Honda Zoomer: Kitaco iMap RPM Testing

  • More testing of the new Kitaco iMap following yesterdays inconclusive ride.
Put the lightest sliders I have into the variator and revved the engine up to peak for an accurate RPM reading. Did this for all 3 custom dip switch settings on the iMap.
Dip 1 is for a stock bike but actually seems to give the best results
Dips 2 & 3 seem to be for Kitaco branded exhausts, or possible racing exhausts. Unfortunately the instructions are all in Japanese so a certain amount of deductive guesswork is required.
    Some interesting results...

Something I noticed about this video. When you checked the setting on dip switch 1, the tachometer displayed an indicated 2300-2400 RPM. That didn’t sound like 2400 rpm to me in fact it didn’t even sound like a fast idle. I also noticed it looked slow to respond the engine speed change. Are you sure that’s working correctly?
It also displayed a different engine speed on dip switch 3 test.

Something else I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t rev up very clean at all. Remember that you are revving that with no load on the engine at all and it should get up to high RPM quite quickly. Have you changed any of the fuel settings or played with the air filter? Is the air filter standard? Does it have a standard exhaust fitted?
What’s it like when it starts? Does it start on the button or do you have to crank it a bit to get it going? ( I’m thinking about when the valve clearances were last checked and how many miles it has done as tight valves wouldn’t help).
As a side note, I found an online manual for this bike today. Have you reset the throttle position sensor and completed an ecu reset when you fitted the imap?
That might put the bike into learn mode again and it might make a difference as if that imap is chucking more fuel in with the other settings and your bike is stock, you will have problems getting the engine to run well at higher rpm if there’s too much fuel going in.
Just some things to think about
    Best regards

Scooty Man thanks for all the points, interesting stuff:
Haven’t changed any fuel settings (wouldn’t know how). The airbox is stock, the filter is clean and the connecting pipe seems fine (checked that the other day). The bike has a Leo Vice exhaust fitted (came to me like that). No problems with starting works on the button. I haven’t re-set the throttle sensor or completed an ECU reset. Can I do this with the iMap attached (don’t want to blow anything). All ideas very welcome 👍👍 thanks again

Scottish Zoomer I sent you a message to your email. There’s a wealth of experience on the C90 forum too. They love the MSX and the monkey bikes and this scoot falls in that category also.
      Best regards

Hey guys, I could use a little help. It there any way to get in touch with you guys? I took my Zoomer appart and got it back together, and the thing wont rev past 4000rpms, I'm thinking I need to reset the ECU and Throttle body sensor as well, but haven't found a clear way to do this... for the Zoomer at least. Also, I replaced the Polini for the I-Map (used your wiring diagram, was really helpful, thanks a bunch), I also have the cable to upload the custom maps, so I was wondering if you guys would mind sending me the map you put together, so I could give it a go, would really appreciate it.
