@@RamseytheRam i finally got the maximus ramsey and been enjoying it for a week now. the combination or orange, spices, florals and the gulab beside the oud ( that is heavy) and musk/tonka base is divine, the oud is slightly darker than the oud monarch but its not animalic to my nose at all ( smells slightly fermented but not fecal , woody and sweet ), maybe its the new batch thing, idk. its so enjoyable that i purchased the 2024 new trio oud release sample pack and ill report here when i get them. btw i can't decide if i like the oud maximus or monach, both are wonderful tbh and without your informative videos i would have missed on such beauties in life so thank you🥰

I guess do Areej le dore family portrait? I don’t think you’ve done it. I’d also say try PDM Layton exclusif. I know you don’t like PDM but Layton exclusif smells way way better than Layton.
Only problem with an ALD family portrait is I dont have very many full bottles... lots of samples ... very few full bottles 😣

Maximus is the best all-around poopy oud .
I was wearing Monarch durring your review, and began to notice how good the florals are. I think it may be more of a masterpiece than Maximus, but not quite as enjoyable perhaps.
I'm waiting on my Musk Khabib sample, as many are hyping it as one of the best.
Amber Cologne is the best of the cologne ouds, of the few I tried.
I have a 9 ml of Triad. It is the best Rose Oud combo I ever tried. Not a favorite combo, but done so well here. The rose is photorealistic, as in natural, includes the greeness of a rose.
I am gedlive on fragrantuca.

Listening again to your Bortnikoff portrait. I like your top 3 alot. I have a full bottle of Monarch, and 9 ml of Maximus, Lao and Triad.
You were spot on with Lao being in between Monarch and Maximus. It being more oudy like Max and chocolate like Monarch.
I was blessed to score the vintage Mysterious Oud, with black label and the wooden cap. It is a darker juice, but also is more raw and intense. So I put it higher for me, maybe top 3.
Like Russian Adam's Siberian Musk is very raw and intense. I think he made Russian Musk 2, more refined, and mass appealing.
The same with Bortnikoff Mysterious Oud vintage, was more raw, 2nd form more refined.
The refined versions are great as well.
Mysterious Oud is likened to Jubilation XXV. Vintage.
I think it is a better niche version of J XXV vintage.
Musk Khabib is full bottle worthy for me, but since I have Suberian and Russian Musk, I'm good for musks.
Russian Adam used your reviews on his Areej site, nice. Glad you communicate with him. He is about to put out his classic line again, under different names perhaps?
Great reviews of Bortnikoff perfumes, love your channel! I picked up a bottle of Mysterious Oud so long ago, it was a 30ml square bottle (first formula), loved it so much I immediately attempted to order a 50ml and got a "sold out" message, when it was restocked it was the second formula, which was still great, but different the original. So far I've never met a Bortnikoff that I didn't like! I'm looking forward to trying his newer ones now. Cheers Ramsey!

I just recieved my tabac doré and lao oud bottles and i'm really impressed! Was not expecting this and it is my first encounter with such dosage of highly natural ingredients but i love it! Tabac doré is an interpretation of a wet tobacco leaf enveloped in honeyed sweetness and balsamic qualities and lao oud feels somewhat medicinal to me and reminds me abit of a fragrance called "purple hat" by fort and manle

Hi Ramsey, Bortnikoff's way of blending exotic flowers is the best.
First I have to say I'm not a fan of oud perfumes. I've tested all Bortnikoff's creations until 2021 and the way he uses those exotic flowers is impressive from my point of "nose".
I only have three full bottles of his perfumes, two are odes to exotic flowers (L'heure exquise and Vetiver nocturne) and the other one is Musk khabib which is a very good real deer musk perfume. If I compare this last one to Areej le doré's Russian musk II (that I own too) is not the winner as I prefer Adam's perfume but even Musk khabib is excellent being Russian musk II superb.
This last Friday evening I wore Vetiver nocturne and it's soooo addictive,. After a bit harsh and confusing first five minutes the perfume moves you into a wonderful world of very well blended exotic flowers which made me sniff all that evening my wrists again and again. I'm not into flowery perfumes but this is absolutely 100 % worthy.

How similar are Maximus and Triad? if i have Maximus, will it be redundent?
@@alonperlmuter5328 They're completely different in my opinion. Triad is a warm rose fragrance with a fuzzy animalic coziness. It's not overly animalic or anything. Oud Maximus seems like it has more of an oud smell with other florals and some light muskyness. I would definitely sample before buying a full bottle.

I own and love Bortnikoff and yeah I agree , I didn’t like any of his crappy new releases. I don’t like where he’s going with the new releases.

