I'd love for a reactor to show his highest note vs. his lowest note visually on a keyboard. Everyone always breaks out the keyboard for the low notes but never the high notes which are just as remarkable giving his range imo.
Maggie has done this in the past with Geoff in some of her earlier videos. I think she does in Oogie boogie where she's like he went from THIS to THIS! What? LOL. He's amazing.
In this one, he goes through a full four octaves more than once. That first A1 she freaked out about, is accompanied later on by Geoff hitting an A4. You can tell he's kind of reaching for it that high up, but he still pulled it off. Then he throws in the low E and the low C just for funsies. I think the highest note I heard was C4 on a little run he did.
@@DriveCarToBar If you like Geoff and/or Voiceplay today's 10/9 Twitch stream contains my request for "Hoist the Colours"... should be fun. Today at 3PM. Hope to see you there.
@@DriveCarToBar Geoff does his own tutorial video where he shows his range. He could easily sing the Bee Gees songs with the signature high notes included as well as an accompanying bass. He has a massive range, most people think it's only 4 octaves, but he can hit a 5th octave too if he has to, but he loses a lot of his power up in that range.
You've heard him do an E1 (4 tones below the A1 you were impressed by at 9 minutes) at the end of VoicePlay's cover of "Oogie Boogie" in addition to here. I think it's even cleaner there. He is astounding.
I am a baritone and can easily sing an E1 with subharmonics and growl. the A1 is easily the most impressive note in this song. when singing an a1 you can either fry or chest it. by you I mean Geoff the rest of us can only fry it. it is really low and in fact the hardest note in my opinion and experience. I am of course in high school so yeah you may not take me seriously but I hope you take this under consideration.
Love that song, and I loved how much you were into it. Maybe others can comment, but it seems that when Geoff slides from F1 to F3, he must be doing it all in chest since otherwise there would be a register break?
Maggie has already done a reaction to Geoff Castellucci - House of the rising sun, on her last live reaction stream. So there is a good chance she might load it up to her YT channel :)
The A1 notes were growl notes, while the E1 was a subharmonic note. You can hear the extra air being pushed out when he sang the growl notes, and no extra air was heard with the subharmonic note.
You would indeed make a great duet with Geoff, and surely with the whole gang too. Your voices do mesh up nicely. 😊🌺 Please check Voiceplay's version of If I Were a Rich Man/Girl, and Geoff's latest House of the Rising Sun. I would love to hear your comments on both.

Notes on his original video Geoff he & his wife filmed this in their home while their 3 year old son was sleeping and Geoff was trying to sing "softly" so he wouldn't wake him up. Then he heard "Daddy, is that Blackbird?" and Geoff's like Yup, go back to sleep.
I can understand why this works well for Geoff because the song doesn't require belting in any high pitches. He can keep all the richness because this song is not a loud performance. Geoff is the man for low notes. His voce at the low end approaches a pipe organ!🌙
I normally don’t like signers signing along with the song they are reacting to, but you sounded phenomenal with the song and were equally tasteful with your vocal choices and textures, which blended wonderfully. Great job!
I love this song and Geoff's arrangement of it; I've only listened to it a thousand times. And I just noticed his keyboard intro literally foreshadows his final deep bass note at the end of the song. Watch his left hand as he's playing and see how fare down he goes! He doesn't oversell it, but he plants the seed for us! Just when I think I couldn't admire this man more!!!!
My goodness, young lady! Didn't *you* look lovely all dolled up for this review! You sounded lovely too, when you chimed in to help Geoff make this sound even better! 😁😍
10:50 he actually went down to G1 then slid yo to A1. Truly crazy he can sing that deep in chest voice. The ending E1 was definitely subharmonic obviously
You might like VoicePlay’s take on If I Were A Rich Man from Fiddler on the Roof. Layne sings, Geoff goes high and low, and their featured artist - Ashley Diane - is a delight. (And if she can sing with them, you could too!)
Geoff also sings with his acapella group Voice Play. They often have guest artists sing with them.. But if you like Geoff's low notes, you *must* see Voice Play - Valhalla Calling. Or for more of his vocal range, his cover of Ain't No Sunshine
Came back to hear you and Geoff again after a year. Love when you sing along, hope you can duet soon. I agree with you that he should sing less in his nasal range at the opening... then it just didn't matter.
Impressed as I am with Geoff, I'm even more impressed with you. There's almost nothing you can't repicate or emulate. Throughout all these reactions, I've been stunnned with your range and sense of pitch.

