The first time I ever cooked japanese curry I was watching your video over and over to make sure I got it correctly. My family didn’t want to try it since they thought it was part of my meal prep and because they were scared to try it. Now my dad eats 3 bowls a day whenever I make it because he loves it and it’s soft for him to eat since he has no teeth. Thank you for this video. I come back to it every now and then to make sure to follow your recipe. I also add a bit of chopped garlic and sesame oil for extra flavor sometimes Korean chili flake.
Hi there! I just made this recipe for my family tonight and everyone loved it! Thank you so much for the visual step by step process, it was so helpful to be able to follow along to. Perfect for a rainy night. 💖 I hope you are well, and thank you again! 🙏
I've attempted to make Japanese curry a bunch of times because I love eating it only for it to come out super watery. Your video showed me that more than 1 block of the curry mix is supposed to be used so thank you so much, I'm going to try making it again! ☝🏽🧡
Gotta cook this for dinner tonight and I was legit scared to get a watery curry. Some recipes I saw said to use only half of the blocks but I’ll put all the curry I have. Thanks!
Make this al the time in nz. My whole family loves it. Including friends at work although I never tell them what curry it is cause that’s my little secret lol. Love eating this on a cold winters day.

Im a garlic lover and I cant stand not having garlic in my dishes, so I always add a whole grinded garlic whenever I make this and made it 100x better.
The first time I made this I bought a stew beef which I didn't realize you need to simmer for like an hour and it turned out terrible. But once I got that figured out it tastes great! For the curry mix my box is apparently half the size of yours so I use the full box (same amount of grams). Thank you for posting this.

One huge tip, use an instant pot and cook some lamb shanks in beef broth. You want the lamb shank or butterflied leg roast to be at the consistency of pulled pork with some chunks. Lamb takes this dish to a new level, be sure to substitute the lamb broth for the water. There is no comparison vs beef as the lamb just works.
Wait, japanese curry is similar to brazilian strogonoff! But we don't put carrots or potatoes, just chicken or meat in small pieces and our sauce is made with sour cream and tomato sauce. Some people add mushrooms as well. And we eat it with rice too! And shoestring potatoes 😋
Your video just popped up in my feed. I did a video making S&B GOLDEN CURRY JAPANESE CURRY on my channel as well, except I used chicken. Yours looks great. Good job!

This is a fun dish. I used to eat it a lot when younger. But we fell away from it when we moved. I do remember we used to reduce the curry blocks before putting them in, so that we could save some and use it later in the week to save money. Do others do this also? And I can't remember how much you cun reduce the curry block on how much going in? What's the most you can partition it without reducing it too much? Does someone have a reccomendation on this? Thank you.
We always pre-fry meat, or use leftovers, take it out, then add to vegetables. The vegetables + meat cooking gives time to the rice cooker to "rest" after ringing done sound.
