Minute 15: jesus forgiving sins without being recounted or confessed = doctrine of baptismal regeneration even on newborns. James 5 is the base of doctrine of one of another sacrament the (anointing of the sick) which it’s been modified in the form but substantially keeps its biblical meaning such as the sacrament of confession as well.

Catholics are only required to confess Mortal Sins to a priest. However, Catholics are also encouraged to confess ALL sins in sacramental confession.

Thanks, Steve. But I think this comment raises other issues, without responding to the primary point of this video: Does God show us through His word that verbal statements ("confession") about mortal sins to a priest are necessary, or does God's word mean something entirely different by "Confession"? Also, if what you say is true, how can a Catholic know exactly what is a mortal sin (as opposed to only a venial sin)? My other videos on Mortal & Venial Sin address this question further.

@@trentdialogues7838 I believe that mortal sins are defined in Church doctrine. Murder, adultery, idolatry come to mind. St. John, in one of his epistles says "there is a sin that is death". St. James says, "Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed." When you have committed a serious (mortal?) sin it is good to come out and say it out loud. Rather than just telling it to someone who might not be trustworthy, a priest is bound by the seal of confession and has been given the authority by Jesus to forgive sins (or to NOT forgive them if the priest feels that the person is not really repentant).

Thanks @@stevedrake1861. I've already addressed the James 5 verse in the video at 9:48, showing it cannot possibly mean what the Catholic Church means by the term "Confession".
Also, where in Catholic doctrine are mortal sins clearly defined? I've addressed this further in the video "Mortal & Venial Sin - Questions for Catholics".
Regarding the passage in 1 John regarding sin leading to death, I address this in the video: "Are Mortal and Venial Sin in Scripture? 1 John 5".
Regarding your last assertion that Priests have the authority to forgive sins, this will be addressed directly in the Part 4 video regarding Absolution that I will make available in the coming days.

Sorry Sir, but you are mistaken about Catholic teaching on confession, “RECONCILIATION.”
Your statement about Catholics only required to confess mortal sins to a priest is incorrect.
Why don’t you educate yourself regarding the truth about the Catholic Church? There is a great book out and an easy read by Father Trigilio, PhD and Father Kenneth Brigenti, PhD.
      It’s absolutely $12.
Good luck with learning about the one true church that Jesus Christ established here on earth.✝️🕊🛐

Jesus Christ gave His ordained ministers the authority to forgive sins in His Name, ( John 20:23, James 5:14). We can go directly to God, and receive mercy through His ministers, just as we receive baptism into covenant from another! Peace always in Jesus Christ our Great and Kind God and Savior, He whose Flesh is True food and Blood True drink

I thought I would listen to this video to see where your thought process was leading to regarding confession to a priest.
Unfortunately I was disappointed. I thought you were educated on the facts of the Bible; and I am not referring to the KING JAMES VERSION.
I suggest you pray about the false teachings you are proclaiming to be fact.
2,000 years of truth from our Lord Jesus Christ is fact! The Catholic Church is the one true church that our Lord sent His only son here to establish.
You are being deceived by here say that is not what the Catholic Church considers valid.
What you have failed to do is trust in Jesus! He came down from Heaven to proclaim the good news. The ignorance and pride of people like, Martin Luther; who choose to rewrite the Bible and purposely leave out vital information that Jesus established here on earth, are and have been living a life of misrepresentation of everything Christ stood for.
I suggest you pray hard about your role as a child of God. You are very lost and confused.

You are confusing the teachings of the one true MARIAN church ( aka catholic) with what the bible and Jesus actually teach.
