      Hi Sadia...very thoughtful video indeed!
Life is never balanced actually... Isn't it? It lies in the beauty of 'trying' to fullfill it and that makes it look like a balanced one. Consuming, as you said, is predominant in most of the areas of life.... Wise consumption makes it healthier and content. I read a good book but don't always write a review physically.... I do think about it, though, even after I finish reading it and I find it perfectly OK and constructive... More over this wise consumption makes me Happy❤️

First, I’ve been really separating what is consuming from my everyday work as I work mostly online. It was already a good way to feel less guilty, since I cannot not be online or not answer customers’ questions, they are a part of my job and creativity. Second: I online watch things to have fun, like films or series, when I do a job which doesn’t require an intense focus, like for example, editing photos of objects to sell. I can do that and listen to a movie that I already know, in the same time. So, yes, I am consuming but creating in the same time. Or, I will do that by cleaning my home, or having my meal, or falling asleep in my bed, so I don’t feel guilty to loose my time. I definitely spend more time creating than consuming that way, because there are so many tasks which can’t be made with this fun background sound. When I need to focus, I just focus and appreciate the silence. Usually when I wander on Instagram for example, it’s because I’m about to post photos myself. Nothing is free with me... :-)

I love the quote. Nobel Prize winners are around 3 times more likely to have some sort of creative hobby than the average scientist. You might enjoy the book “the molecule of more”, it’s about Dopamine and it’s effects on everyday life, I’m enjoying it now.

EXACTLY what I needed to hear today. Thank you so much for this! I get stuck in the habit of consuming way more than I create often, and it is hard to pull myself out of. One thing that always sets the day up for success is morning meditation. If I meditate first thing in the morning for about 5-15 minutes, it allows me to approach the rest of the day in a better state of mind and less prone to distractions :)

I noticed if I consume too much for inspiration, my creativity becomes scattered, impulsive, way too emotional, even dramatic - opposite of the steady creative flow (which I’m aiming for).
I think with “inspirational consumption” a little goes a long way, and often just one right photo/idea/concept/quote is enough fuel for days :)

I definitely consume more than create. Last night I realized my husband and I were so deep into our phones watching separate shows that we were robbing each other of time spent doing something together. We put down our phones and enjoyed our evening together. Lesson learned is that taking too much in robs you of time spent with others. Love your videos Sadia!

    Hey Sadia. Great video.
But can I please request a video for you.
Sadia, it would be amazing if you could upload a video on food to be eaten by women during their period, to compensate for the weakness it brings along and also to help with the pain. I'm a person who has fairly regular menses, but HAS to miss college or work on the first day, as it becomes unbearable. Painkillers are bad we all know. Can you suggest some healthier, nourishing alternative, which could help me and several other women deal with this persistent problem.

One of my professors once said, "You are what you eat. And that's true of every kind of consumption." That was so inspiring to me, as a reminder that if I consume crap, I will feel like crap. This video reminded me that I need to give more time to questions than just getting the knowledge

Heard another great quote," How you spend your day is how you spend your life".

I've recently been extremely overwhelmed by social media... this has been the 4th time in 3 months that I have thought deeply about just uninstalling every social media app and anything that has been stressing me. I definitely consume more than I create. When I'm like this I just end up not being creative at all. I ruin my day completely. My chest is full of anxiety... today I made the choice to delete everything... at least for a few months. I want to feel the difference and if my phone is still worth it. I mean I still have UA-cam and Pinterest, but let me tell you what I did today:
I took a shower, painted my toes and nails, did my makeup, cleaned up, started dinner and am currently going to sit down and watch a movie with all my kids. I might not want to go back... best of love and faith to all of you creative beings, I pray you find peace and calmness in your journeys🌹 (your video is a sign of reassurance for me, thank you friend)

