Shout out to the whole crew - great editing, lighting, camera work, everything works really well together and you guys should be proud of yourselves. Y'all really do deserve Lego sets for the holidays this year!
You’re only saying this bc they’re in the intro. You have no original thoughts
@@okay3364 who hurt you
@@okay3364 i think u need a hug...
@@okay3364 agreed this is cringe.
After blending the chilies, the (meatless) broth freezes very well. I portion it into mason jars and freeze until needed. Makes it very easy to assemble this soup during the week with leftover rotisserie chicken (or any protein).
I love the fact that you put effort into every ads you make, makes them always super enjoyable to watch unlike copy paste ads that just ruin the mood
I second this! I actually listen to your sponsored content instead of hitting fast forward.
@PJB i keep forgetting that you work for free and also assume you always forego your annual bonus- oh, you are not? Well shut the f up and sit down smartass
Reminds me of Internet Historian's sponsor segments.
not to mention they're hilarious while also a bit weird😂
@PJB Vicram please stop using a burner to tell us why you really hate Joshua...use your big boy voice and tell him to stop slapping your ass
I'm Mexican and I approve of this recipe. We don't add corn hadn't seen that before but that's okay and preferably use Oaxaca cheese on top as well
Im Mexican too, i agree with everything you said
I am Mexican too and i agree with both of you. And I'd add some lettuce, but that's just a personal taste, I like most of soups with lettuce, onion and some slices of tomato.
Ughhh I love Oaxaca
Y el chicharrón 😋
Corn is a common Tex-Mex thing. Especially in central Texas. We also add some whole Cumin sometimes too.
Tortilla soup is the perfect winter food! Gotta have the lime and avocado - I also love a dollop of sour cream (cuz I'm a wuss when it comes to spicy). You really sold the home-fried tortilla chips.
finding avocado in winter is very hard in europe sadly
I love balancing super spicy with sour cream. The flavor is bussin.
As Mexican I would recommend you chileatole.
@@Alvinobeat27 I had to Google what that was - it looks delicious! I saved a couple recipes. ♥
@@Analogist912 Boo! That would make me sad. I know they sell frozen here by the frozen fruit. No idea what they are like, especially texture, but maybe you can make a guac kind of thing with them???
Just saying AGAIN the cookbook is so worth it. Takes your cooking and baking up a notch and it’s homemade. It’s my go to cookbook right now. I love that the ingredients are in order of use on the list and the directions are easy and funny at times 😆
Also love that each ingredient is by weight. Makes the recipes fool proof.
Somehow you convince me to buy it before his fire ads even did! Excited to get it!
its a great book, simple and easy to use-- great way to learn a lot of foundations that you'll use everywhere. i worked in kitchens for a decade and this book is still relevant to me.
i guess i’ll get it some day but i hate that the shipping is at least $25 since i live in asia
The crunchy sound of the tortilla is unbelievably tempting💕
Well it’s midnight in 🇯🇵, gotta manage myself to sleep thinking “I’m craving for tortilla so badly..!”😂💓
2am in Australia, thinking the same thing c: 🤣
how fast did you watch the video
@@maximkrieger8096 I watched about half and was reading comments too c:
You should
Hey I live in Japan too as a gaijin I really like it here tho everyone is pretty friendly even one night after to much karaoke in Shibuya
The way you cook mexican dishes is amaaaaazing tbh, love it!!! (I'm mexican btw) let me give you sir the mexican nationality, from now on You are Josué Guaisman
Made this tonight, took just about 1 hour 40min total and was incredible. This recipe knocks it way way out of the park dude. Served 5 with leftovers and people went back for seconds. Really excellent!
I hope this is the start of a "but fancy" series. Turning regular meals into fine dining.
Love seeing well timed glimpses of the crew, too! Such a fun episode!
Love it! if you wanted to make it Authentic Mexico City Style tortilla soup, use crumbled queso fresco or Cotija on top as a topping as opposed to the bottom, and add a dollop of Crema and some Crumbled Chicharrones.
Could you try doing empanadas? there are many types, ways and varieties; some are cheesy, fishy or meaty, can have seafood, vegetables, fried or baked, etc. should be good content.
It's a great weeknight soup too. Using some leftover chicken (I'll do a few rotisserie chickens early in the week) and some black beans as well. Also I'll make a batch of Chile paste and keep that in the fridge for a few weeks to use for enchiladas, chili, tortilla soup, etc. Still you NEED those fresh Chile flavors.
I've also added some masa if I want it thicker as well.