I had already seen and heard this one. It is such a great experience. He has such a range !! I think you two could really make people sit up and notice .Loved your reaction too.
Effortless is the best way to describe his range. From low to high, he never strains to do it. I'd love to see you get to sing with him or even with Voiceplay. I bet that's more possible than you think. Worth contacting them or him at least.
Thank you for your comment. Did you like the new Voiceplay video reaction I just posted? Will you be there for my 195K Subscriber Celebration Live Stream tomorrow?
🌙 It took me a while to warm up to this cover, because I felt that a song about flying free shouldn't have so many notes that are a mile underground. You know? But I have, in fact, warmed up to it -- especially if I imagine the low notes representing the human singer on the ground singing *to* a bird in the tree branches / flying. I don't know if you're familiar with her work, but you might enjoy Riannon Giddens. She's a singer mostly in the American Folk & blues tradition, and she's also had formal training as an opera singer, and sings in multiple languages.
Perhaps it could also represent the "deep" seemingly endless expanse of the "dark black" night sky. Huge and looming above, again to contrast with the lightness and freedom of the bird in flight? That was my thought upon reading your comment.
i would just like to say that the E1 did shake me the first few times i listened to this, however now that my voice has grown, i can actually hit it regularly with some lead-in. ive been singing along with geoff for years and i love singing all of these subharmonic notes!
I think this is the first reaction video I have heard with the host singing along with the recording. In this case - I LOVE IT. You do blend in with Geoff wonderfully.
Is this the first time Maggie reacted to Geoff Castellucci?🤔 Loved all the epic facial expressions through out the reaction. 😆 Must have went far back to get this one I'm thinking.

Yes, you should sing a duet with him. He's got a web site (just see the description of any of his videos). And there's contact info there. So contact him, tell him who you are, point him at your reaction videos (both here and for VoicePlay) and a couple videos of you singing, and ask. What's the worst that can happen? He says "no"? You're a professional singer. You've heard "no" a lot. But he might say "yes". And that would make the world a better place! A multi-track duet with Geoff and Maggie!
Wow Maggie: Thank you so very much for this wonderful reaction vid! I not only 100% agree with your thoughts about this song ......i, like u am blown away by it! It seems that every reaction vid u come out with......is a vastly enriching viewing and listening experience! All i can say young lady is....KEEP EM, COMING LOL!! p.s......as per usual...you look absolutely lovely!! Take care!
VoicePlay, for whom Geoff is the bas,s, has included female singers several times. Like Rachel Potter with the “Little Mermaid Medley”. You’ve reacted to Geoff before with “Oogie Boogie Song”. React to Geoff’s latest solo cover “House of the Rising Sun”. Geoff arranges his own music generally and much of VoicePlay’s music. He is super talented.
A chocolate creampuff?!? What a perfect analogy for this hopefully soon to be duet. Or even the whole a capella band. Would love to see , or rather hear it.
Hello beautiful lady. This man is the best bass I have heard in ages. He has an amazing range. Please review his 16 tonnes. He has great tone also. EPIC. Love your facial reactions.
Geoff has amazing videos, and as others mentioned, VoicePlay has great songs. I personally love "Daddy Sang Bass", but him doing "The Headless Horseman" is great. For a better range you can listen to Tim Foust on Homefree. When they sang with Avi Kaplan (the third of the great acapella bass singers) on "Ring of Fire" it was amazing.
I remember the first time watching this. My first thought at the end was 'I knew he was gonna drop into the basement, but I didn't know he was gonna break the foundation!' But all jokes aside, a duet between you two would be absolutely amazing! I don't even care what song you sing.