Hi Sadia, this is the first ever comment I have ever done on UA-cam, and I felt so compelled to answer for my own benefit; and I must tell you that I feel a great sense of release whilst writing this. I have been watching you for almost a year now and I always find your videos come at the right time of the day and week. You are very concise with your content, and listening to you brings a great sense of peace and calm to my always-busy day. In answering your inquiry, I work at a high-paced environment where you are being constantly tested with your intellectual and experiential skills. I always thought of myself as someone who highly enjoyed continuous learning, whether I am outside or inside a classroom, an office or just simply in life, so I thought my job is fitting. However, I always feel like there are so many more things for me to further learn so I constantly seek out many ways to do so (continuously reading and researching; much like what you have said). It becomes a vicious cycle when all I do is ‘download’ but no way to ‘offload’ - to which, I guess, is my answer to your question. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Sadia! You bring consciousness and awareness to life’s everyday movement :)

I am currently suffering from an illness that will eventually go away, but at the moment it puts me to bed and I have to lie around a lot more than is good for any person (some sort of chronic fatique syndrome, but with a chance of healing). I finally feel that this create/consume ratio is the reason why I feel so bad most of the time. I have always been a creative person, but when life makes you stop doing this because of just being physically too weak - it stresses you out more than work stress would do.
I am so looking forward in creating again and trying out all the amazing Pick Up Limes recipes!

I remember seeing this video in my feed a few days ago, however, I wasn't ready to watch it. I'm sitting here in the chair in my living room writing about getting back on track with my soul mission. I find I haven't been present resently because of how much I am consuming - while this point in my life is a huge turning point for me...a new chapter and I have to stay present in order to make the best of it - I have to create. I instantly felt the urge to come and watch this video...the universe told me it was the right time. I am blown away as usual. I just want to say thank you. Your videos continue to change and inspire my life. Every time I watch a video of yours I am INCREDIBLY inspired to live the life I am meant to live - to follow my heart. I had my mental breakdown last night and this video just made everything into perspective. Maybe I was consuming too much that I exploded. I newly moved to another country for work and I did some research on how to not waste my time while working abroad. At first it was harmless. I looked up on investing, putting up a business, investing in my self (learning new skills) everything that will help me to go back to my country without being broke. It made me overthink all of the decisions I'll make and put myself into a time crunch to achieve all of this. I consumed too much without creating and put myself into a worried state. This tea time ( Hahaha) will help me rethink of what I'll do with my time. Thank you so much for this. xx

I could quote the guy below 'EXACTLY what I needed to hear today' ;) That's it, I am also guilty of consuming too much, may current way of living, which is being a stay at home mom of two toddlers, make me prone to scrolling my phone, listening to podcast, watching youtube with one eye on kids and the other on the screen... and after a day like this, I feel sooo tired and overwhelmed and unsatisfied with myself. There are days when I can't do anything about it, but I'm striving for keeping that balance of imbalance as you called it ;) so I switch off the phone and PC and go to make some interesting dinner or play with kids or do some DIY and I feel MUCH better ;) You're right that this attraction to digital world is definietely both a blessing and a curse for our society :) Love you content, you are such an amazing and beautiful woman that watching you is always a pleasure ;) Take care!

I love this video so much. I have been consuming A LOT, lately. And I feel so creatively stuck and overall uninspired. I think the type of content I have been consuming has a lot to do with that. I have been watching a lot of political videos. While it is good to remain informed, it is making me feel very upset and frustrated by the division and outright nastiness occurring in my country.
I used to feel so free to create, but I feel like the world is a much more negative place than it used to be. Honestly, I feel so much fear for putting myself out there. I truly admire you and the work you do, Sadia. Oh and I just love the new Pick Up Limes space.

I may have found a good balance, I do love to read, and consume info, but I also love to create my own foods, and beverages, and paint and draw, but only for myself. A lot of times no one else never sees what I create, but my hubby does get to enjoy my creations and we've been working on putting our phones down while we are eating meals together and just chat. Creating conversation and relationship. thanks Sadia for sharing this. I love your videos.

Wow!! That is what exactly I understood two months back!!
At that time, I got some inspiration from you (reading your blog on productivity), I started writing a daily dairy, keeping a check of the things I do on a usual basis..! It literally helped me increase my productivity and at the same time I realised that I was earlier consuming my time watching videos and getting inspiration rather than actually doing things and creating something.
I shifted my focus and started doing much more in my life..!!