More ridiculous, fine-dining versions of foods alongside the originals, please.
I get a tremendous kick out of that stuff.
Most of his recipes are already over the top, but I'm here for him being extra
@@cuteandsingle I don't know if you saw it, but there's a video he did last year or the year before with another chef on UA-cam where he made a ridiculously complicated and expensive, Michelin-star sort of burger. That's the sort of thing I'm all for.
As a born and raised Mexican myself, I approve this recipe 👏🏻
Made this tonight.. followed recipe exactly... OMG...it was awesome!! Perfect winter food. We even made homemade corn tortillas then fried them..great recipe! Thanks!!
I’ve been making this once or twice a week since you posted it. It’s an incredible recipe.
You recipes and demos are so fun, tasty and RESPECTFUL of your guests and the food ingredients. These are for your best friends and family. Thanks for these. Merry Christmas and happy new year. And many more.
Thank you for putting this out dude you always make cooking look fun and recipes taste amazing 😃
Ok so thank you so much Josh I know it’s sounds like a bunch of bs but you and the crew help me out so much through cooking and my sadness after my grandmother passed away so THANK YOU!!!
I just made chicken tortilla soup last night! One of my favorites. 🤤
Love soup in the cold season. Would love to see more soup recipes!
All the crew are really cute in their PJs! I love them!
Imagine the fancy version as a Chip and Dip!! I think It'd be a sick snack
Not sure if you do homemade tamales but that would be great for a Christmas video too ❤️ this looked delicious
He made a tamale video already! It’s pretty informative too.
Try making them with nutella and raspberry jam. Or spicy bbq pork. Its really easy and tasty.
@@shanleysullivan265 thanks 😊 I’m not sure why it didn’t come up the first time I searched it.
This has been my go-to for this recipe. I absolutely love it. Thank you!
I so enjoy your videos, and the fine dining versions are great. Thank you!
Cheese, I love it! My Achilles heel, but I don’t care, especially in this type of dish. This is right up my street, thanks for sharing 😀🙋🏻♂️
Yes!!! This is one of my favorite foods! I made this a couple weeks ago and this week I made a pozole verde. It's soup season, nerds!
Try chileatole de camarones.
Amazing video, yet again. Definitely making this this winter. Love your videos! Plan on getting your cook book as soon as I can. Keep up the awesome food and awesome work. You truly helped me find my second passion with cooking. All the best wishes for you this Christmas!
Just made this recipe for dinner- it was amazing! Thank you so much for sharing 🤍
I was literally about to make this soup for dinner but now I have to use this recipe 😆
dude same
The editing in this video is an early Christmas gift in itself.
Keep the skits comin'!!! So funny! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Your videos just keep getting better. Love this. Chicken tortilla soup is one of the best cold weather comfort foods. Thanks!
One of my all-time favorite dishes to make, I’m gonna try the corn cob technique next time! Thanks papa 😘
We need a But Better vs a japanese steakhouse / hibachi restaurant like Miyabi's. Should be a much better challenge than a fast food chain and I doubt you can get the "shrimp" / "yum-yum" / "white" sauce right. Upvote if you agree and want to see Josh really get put to the test!
omg yes. I cannot make scallops like they do at hibachi lol
You're obviously not familiar with Josh's impeccable palate, Davis.
That looks absolutely splendid
I absolutely adore this VS Fancy format!
In my family we also add frijoles refritos at the bottom, adds a whole TON of flavor~
This is one of my favorite videos from Josh lately. I already have a chicken tortilla soup recipie that I like, but I'll probably give this one a try too just because it isn't too hard and it looks really good.
Thank you thank you thank you for using Serrano and not Jalapeno peppers. Jalapenos are so waxy and have this overwhelming flavor. Serranos are almost the same heat level but the flavor is much more my style.
One thing tho- no beans? I don't even like beans but Imo a tortilla soup really needs black beans.
Followed the recipe and it was perfect. Great soup for a chilly and rainy day. 👍
Just wanted to tell you your videos have inspired me to start cooking and that’s gonna help multiple things in my life so thank you 🙏
dude! this all looks great but i NEED to know if anyone, EVER, makes that tostada soup thing lol :)
I'm pretty sure you could base an entire life philosophy system off your cooking Josh. Every dish I've made from you has improved the quality of my life and improved my mental health.
I asked for your cookbook for Christmas!! Can't wait to get it!! 😍😍
Such a fun video and it looks delicious. I can't wait to try it!
