Thank you for teaching and sharing. When you connect your ground wires I find it best to use a green wire nut which has a hole in the top that way you don't have to add a pigtail because your long wire simply sticks out saving saving a minute or two :-)

For someone doing this on their own not working for a company or meeting a code do you think it would be ok to cut the ground wires down to the end of the splice to have more room/ less excess

Would be fine yes. But u don’t wanna cut to short…. What if switch goes bad and or you replace it and need more wire?…. Always do a “service loop” for you or the next guy.

So to wire the light in the middle… do you take the black wire from that light, the black from the switch, and the black from the end light, and twist them together in a wire nut? So 3 wires in one nut? Same with neutral?

I was just trying to install 2 new vanity lamps in my bathroom in the existing electrical connections, one box have 4 wires and the other just 2 and only one switch, I attach together both black wires and I have 120 v in the second box, however when I attached together the 2 white wires my breaker jumped, for some reason in the second box the white wire is always grounded, I always have continuity between my ground and neutral cables…

So if you want to add a third or fourth light, you would just pigtail the second light to the third and from the third to the fourth light, and so on if you want more than 4 lights?

Can I do this with ten lights wired in series like this operated by a sliding dimmer switch? I want to add nine LED cans to my garage. My plan is to simply daisy chain off the existing single light and add the dimmer-slider. Yes I want them all in same switch/leg.

For those whom are not electricians nor handy (I am both), you less than half way explained what you were doing and why. You did not explain why they're tied together and most importantly never showed why actually powers the multiple lights. In this case it was supposed to be a light switch that already is a power source and how you tied it into that. Where is the light receptacle? Where is the toggle switch?? You have to complete the process, bro.

I'm stealing power from a receptacle to feed 2 LED lights... I went from the receptacle up to the first light, then to the 2nd light, then to the switch...
I think I figured it out... Can anyone confirm? Thanks
POWER from receptacle to LIGHT, then to the SWITCH
    STEP 1
White wire from power to the white wire to the light...
    STEP 2
Black wire from switch to black wire to the light
    STEP 3
White wire from switch to black wire to receptacle power
*** Tape white wire with black tape to indicate it's now a hot wire
POWER from receptacle to LIGHT, to LIGHT, then to the SWITCH
*** How do I add a second light next to the 1st light?
