  • In the finale of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Ahdar faced betrayal from the Orc children he cared for when they chose to align themselves with Sauron. It was always evident that the Orcs of Mordor would ultimately side with the Dark Lord, as they serve as his main force in The Lord of the Rings. However, it remained uncertain how this shift would actually happen. Ahdar viewed the Orcs as his own kids, and he was intent on protecting them from falling under Sauron's control. Sadly, in the last episode of season 2 of Rings of Power, his efforts came to a tragic end.
The finale of season 2 of Rings of Power begins with Ahdar having taken Galadriel's Ring of Power, Nenya, from Elrond. He intended to wield this powerful weapon against Sauron and seize Eregiorn in the process. Ahdar believed that launching an attack on this city was crucial to ensure Sauron's defeat, convinced that his Orc children wouldn’t be safe until the Dark Lord was eliminated. However, just as Ahdar began to gain some insight while wearing Nenya, he faced betrayal and was killed by the very Orcs he had cared for. So, what exactly led to this shocking turn of events?
The Orcs' betrayal had been building throughout season 2 of Rings of Power. In the first season, Ahdar caused Mount Doom to erupt, creating a dark refuge in Mordor for the Orcs, who couldn’t endure direct sunlight. This area became their new home, and the Orcs were ready to thrive there. However, Ahdar had a nagging suspicion that Sauron-whom he and the Orcs had killed long ago-wasn’t truly gone for good. To address this, he formulated a plan to track down the Dark Lord. Even though Ahdar believed he was acting in the Orcs' best interests, they weren’t fully on board with his ambitious ideas.

Adar was beautifully depicted in the 'Rings of Power'. One feels a sense of empathy and sympathy with Adar striving to guide the Uruks or Orcs to safety and security and finally betrayed and killed by them.

Tolkien would have been pleased by this development; an Orc redeemed - mostly by his own devices but the elven ring finished the process (through too late.) He, however, likely did return to Valinar (the Halls of dead) since he had become a redeemed elf.

Sauron was killed because of Adar. Adar was killed because of Glûg. Sauron killed Glûg because he didn't want a new Adar in Glûg. It's very simple

❤Amazon Prime has redeemed themselves from the craziness of season one. It was overly ambitious with multiple directors and multiple filming's at the same time that resulted in difficult pacing between action sequences, dramatic scenes, bumpers, and still shots. Editing struggled to piece all the scenes into a coherent narrative that is inspired by canon. but not bound to it. Season two shows that Prime is listening, watching, learning and adapting from our feedback. There will always be haters and trolls. If the complainers hate the show so much, why are they watching. They want attention, so don't give it to them. Let it go, Let it go. Let it go! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I agree, but tbf the only reason “fans” are upset is because they are comparing it to the quality of the original film trilogy which we know was an All-timer. If you came into the rings of power with an open mind it’s not as bad people want to make it seem. Especially once you get ok with the fact Amazon put their on twist on it instead of sticking to Tolkiens Canon lore for time and pacing purposes. Only negative would be the “woke” scenes. Do I think orcs wanted peace, yes but as the dominant race in middle earth. Also in the readings orcs have a dog eat dog aura around them so the concept of them building and wanting to raise families is hard to believe, but I understand the idea of trying to humanize the orcs with Adar and then them eventually going back to their barbaric ways with Sauron who seems them only as tools

@mieldor76, honestly, not a a whole lot more. Some scale would be the cherry on top for me. The armies don't seem large enough. The siege of Eregion was a let down for me. If PJ in 2002 with cgi could give us 10,000 uruk-hai at Helms Deep then surely Amazon with tech 22 years superior and a bigger budget can put a few thousand orcs in the background to give me that scale. Otherwise I praise them for the use of mask and prosthetics like the original trilogy compared to all the cgi orcs in the hobbit films.

This is perhaps the most sensible single bit of the storyline . Adar was still not entirely corrupted. His motives FOR his “ children” seem to be out of at least semblance of love. The Uruks however, have been nearly fully corrupted, and can therefore be fully and completely fooled by and manipulated by Sauron.
Think about this . Are you, individually easily manipulated by being told that what you desire is the correct thing to do? Do you balk at doing the hard thing for genuine and lasting good ( not only for yourself but for others?) Is it possible that you are being manipulated to reject the difficult ultimately beneficial path in favor of a leader who promises immediate acceptance?

    • @Film_Paradise

Adar was so much different, he wasn't on a dark path as other corrupted followers of Morgoth. He was just seeking a home for his family.

Why? Because the writers needed them too.
Why did the Orc trebuchets defy physics and throw objects 10x farther then they ever could? Because the writers needed it to.
When the river improbably damned by aforementioned objects why didn’t the siege equipment and the orc get stuck in the mud of the drained river? Because the writers needed it to.
Where is Galadriel’s husband and children? They don’t exist anymore because the writers couldn’t have their woke woman warrior who can be more masculine than the males.