I just can't resist my self imagine this with a bowl of rice instead of tortillas chips
congrats on 5.45 josh!
keep cooking your way to ten million
OK I'M SO SORRY THAT WAS BAD🤠
i love your videos!!
This was so worth the effort!! I just made it and it is SOOO GOOD!!
I've made this differently so many times and this looks amazing.
This was my favorite dish growing up in Mexico and can confirm it is prepared like that and you did it phenomenal ! Mom does it with tortillas chopped in long stripes , the broth and then fresh cheese and avocado on top ! You pretty much NAILED IT , that’s what I call TALENT.
I've been waiting on this one! Can't wait to try.
THIS LOOK SOOOOOO GOOOD OMG
Really like the ad Joshua and congrats on your new book!
Josh, if you don’t start making “but finer” where to turn common recipes into fine dining experiences, I will not return a kiss from papa
The real question is, how spicy is it? You should include a spice meter!
just bought your book as a holiday present for myself, hyped
Josh, I never leave comments for anything, mostly because i don't think anyone really gives a shit as to what i think about a video. I feel obligated to leave one here in hopes YOU would read it. This is one of the most delicious things I have ever made and I want to thank you. My son, who loves spicy food is floored.
"super dank" was his assessment. Thank you for doing what you do, your recipes bring so much joy to me and to everyone that eats my food ( made from YOUR recipes , presented in the best, funniest way possible). Much love to you, your crew and your loved ones. Thank you! happy holidays!!!
They call them "ears" of corn but I've never HEARD why...
So corny
Bro where’s the BEANS
Dude how have i not seen your videos until now. So glad you posted this recipe. Also I was thoroughly entertained. You made it seem easy and not intimidating at all. Hooray!!!
We just made this soup, it was delicious! Thanks for a great recipe !
I made this tonight and it was awesome. So many chicken tortilla soups are thin and accompany a meal. This IS the meal. I had really small Serranos so I used three. Perfect heat level. I will be making this regularly. Thanks Josh.
Awesome bro! Just awesome all around! Great to watch you grow
These videos put me at peace thank you josh
Fond is so overlooked!! 😻😻
Looks good... THANKS
I just made this!!! It is delicious!
Ordered my copy of your cookbook! Good stuff as always!
I made this soup today after watching this video because of course I started craving it lol. This recipe was fantastic! I did substitute the dried chiles for chile powder and chipotle chile powder and I had to use canned corn this time, but I want to try that method next time! My family is in a quarantine at the moment because grandpa tested positive for covid. They loved the soup, I had fun making it for them, and it made grandpa feel a bit better, so thank you 🙏🏻❤️
You guys are awesome!
He made it the right the way. Using the correct chiles and cheese! Bravo Josh. Thank you!!! 😊
My son and I watch your show together. He wants to go to culinary school. We really enjoy watching you and doing your recipes. Thank you 🙏🏻
I’m not Mexican but my husband is and we both LOVE this dish. Our son has made it for us several times. The flavor is amazing and full. I don’t eat it with the corn but my husband does. This recipe is a keeper.
Ohhh, I'm making this one soon!
LOVE this video 😍
Damn, much love to the crew. You guys are awesome!
I really enjoy watching your artwork during water fasting, makes the struggle way easier!
Just made this tonight. A superb soup. Top notch, Papa!
This is th first time Ive wanted to make this. Another hit.
Already made this last night 🙏 soooo delicious, I might even add more spice next time!
I love the book promo you guys are creative
I love the ingredients. That is so great and easily available❤❤Wonderful days to you and Stay connected❤❤
I love that you did a fine dining version of this!
Se ve super buena!! surely tastes reeeal good!!
i love the fancy solution!
maybe you could do this more often
Looks delicious and tempting 😋 Greetings from Scotland 😊 Have a wonderful day 🌻
This right here will be my next project now in Christmas 🤞🏽
I love your personality
never change
Hey Josh, this looks great! It's awesome to see an easier recipe, too. This looks a lot like Sopa Azteca here in Mexico! Such a delicious dish!
i love your crew so much lol they're such good sports
I first had tortilla soup at a restaurant in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. It was so good I ordered it almost everyday I was there. Great video.
Love it 😌
duuuuuuuude I was waiting for this!!!!
LOVING the recent fancy plates. Really enjoy that I can watch a recipe and with relatively few tweaks impress everybody with them. Kind of makes it more accessible
I laughed so hard because I got the cookbook for Christmas!! Can’t wait to make all of these recipes 🙏
I love this man
I made this for dinner tonight and it was a hit. They want me to make it for Christmas 🎄
