financing finalized.
Why still just available in sedan form? At least the Civic and Elantra are available as coupes. Do the people who buy Corollas really need a four door car?
good, but still love mi AE 91
+TheManInDboX yeah..the feeling and the sound you when going though the rev range. it just awesome
So Corollas might change on the outside..they all have the same tranny and engine since 2004 or so? 1.8 liter. Yes,its weak..but man it's tank and very - unbelievable - reliable.
with the same 2.4 engine as the matrix probably.

No, S models have discs available. You fail, just like believing the Cruze doesn't come standard with drums.

TThat gen was better. But the 2018 ( to the usa 2019 ) Rolla will be even more sweet
@ nelcanuck......ur right. Toyotas never do. Seen how the camry fared? Not good. Tacoma? Nope. That is why toyota puts so many airbags, i think.......lol
One of these hit my 73 Olds Regency, they had to cut the guy out of the crumpled corolla, not even a scratch to the olds
yeah but the S model has gloss black. It looks better.
I like corolla , but u could get the altima which more bang for ur buck at the same price and also bigger.
Its has its big brother's look the Avalon.. People shut up about it looking like a VW better car than a VW thats made in Mexico.
thats all new vios
So we have tacky add ons with a 2010 S trim? Rude.
The chevy cruze is no better though.
i like the 2014 hyundai elantra better
The ridiculous blue headlights blind me every time I see car when I drive at night. Toyota did a really bad job executing the LED headlights. Blinding oncoming traffic is very dangerous. This car should be recalled. Extremely disappointed.
I love them! I want to put them in my '08 accord coupe
Current Honda civic is better in every meaningful way
What's better? I'm a corolla guy, never had a civic, im curious. I have an le eco. On the highway 65-70 with cruise control i can get over 50 mpg. In bumper to bumper city with ac on ive never gotten less than 36.5, it's amazing

way to "hip" looking. im not a fan of this redesign. and im not an old or middle aged person.
I HATE CVT GEARS

Man is that thing ugly. Hard to believe this was good looking in 2014 .. Hard to believe that it's been 5 years!
noo its stil booring!
Christian Its a Corolla not a hellcat.
Yawn
I rather buy a chevy cruze or a ford focus and keep My hard working money in the country that I love. Buy American stop this madness. Then Don't complaint that we don't have jobs stop sending the money over seas. U donmb fess. God bless America.

rope rider interesting! do you have a source for that? I'd love to show it to everyone who bashes toyota because they're a foreign company

Daniel Angeles agreed. My 2014 corolla has made in usa on it.
Another crappy design for Corolla... 40 years of crap
Yawn
