Adar is my favorite character on this series. He seems like a tortured soul who has accepted his faith, yet there is some goodness in him too that few can see.
Adar is the most enigmatic character in this otherwise -botched series. The Tolkien world rests on a divine tune once sung by the ainur in the Timeless Halls. Morgoth was among them, singing and weaving into their collective melody his own selfish designs. Beautiful as it is, our world is also tainted due to the mysterious event called the fall of man and needs recreation. This is what is promised by the book of Revelation and this is on what our Christian hope rests.
There was a change because the original actor couldn't commit to filming the second season due to scheduling: things like this are big time commitment and sometimes actors aren't able to commit. The original actor of Adar was also in Game of Thrones where the original actor of the Mountain changed (fittingly) because he was cast in The Hobbit movies playing the big orc.
@NikoChristianWallenberg Thank you for explaining that. I'm not super obsessed with this show yet but was confused why he looked different in the second season. I actually think the 2nd actor was better honestly
1. Adar and Sauron/Halbrand 2. Adar and his children and their new home of the southlands/Mordor (for a Home of the Moriondor it seems a fitting name) 3. Isildor, even though a total fuck up in season one he will definitely be impactful later. Durin was well played, so was Elrond, and the Harfoots are incredibly well-cast with a huge shoutout to the friend that sings the song. I liked the Black elf soldier a lot, but the only scenes that gave me goosebumps were the Adar scenes. I Think Galadriel was a 5/10 character in both writing and performance. Gandalf was cool, but only cus he’s gandalf. Drop that character into the same exact storyline in a different universe where he gets to be Gandalf at the end and he’s an afterthought. I don’t care about the kid and the mom who likes the elf soldier. I don’t care about the other Elves. I find the dwarves interesting but am more looking forward to the Balrog than anything they bring to the season 2 table. 99% of me Thinks the tables will turn and House of the Dragon (HotD) season 2 will outshine RoP season 2 by a landslide in direct contrast to season 1… No more Joseph Mawle is a MASSIVE kick in the teeth! And no Lee Pace to save this film like the did the Hobbit Films!
Best character and story line in a rather disappointing season one. True standout, I'll probably leave with Mawle - I know that they recast his character but it won't be the same. Bye Rings of Power , perhaps you should have respected his talent more...
I think that's why Aarondir has more time for humans. He knows the bad these "magical creatures" & 'gods' are capable of & sees compassion & humility in humans (apparently hobbits are a species of human, which I didn't know)
I hope Arondir will be given a mortal soul for his bravery, one day. Mortal's were given immortal (Huan). He could see his beloved Bronwyn again, with Erû. As it stands, they are parted for eternity.
He's too old. Morgoth took him before he created Orks. He used the 13 to create the first orks. When Eöl lived there were elves already because Meaglin betrayed the city when he was captured by them.
As much I think the actor for Adar in Season 2 did a good job, the actor from Season 1 stole the show. I think Adar from Season 1 you could empathize with, Adar from Season 2 was mostly just evil at least to me.
Adar such a intriguing caracter yet it is so stupid that he killed sauron which is not possible. ROP in a nutshell so much great ideas but also some really stupid ones i still enjoyed the show.
@@darthbradmedia8929 So if he didn't killed him why wasn't Sauron in Charge of the orcs. To be fair, the Sauron reveal was the Single most bad decision of the Show.
I think the explanation from Sauron about why he was doing what he was doing, “having a great weight lifted after Morgoth’s banishment, wanting to change and be free of his darkness”, makes perfect sense. But it’s certainly not what people were expecting!
Marion (Sauron) was inslaved by Morgoth’s dark influence after all but of course power corrupts and once you have a taste it’s extremely hard to let go.

Adar and the actor who plays him kept me from tuning out of this show. So ofc they recast the role for season 2.

Joseph Mawle did a fukng amazing job
Adar is what is carrying this series
Damn, they've changed the actor of Adar and I realized it now
It still bothers me, the actor from Season 1 was far superior to the one in Season 2.
three of my favorite storylines:
1. adar and the orcs
2. elrond and durin
3. harfoots and the stranger
Same here
1. Adar and Sauron/Halbrand

"Nano pa isil?"
One of the best villain openings ever.
This scene was powerful. Actors did a great job.
I don't know why but I kinda get some Thanos vibes from Adar. And he's really quite dangerous, the guy literally killed Sauron.
Adar comes across as this twisted caricature of the elves - and he absolutely is one.
A shame the actor got recast
@@darthbradmedia8929 ah he did? I wonder why, thought he was perfect
So did I :(
Joseph Mawle was amazing here
Felt like Mawle's could have been the saving grace of this show, but unfortunately hes gone, he really kinda looks like an evil king Thranduil
Uncle Benjen finally got screen time
His voice is so sexy 😢
Closest the series came to matching Tolkien
Jesus fuckin' Christ, just how shameless are those writers to let him pull a Colonel Kurtz?
What a great pick, legendary character legendary movie
