Great video, well explained. I have MSFS primarily to fly the classic DC-3 (and DC-6) I don't like the "push button and fly planes" that much and besides that, they don't have have that awesome piston sound - but hey, everyone has their own preference ;)
But after a while, especially on the long hauls and be able to do some site seeing, it comes in pretty handy to have the choice to fly the DC-3 using GPS and AP.
Although I have played with it for some days now it didn't work out that well for me, but after "studying" your video I'm able to enjoy the scenery a lot more, and do some monster flights without spending hours to write it all down on paper planning a flight (still great fun to fly "old school" though).
Thanks a bunch for the effort and sharing.

Thanks for your comments. I like having the heads up (HUD) exterior display on which can be done in Options Assistance. That way I can enjoy some scenery an monitor the flight instruments while outside the aircraft. Enjoy flying the friendly sky's in MSFS.

I’m having trouble getting it to work as well. I managed to get the heading hold to work last night by fluke but nav mode would not follow my flight plan. I’m using the Xbox version of the game too so I can’t zoom in very close to the instruments, I can hardly see what’s displayed on the Garmin screen so that doesn’t help matters 😂 I’ll try shifting the camera forwards on the closest view and try see what’s going on but yeah it’s very fiddly.

After much googling and playing around I found the problem was I was selecting nav too far from the line. You need to be right on it to guarantee it will work.

For the camera you can try to use the camera panel on top, then it should have set camera prefixes, atleast on pc, maybe you can get a good view of the Garmin from there

I can be downloaded free from the MSFS Marketplace. Go to Marketplace - Content Manager - search for DC3- ENHANCED and download.

Go to Marketplace in MSFS. Search under aircraft for DC3 Enhanced or DC3 Retrofit. If it is there try to download. If it is not there then maybe it is no longer available as a free download. Not sure why heading bug is not working.

You need to set your heading then activate heading mode and autopilot. Hope that works.

I’d let you know where where is the heading knob. I’ve been trying every knob that change direction in one of the instruments and none of them change the head.

On auto pilot the heading is taken care of for you. There are heading dials next to the compasses on the cockpit instrument panel if you want to fly manual.