New subscriber. I joined because you listen to music like I do. I ran across you because I was already listening to Geoff (practicing). I looked around before I said anything because I wanted to hear you sing. What a pleasant experience, you also have a wonderful voice. Keep up the good work, I'll listen.
Thank you for your lovely comment and welcome to the channel! Hope to see you today at the Premiere and tomorrow on the Live Stream! Happy Holidays! 🤗💟
I don't know if he influenced Peter Hollens with the layering or if Peter influenced him. To understand the layering that Peter does check out the "Misty Mountains" cover he and Tim Foust did. I think fairly certain that Geoff did the editing himself. He has helped Home Free with arrangements. This is a technological golden time for a capella. We are so lucky to catch it new. My ears have been blessed since the mid 60s. I love how into all of these groups you get. Keep reacting and I will keep enjoying.
Thank you for your comment. Did you enjoy my new reaction video to Voiceplay I just posted and hope you will join us for Floor Jansen reaction Premiere today in less than 1 hour?
It's like that note was lifting the bird off the ground. I didn't know the background although I was a senior in high school when it was written. Venus 501 had the skinny on it as well. "During a concert in the US , before performing this song, Paul McCartney spoke on stage about the meaning of the song. After the show, during an interview, the meaning was further discussed: I had been doing poetry readings. I had been doing some in the last year or so because I’ve got a poetry book out called Blackbird Singing, and when I would read “Blackbird”, I would always try and think of some explanation to tell the people, ’cause there’s not a lot you can do except just read the poem, you know, you read 10 poems that takes about 10 minutes, almost. It’s like, you’ve got to, just, do a bit more than that. So, I was doing explanations, and I actually just remembered why I’d written “Blackbird”, you know, that I’d been, I was in Scotland playing on my guitar, and I remembered this whole idea of “you were only waiting for this moment to arise” was about, you know, the black people’s struggle in the southern states, and I was using the symbolism of a blackbird. It’s not really about a blackbird whose wings are broken, you know, it’s a bit more symbolic. Paul McCartney, Interview with KCRW’s Chris Douridas, 25 May 2002 So, basically, Blackbird was inspired by the racial tensions that exploded in the US on spring 1968 as a symbolic way to support the efforts of the Civil Rights Movement. McCartney underlined also that “bird” is a British slang often used for “girl”, which would make “blackbird” become “black girl”. This lexical escamotage combined with the events back in 1960s seem to refer to Rosa Parks, a black woman who, while on a bus, refused to give up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled; she later become “the first lady of civil rights” and “the mother of the freedom movement”. Anyway, this song is so deep and at the same time so metaphoric that it can be used as a song of freedom in any circumstances. It sings that even if your not free, if you live in darkness, if your wings are broken and your eyes sunken, you should always try to arise, fly and follow the light that even in the darkest night shines. Notably, Blackbird is one of the top ten most recorded covers of all time. I would like to present to you one of the best, in my opinion: the cover from Crosby, Still and Nash performed at Woodstock."
Geoff best work by himself was 16 Tons. Almost all low with tools for percussion is a must watch! Accidentally caused camera shake from percussion gives it a magical visual, I think you will adore. He does all the composition and even got thanks for composition for Home Free/Oakridge Boys' Elvira!

I posted this before watching the whole video. Please sing with these reaction videos. He sounds beautiful, you sound beautiful. Keep going, please. I envy the both of you
Geoff is just an amazing singer, producer, and performer.....Always loved his bass vocals. So beautiful to listen his smooth velvet tone to!....use loop alot, lol

🌙 Always love the super lows Geoff can hit and his range. Very talented.

