Was a total Les fan until Ian came into the band. Les done a good job with this song but Ian is just perfect for it. As a teenager I was so in love, the cutest face I've ever seen, wish I had gotten to meet him
I was 7 and totally in love for the first time - with Ian Mitchell! lol. This began my lifelong fascination with all things from the UK, so much so that I studied British literature and listened only to music from the UK. I even married a Brit. I know these guys are Scotsmen (and Ian is N. Irish), but the accent DID ME IN when I was in first grade and set me up for life. Bay City Rollers RULE! I LOVE this song!!!
...you'll never no how much I love you, lying there, thinking of you, and all I've got is a late night music station...' OMG! More than 30 years and I still think they sing it in that moment only for me! My life just seem to went away in a quick-motion-picture!
I'm a couple of days late, but happy 50th birthday (Aug. 22) to our beautiful Ian !!! To me, he'll always be the angel faced 17 year old in this video ... alto he's still adorable today!
I've met Ian since the Rollers...he is still a charmer. What a babe...time hasn't changed him still so gorgeous. Ian Mitchell's Bay City Rollers.....he is a nice man..signed the back of my tshirt...I have it framed. I loved him so much back in the 70's, and he is still a wonderful guy!!!
Ian has always been my favorite. I still drool for him today. It doesn't matter how many years have passed. I still have all the issues of Tiger Beat with them in it (especially him). I LOVE YOU IAN! Erin go Bragh!!
Love Ian Mitchell when he was with the Rollers...I have seen him play in the last few years...as Ian Mitchell's Bay City Rollers...got the Rosetta Stone CD and he signed the back of my shirt!!!! What!!! Haha...omg, he is still so amazing and such a great person. Way to go Ian..and the rest of the guys, wherever you are. Loved them and love them all now.....
I wore this song out on the album. I had instantly fallen in love with Ian when he joined the group. He wasn't with them for long, but made an indelible mark. He's gone too soon, died over four months ago now...
PaOsfan: How can I thank you enough for posting this?? I am 46 and was so in love with the Rollers at age 14, 15. Esp. once Ian joined, I just went over the edge - haha! They are all so adorable. Ian is just soooooo cute, it brings tears to your eyes. 35 years later, you realize how wonderful their music was. Just hearing them makes you smile. THANKS AGAIN !!!
Ian is so cute. When I was a teenager, I saw him in his concerts. (rosetta stone,Ian Mitchell Band.) Of course, BCR too. I still wear tartan clothes sometimes.
I still love His music even after all these years. The fact that he's a great person makes it even better. How many other musicians are still with their "lass" after 20 years?
To TheCathy165: Isn't that funny? My mother, too, thought I was having some sort of breakdown, as well, when Ian left the Rollers. I was sobbing so hysterically!! I was totally obsessed with him. He's a super nice guy. I've e-mailed with him and he's funny, friendly and down-to-earth. He didn't mind answering my questions that he's probably been asked 5 trillion times. A great guy and still cute to this day! :)
@PaOsfan I agree with you. I liked the BCR before Ian joined the band, but after Ian became a part of the band, I followed them passionately. It thrilled me to see Ian come back later with Rosetta Stone and then with other bands. He's still a favorite to this day.
No, Ian sang it first. Jimmy Ienner chose Ian because of his youthful voice. It is up to the listener who's version they like better, but this will always be Ian's song. :)
I agree. Les was always my favorite, but this was always Ian’s song. Honestly, I wasn’t wild about Les’ version, and thought they should have just kept it at Ian’s. It’s hard to believe they’re both gone, along with Alan. I’m sure they’re all up there together harmonizing. ❤
Wow, this takes me back along time ago....Ian was my absolute favorite Bay City Roller...loved his innocense....there was something pure and simple of that era...
love ian! love this song .wish i could find rosetta stone records or cds if they make them again. lost mine in a flood a few years ago .lots of albums ill never find again!!!
I am a 43 year old Danish woman who was a big BCR fan when I was a teen. I got to meet Les and was the happiest girl until I saw him with his boyfriend John. It broke my poor teenage heart. Saw the BCR in concert about 15 years ago, where Les and Ian looked like a couple of old junkies. That was such a sad sight to see. But I still love the music and can still get the same feelings I got when I listend to once upon a star, you're a woman and all of the other great songs they did. Long live BCR
I have to say, this is one my many favorite songs....I have everything they ever recorded on CD's.......The only Album I kept to this day is their Dedication Album because on the inside of the album there is a picture of them taken at Nathan Philips Square in Toronto, Ontario Canada, and me and my friends camped out the night before just to see them in person the next day.......little did we know they would use that inside the record......were really surprised and now I can show my kids....
Wow,30-some odd years ago. Where has the time gone huh? I pretty much had my bedroom walls wallpapered with BCR pics cut from teen magazines. Saw a recent pic of Eric, my favorite Roller, he still looks great, and those eyes, Ohhhhh those eyes still make me melt.
My deepest condolences to you. I remember watching Ian on TV a few years back when he was touring in Northern California. I wish I had gone to see his shows then. I love Ians' "Dedication." RIP, Ian.
When Ian was asked to tour with Les, he was always great to Ian. And no, they no longer speak. Alan was leaving, Ian was asked to join the Rollers. What Les stated was true, Ian was a stranger, as anyone is in a new job. Ian was put in the front of photos because he was new. Not unusal. I doubt that any of the guys were jealous of a new 17 yr old member that it caused a conflict. Conflict comes from egos and creativity, not because of a boy. Chip butties. Ian still makes them.
Wendy A., thank you for sharing that with us! I love what you said: "Conflict comes from egos and creativity, not a boy." That is such a true statement!
What I realized after all those years is that all the infighting was Eric and Woody against Les and his ego. Ian, and then Pat got stuck in the middle. Though I'm sure that at the time, Eric and Woody had big egos as well.
hahaha my best friend liked Derek Longmuir and i liked Les until Ian came into the mix i remember watching this on a really dodgy station when i was about fifteen or sixteen. Pretty sure i was planning on marrying Ian until i met my recent husband haha. Even now though, this does bring back alot of happy memories.
@PaOsfan im with you! loved ian and was sad to see him go only wish i could find rosetta stone records again! i lost them awhile ago .rollers and ian forever!!!!
I love this video. First of all it reminds me of my big old clunky television set and it takes me back to what it felt like to be 17 and be obsessed by this band. Thanks for the memories!
I have to admit....I had a serious crush on Les and Ian.....greedy I was.....I thought they were both so hot at the time....this video brings back lots of memories.....I loved Ian's accent...wow......hottttt!! Thx for the delicious memories.........funny enough I'm discovering now how beautiful Eric's eyes were.....doh!!!!!
i saw the bay city rollers in 1977 at the iowa state fair....my bedroom was covered in posters ... i love them and play them all the time for my girls ")
Had I been in that audience, I don't think all the security in the world could have kept me from jumping up on that stage on Ian Mitchell. I love you Ian!!!!
oh I am! yes they are still great looking, I always wished the Rollers-all of them mind you, would get back together just one more time where we all could see them on stage. bummer it never happened.
イアンが大好きでした。やめてからロゼッタストーン時代も追いかけた。顔も声も大好きです。
Rest In Peace Ian. 💔😥🌹🇦🇺 Lou Lou
Was a total Les fan until Ian came into the band. Les done a good job with this song but Ian is just perfect for it. As a teenager I was so in love, the cutest face I've ever seen, wish I had gotten to meet him
Just how I felt too x
イアンミッチェル大好きだった。今映像で観ることができるなんて...あの頃はレコードでこの歌を何回も聞きそして音楽雑誌みるしかできなかった。今もこの曲聞くとドキドキする。
Rest in peace, Ian. It was nice meeting you and hanging out.
Another year without Ian, 64 today. Many beautiful memories of this man who broke a lot of hearts. Rip, 22nd August ♥️♥️♥️