As a student, I feel like I'm constantly consuming. I'm consuming when I'm in class, when I'm doing the readings, and when I finally get some downtime and can go watch Netflix for a few hours. My struggle has been with turning what I'm hearing in class and reading into knowledge that I can articulate on my own. I think creating fact sheets from class notes and the readings is helping me to get more from what I consume on a daily basis. Fantastic video, Sadia!

you my dear are a gem! love your content! I too have caught myself caught in a spiral of consuming (especially as I'm starting my own business and learning as I go). Those words you spoke "do it bc you love it and not for the follows" is what I have to tell myself everyday. I find this let's my creative roam free and I'm generally happier when I do this.

What an amazing thought provoking video. As I raise my 2 teen daughters in this age of social media, I’ve talked with them continually about safety, treating others as you would want to be treated face to face-not acting “behind a screen”. I feel I’ve done pretty well with “checking in” on this. But, this is such an important way to view creating vs consuming content, in what ever form. Thank you for such a video, I will share this with my girls and continue to look inward/mindful🌸

Definitely struggle with this...home alone with two little ones....UA-cam is definitely an escape and a link to the adult/outside world. Other than my husband I have no other human interaction, so it gets pretty lonesome. Balance is hard, Internet and UA-cam and all these different platforms are infinite; there's always something else to click on.

Interesting and worthwhile topic! I binge in each direction, long periods of study, observation, contemplation, sometimes random and unfocused, sometimes to the point of “information sickness,” and then periods of focused, get-out-the product, finish-the-task, which is often motivated by a deadline. To focus I write goals and to-do’s, and celebrate small accomplishments.

Do you know the feeling when something feels off, something that's bothering you just in the back of your mind, and you sense it but can't quite put the finger on what it is? You just helped me so much to identify what that is! I obviously struggled so much with my creating / consuming valance in the last few months, and I just couldn't wrap my mind around whether or not social media and all that stuff helped me by inspiring me or pulled me down by making me face the overwhelming talent of thousands of other people. I just didn't know what to do - stop using social media? But where to get my inspiration from? Using it less? Using it differently? I didn't get to the core of the actual problem and therefore couldn't solve it. Thank you so much for this video! It's not even 5 minutes long but shifted my perspective so deeply... Thank you thank you thank you so much!!
    Much love from Germany,
    Jessica

Wow, I had never thought of this before, but I think it’s so spot on! I feel like there are some days I have boundless energy, that I can go and go and go.. but then there are days when I feel like I’ve completed nothing, even if I have marked several things off my to-do list. Now that I think of it, I feel very much ALIVE when I create something - a fancy checklist, a short story, or even a new way to rearrange my bookshelf. I think I’ll make it a goal to include at least one creative task to my day 🙂

Guilty, definitely... I sometimes feel absolutely overwhelmed on days where I consume too much. About all the people out there who are creating so many nice things and I'm just sitting on the couch, doing nothing (aka watching UA-cam Videos). Of course all these UA-cam videos give me inspiration to do something. However, I only sometimes really take action. So I always try to have days where Ido not use social media. And I start reading again, take a walk outside - and I feel inspired. Inspired in another way - I don't know how to put it into words.
But thank you for this little reminder to shift my focus to the "creating" part in my life.

This idea of consuming and creating has honestly been on my mind for the past few months now. I just called it the blance of input and output ( although I now prefer the terms you use😉). Love that you are talking about this because not many people do, and I too have let it slip to the back of my mind. Thank you for reminding me🌻

    So true.
No wonder every time I got to watch so many inspiring UA-cam videos, I always end up feeling pressured and anxious because I'm not as good as them.
Now I decided to schedule my time on UA-cam, especially in the morning and dedicated my time to do something at night, whether it's exercise or writing my thoughts as I am more of a thinker so that I don't get overwhelmed by the feeling of needing to be as inspiring as those people I watched.
And I can assure you that it makes my life better.