I love it when you decide to sing along
Thank you for your comment. Can't wait to see you soon. 😊
SING YOU BEAUTIFUL 😇 SING!
I had already seen and heard this one. It is such a great experience. He has such a range !! I think you two could really make people sit up and notice .Loved your reaction too.
Thank you for your lovely comment. 😊 Hope to see you later today here? ua-cam.com/video/UNoOvCoGscA/v-deo.html
I'm so glad you finally did this! It's insane!
His voice is so buttery smooth and at the same time clean and clear
I LOVE when u sing along!!!
Be yourself, be free!
i would just like to say that the E1 did shake me the first few times i listened to this, however now that my voice has grown, i can actually hit it regularly with some lead-in. ive been singing along with geoff for years and i love singing all of these subharmonic notes!
No, she's reacted to him before. I think the first one was Oogie Boogie with VoicePlay where he hits an E1 several times as well.
@@pennyc7833 Yea Oogie boogie was first, then she went straight into This is Halloween because she was like wait what? I need more!
@@trixiebella Pretty sure I had the same response to VoicePlay. :D

Blackbird is definitely part of his top tier stuff, but I think his latest, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen is right up there with it. Blessings and Merry Christmas!
I usually do not comment alot, I like all your video's and have enjoyed every reaction you have given from the beginning. I want you to know that you an incredible young woman and person. You have shown me that musically this generation has hope. Thank you for allowing me to spend time with you on the internet. Thank you, thank you, thank you Maggie.

Thank you Maggie for loving my comment, stay beautiful
Yes, you should sing a duet with him. He's got a web site (just see the description of any of his videos). And there's contact info there. So contact him, tell him who you are, point him at your reaction videos (both here and for VoicePlay) and a couple videos of you singing, and ask. What's the worst that can happen? He says "no"? You're a professional singer. You've heard "no" a lot. But he might say "yes". And that would make the world a better place! A multi-track duet with Geoff and Maggie!

Yes, it's really an A1. Geoff has an incredible range and plays in the "1's" from time to time.
This is one of my favorite songs... and this is my favorite cover of Jeffs... hands down.
Take care!

Yay, I have been recommending this one for a while! Still my favorite by him I think.

What a perfect analogy for this hopefully soon to be duet.
Or even the whole a capella band. Would love to see , or rather hear it.

Wow! You should do a video harmonizing with this!!! You sounded amazing!!!

I really enjoy watching the reactions from professionals, plus hearing this man.
You should react to his covers of Misty Mountains and House of the Rising Sun. Also check out VoicePlay's If I were a rich man/girl
Misty Mountains has been done by Geoff & Tim Hollens/ Tim Foust. Awaiting Editing :D
@@trixiebella, when did Peter change his name to Tim? 🤔
@@DennisKovacich LOL Yes should have been Peter Hollens & Tim Foust :D
Maggie has already done a reaction to Geoff Castellucci - House of the rising sun, on her last live reaction stream. So there is a good chance she might load it up to her YT channel :)
@@trixiebella Geoff Castellucci did also a solo one of Misty Mountains, right?
New subscriber. I joined because you listen to music like I do. I ran across you because I was already listening to Geoff (practicing). Oh I've been looking forward to seeing this reaction for SOOOOOOO long. This is gonna be fun on a bun!
Edit: 🌙
I don't know if he influenced Peter Hollens with the layering or if Peter influenced him. To understand the layering that Peter does check out the "Misty Mountains" cover he and Tim Foust did. I think fairly certain that Geoff did the editing himself. He has helped Home Free with arrangements. This is a technological golden time for a capella. We are so lucky to catch it new. My ears have been blessed since the mid 60s. I love how into all of these groups you get. Keep reacting and I will keep enjoying.
Peter has been doing it since 2010 I believe.

It's like that note was lifting the bird off the ground.
I didn't know the background although I was a senior in high school when it was written. Venus 501 had the skinny on it as well.
"During a concert in the US , before performing this song, Paul McCartney spoke on stage about the meaning of the song. After the show, during an interview, the meaning was further discussed:
I had been doing poetry readings.
Paul McCartney, Interview with KCRW’s Chris Douridas, 25 May 2002
So, basically, Blackbird was inspired by the racial tensions that exploded in the US on spring 1968 as a symbolic way to support the efforts of the Civil Rights Movement.
