    I would love an updated version of this. Benji mentioned that just adds more ingredients or changed up a few. I wanna know !!!

    Hi Judy! I am Japanese so I made Japanese style curry for 100 times but decided to watch Benji's version just to see if it was any different. We sauté all the meat & veggies with butter or vegetable oil first, then add water, boil them & when all the veggies get cooked, we add the curry cubicle things while turning off the stove. We mix them well, then turn the heat again while stirring more & put the cover & simmer it. More cook, the better it taste. Mom cooked for 2 days & it tasted definitely better than the one cooked for only few hours. I LOVE Curry in any version of other counties!!!! Spicier the better for me! 🙆 So many ways to make curry, & I hope you experiment with many other Japanese curry block, like "torokeru" curry in extra spicy. curry can be eaten with Udon & any pasta. I am sure Benji is familiar with Curry Pan? I miss those in Japan....😋. I think you did very well your presentation! I know you are not as confident as your Beauty stuff but I really enjoy watching you! I also love all your girls. They are funny & adorable! You & Benji are doing great job raising them. Take care & be well!

      I'm not trying to be rude but when you were saying how Japanese people make curry, were you implying that that's how all Japan makes it? Benji is Japanese too I was a bit confused.

    • @saikotanaka6368
      @saikotanaka6368 8 років тому +3

      +Jessica25710 No, you are not being rude at all.^_^. Well, Benji's mom is Japanese, so he is half Japanese. He was born & grew up in America & his wife Judy who is not Japanese was making a curry. It's nothing wrong with her curry as there are many different version but I was born & grew up in Japan & that's how we learned in the cooking class in our school. I am pretty sure majority of Japanese people make it that way. In my home, mom also made different types of curry, topped with some crispy fried shrimps, or using ground beef/pork with just minced onion & garlic with curry sauce, etc. You should experiment & see what you like!(^^). I do like curry from Thai & India as well. You can make your curry mild or spicy. I personally love EXTRA spicy!!

      I do the same like Judy and Benji. I dont want my potatoes and carrots mushy. But when Im cooking for the kids, they want the potatoes soft,that’s when I cook the veggies longer.

    Mmmmm I'm eating it right now! I added minced garlic, about a teaspoon, paprika and hot sauce as a substitute for red chili flakes and green bell peppers and the meats frozen so its all veggies and allll delicious! Yummm! Thanks Judy!

    To everyone worried about heat: Vermont Curry and Golden Curry both have block packages in mild, medium, and hot; Golden Curry also has an extra hot. They also have boil-in-the-bag versions, where you just have to cook your meat and extra vegetables (usually comes with potatoes and carrots) separately, then boil the package for ~10 min.
    As for where to get it: I've only ever seen mild in our local grocery stores and Walmart (near soy sauce). I found up to medium at Wegmans (Japanese section).

  • @89eewa
    @89eewa 12 років тому

    omg it can be so many different things. I think the main thing is that it is a bit spicy and has kurkuma in it (I don't know if that is how you say it in english), but you can add whatever you like so that it makes the taste that you like. I make it with apples, wine and sweet cream, so that it is kind of sweet and sour (the apples and the onion thicken up the souce, so that you don't need those artificial sticks that Judy is using). That's the beauty of it, you can make it to suit your taste.
