Comparing yourself to others will often lead to disappointment, instead just be open to learning and remember to pat yourself on the back any time you're able to make something :) all it takes is persistence and patience.
Haha... I'm over here just making my first game... a "Maze" game that is pretty dumb, but trying to learn... I've been watching too many videos and not actually doing anything...so one step at a time, even though this game I'm creating is "dumb"
Hate to say it, but the fact that every game was a polished gem really made this video go from good to excellent. If there were 50 of these videos on this channel I would be settling in for an evening.
@@brandon0981you can polish anything to different levels. for the time constraints this is polished for the level it is. it doesn't have to be a masterpiece every time someone says "polish"
Other devs: OK I finished the gameplay with 6 hours to go, so now I'm going to implement a few decorative features I saw in other games. Me: OK it's been 6 months and I'm almost done making the title screen. I can't wait to start working on the game! (I can, and I don't wanna)
I've been avoiding it so badly that I added intro splash screens with the FBI "winners don't use drugs", and the EPA "Please recycle" like arcade machines used to have lol
Starting with the art and polishing it before even having a single gameplay element implemented is what most new game devs get bit by. I know how it is because I used to do the same. Though I quickly discovered I suck at art so started to focus on gameplay instead. Which was good because that also meant I started finishing games (albeit ugly-looking ones)
"I wanted to use the assets in an unexpected way, so immediately my mind went to 3D" - and then 3 out of 4 games are 3D haha. Such cool games! I didn't know about the on rail shooter genre, and those animations looked sooo smooth.
Indeed, it has that Papers please vibe too, if he ever made like a little background and story where there's special scenario like Papers please where you assasinate certain character That'd be a good selling point too
I just started learning Godot today for a project in uni, and watching this game jam made me feel super motivated. Mad respect to each creator, their skill is really impressive. Also I loved the "I promise I'm not a weeb, my wife is Japanese... And I'm a weeb"
What a great video! This was a joy to watch. I think the format is incredibly smart because it breaks up the video into multiple parts and each developer had a reasonable amount of time to make a semi polished experience. This is partly thanks to the provided art assets, sounds, and music. The death animations and sound effects on the third game will cracking me up!
Wow, all four of these are absolutely amazing! Fantastic work by every dev. One polished gem from a jam is rare enough, but for every game in an art kit jam to be a polished gem? Wow! Props to all of the devs for their skills and experience
This is the soul food I need. Been depressed for quite some time, and thus unproductive. Stuff like this makes me want to fire up Godot and give it a real try.
Superb from all 4 devs! I used to be someone who dreaded watching videos like this because it made me jealous and feel like I'll never reach that level but I am trying to improve that, give myself a pat on the back to help myself, more like this please!
Damn, all the games are so cool. Tanuki temple seems like a fun, brain-off, reaction-based game. The concept of Sushi Ninja is so simple, yet so cool. Would love to see it fleshed out more.
This was a great video! The games were all creative and polished, every developer explained their process well, and watching each playthrough was a lot of fun. I hope you do more of these, at least until you've made 4!
the conveyer belt sushi one has such good potential. the chaos of games like the iconic 'papa's pizzeria'. also kind of reminds me of 'papers please' in a way
Super impressive results! The level of polish is so high for a jam, I could see any of these games going the distance with some more time and effort if people wanted to. I also really appreciate the way people explained the tools they were using, as someone who's still pretty fresh to Godot it was super helpful for learning. On that note, are any of these projects available to peek inside? I'd love to see the full implementations of things like the state machine (rip interfaces) and on-rails animations.
this is genuinely amazing, every game was super polished and cute i love this so much!! ive watched Miziziziz videos too in the past and i love seeing how every game dev thinks of unique ideas and approaches
these using the same asset pack videos are my favourite thing to watch on youtube BY FAR. its so interesting, so much creativity, i feel like i learn something and ITS NEVER toxic, it never makes me be in a bad mood or hate the world..
Nice video. Subbed. Thought it was a Brackeys video at first because they run a similar format but I really enjoyed the time given to each developer and the editing pace. Felt much better and not so quick cut and we had more time to spend wit each game.
Cool games, loved the rail shooter, it was very clever. Would be fun if you guys could score each other's work or have a jury who do the scoring at the end if you guys plan to make similar videos in the future.
Definitely great content to watch! Please do More of these! Its great to hear the thought processes and then the ideas come to life. Very Cool to Watch!
Man this was amazing to watch, it's so insane to see all the different angles you can take a single sprite sheet. I especially think the Hitman game has so much potential with adding more and more levels and features! Also seeing the FPS game reminded me of my first game jam where I made a 3d pixelated horror story game with gamemaker. To see all this potential with godot is truly amazing! I want to see more of these!
As someone that only gets to play around with gamedev in my spare time I am insanely impressed with what you guys managed to put togethr in such a short space of time. Really imaginative takes on the brief. These are incredible, well done everyone.
It is always super incredible to see how different ppl can use the same exact assets, but create totally different games. Great job on all of them, they were all great!
All 2.5D games, amazing! This was so much fun to watch, y'all got me thinking of porting an early-stage Godot 4 project from 2D to 2.5 😂 Really great stuff!
What a great game jam, the fact that these all looked like genuinely fun, polished games makes me want to learn Godot. If they can do this is 44 hours, I can't imagine what could be done in more time
I really enjoyed this video, excellent games created by some great developers. Great motivation for myself to continue this game dev journey. Thanks and I would love to see more in the future
I really enjoyed it! It's rare to see games like these in Godot... and they took only 44h. The difference is pretty visible when you have ppl who have experience with gamedev using Godot vs hobbyists... nothing against the hobbyists, but it's great to see what Godot is capable of.
Saying "One more time" 10 times in a row has to be the biggest compliment to a game dev.
The first game alone is better than anything I even managed to create. I don't know how to feel about this 😅
same here lol
Bramwell is a certified Godot 4 3D guru 🙇♂