Does Nishane's Nefs have any comparable in the Bortnikoff line?
Not that i smelled... although I havent sniffed everything ... the style didnt feel the same to my nose... I would say nefs had more comparison to the spirit of dubai line 🤷♂️
Flattered an offhand remark of mine prompted a video, and a great one at that.
Have to revisit my sample of Lao Oud because I mistook the coffee for chocolate.
I can’t recall the last time a video gave me so many additions to my to-try list, namely Areej le Dore ones, as I’ve only tried Ottoman Empire.
Glad I found your channel. I dig your conversational tone and willingness to tackle hard-to-describe stuff like Bortnikoff. (Hard for me to describe, at least. They’re so *dense*.
I do many of my videos off the cuff and like the fact that I can just pivot and do one type of video one day and then pivot again and do another type another day... this video has been brooding for a while so thanks for giving me a push 😎
Hope you enjoy the new indie stuff you discover... AlD is sort of the mountain peak for perfume lovers... there really isnt amywhere else to go from there that is as good or as high quality or has that type of value for money 🤷♂️ 🍻

Yes! Finally the ranked Bortnikoff list! Just got my Oud Max bottle in last week and am very much enjoying it! My first FB from the house as I’ve been living off all the samples and decants for months now. All the ones you mentioned as FB worthy are the ones I’ve got on my wish list as well. Pretty cool! I feel validated. 😆 The others from the line I’m a little less excited about.

2 others I also love that are not on this list that I forgot about are Triad and L’Heure Exquise. Triad is an oud rose, heavy on the May Rose. LH starts cocoa and champaca forward in the first hour or two but I think this one really shines in the dry down when the clove, nagarmatha, and myrrh start taking center stage.
Would love to hear your thoughts on those two! 😊

Bortnikoff is just incredible. My top 5 are: Oud Loukoum, Oud Sinharaja, Coup de Foudre. Sans Fleur and Lao Oud.

Recently came across a Musk Khabib sample which somehow fell by the wayside... My oh my... ONto the shortlist. I already have/adore Amber Cologne and Oud Monarch, and after another priceless trove of information here from🐏I'm now squarely staring down a slippery slope with Areej le Dore - and the like - beckoning me at the bottom 😂

I just got Musk Khabib and some samples from luckyscent. I don't know if there is something wrong with this house now or what but nothing lasts more than 15 min and doesn't even project. To the point where if it is sprayed on my chest I can't smell it. They smell good for 15 min up close then just die off. Also the scent of Musk Khabib smelled very similar to the scent from the sample if Celeste Cologne I got. I seriously wonder if they messed something up over there and sent out a bunch of stuff that was incorrectly made because this is beyond a reformulation issue and it was purchased from a legitimate site. I would be very careful purchasing anything from them in the future. I'd love to smell the original version vs. whatever I got because this stuff is a total mess. I'm tempted to make a video about it myself.
So what I know about the situation Dimitry had some health issues and hopefully is making a full recovery but since he didnt do the Russian Adam approach and do Musk Khabib I or II or III etc... trying to keep everything the same with a large natural ingridient and him in the hospital was tough but I am crossing my fingers and hoping they return to their former glory soon...if they cant I will just cherish what I have from the good old days of Bortnikoff
Also wanted to say that if you can wear Lao Oud to work, you must work at a waste water treatment plant. Damn, bold move. I’d expect to be sent home if I showed up smelling like I needed a change of pants 😊
I actually work in a professional office envirnment... but many many prople are still working from home so its like a ghost town when I go in ... but if they dont like it ...welll.... 🖕😂😂😂

The new version of (musk khabib) with Roja like cap is much much lighter in color than the one in ur hand , longivuty and sillage suks
I have heard bad things about the reformulation....hopefully its just temporary & new ones get brought back to the original strength 🙏🙏🙏
Hi ramsey, absolutely love bortnikoff especially that musk khabib. Since mentioning Roja pdln no 1 which for me the best of the trio i realllly like it however i cant spend that much money on perfume. Lately i purchased TF tobacco oud and i was shocked how much they are alike . Do you find them similar ?

Top 12 Bortnikoff? My Christmas morning came early this year :D Although I could guess your top 4 without even watching the video. My top 1 is still oud monarch. It might be my top 1 out of all my collection. Competing with Andy Tauer au coeur du desert.
I LOVE Oud Monarch but there is something special about Russian Oud by AlD that takes the chocolate oud cake for me 🍫

It's pretty animalic if you are newer to oud... only moderately animalic if you have some experience with them

I didn’t like Lao Oud . Bortnikoff is either a hit or miss. I own quite a lot of Bortnikoff perfumes but I don’t like everything he’s released. Also the earliest releases are much better.
Yes I could see how his releases can divide people... but I love most of what I have smelled outside of those colognes he put out recently... they were bad