Ian is so cute. When I was a teenager, I saw him in his concerts. (rosetta stone,Ian Mitchell Band.) Of course, BCR too. I still wear tartan clothes sometimes.
I've been on Ian's website. What a nice guy he seems!
I still love His music even after all these years. The fact that he's a great person makes it even better. How many other musicians are still with their "lass" after 20 years?
I just cannot stop watching this video! Ian was so cute. Wonder how he is doing now?
BCR forever!

Ian's version is much better love hearing him sing it.
I can see why.
Les is the lead singer. This was a huge "gimme" to Ian and shows how much he wanted Ian to fit in and feel comfortable. Rock on!
@PaOsfan I agree with you. I liked the BCR before Ian joined the band, but after Ian became a part of the band, I followed them passionately. It thrilled me to see Ian come back later with Rosetta Stone and then with other bands. He's still a favorite to this day.
Rip Ian and Les
As a teen I was truly in love with Ian.

Are you serious? OMG you are the envy of my life!!!!!!!!! I love Ian (still since the 70's)

As long as Derek was there, I was happy. He sparked a lifelong love of drummers in me!

I loved this song...but Eric was my favorite. I just loved him! I was 16 and he was awesome!
My sentiment s exactly 💯
my 1st concert was 1977 Iowa State Fair ... THE BAY CITY ROLLERS ... my room was covered in THE BAY CITY ROLLERS :)
Honestly, I don't remember! Glad you're digging it, though! Love you!
Ian Mitchell goes to my wife's church in Aliso Viejo. Small world :-)
so what-you were a very smart 6 year old-be proud of that!! and les and ian are still great-looking!!
great filming the tv. these were the good times!!!!
My sister thinks I joined a Pipe Band just to wear the tartan! Ha. Thanks for posting this and bringing back some sweet memories!!
omg Ian and Pat were the two sexiest guys alive in the 70s i was in love with both of them i was 13 when this song came out
i have been there!:-D lots of great stuff...CD's and Photo's lots of goodies!
Oh Ian!
Great song. The start of the rock ballad. I didn't know Ian Mitchell sang this song. I thought it was Les.
he's very cute! Ian! ;-)
I'm in Aus too, and I've found it under amazon in the UK, I couldn't seem to find it on Ebay... I might have to try again! Good luck :-))
My first favorite song
thank you God, that I was a teenager in the 70ths