polished gems? jeez the bar has bee lowered. The devs literally said they didn't have time to polish the games.
@@brandon0981he is just exagerating, i think that whay he means is that the games were great for the time they had
@@brandon0981you can polish anything to different levels. for the time constraints this is polished for the level it is. it doesn't have to be a masterpiece every time someone says "polish"
gives me hope with the new godot
That being said, I think it could be funny if all the games were a chaoitc buggy mess
"I promise I'm not a weeb, my wife is japanese... and I'm a weeb." - This belongs on a shirt
hopefully a real person makes it
you know when someone married a japanese is technically a weeb.
That last game got so intense at the end, with Bram and Crigz with one heart trying to beat the bosses. I couldn't help but cheer out loud😂
LUCY
Did you notice that Crigz full healthed the game too?
@@Hector-bj3ls Just needed that one more try 💪

The on rails shoother is perfect for arcades where you get to hold a gun-like aiming device.
On rail shooters are a popular choice for arcade machines.
@@faisfaizal5194 probably would make a decent VR experience as well.
All four of these games look amazing! Great work to all devs.
i think that sushi assassin game is phenomenal, i can see that being a commercial selling game.
Look up Dave the Diver for all your sushi assassin needs
Indeed, it has that Papers please vibe too, if he ever made like a little background and story where there's special scenario like Papers please where you assasinate certain character

yeah it's like Ore no Ryomi meets Papers Please lol, really fun idea that can be expanded upon into a full commercial game!
These types of videos are never dull. All devs did incredible and all the games looked fun!
All of them looked so good. Each dev chose such a different and unique path. I absolutely loved it.

Brilliant, each game was such a fun and unique way to riff on the tileset. Personal favourite was the shooter, just bcus i prefer shooters to puzzles.

all of the games was really cool and fun to wach i cant choose a fav so thx for the content
