Dude the start gave me a heart attack. If you didn't know, the CRIMINAL comes from a Five Nights at Freddy's inspired VHS series that's really gorey and dark.
To be serious for a sec, I agree with your whole list. I think just about everyone you’ve mentioned would have made great tvs characters, especially bear
I would’ve wanted Jock and Fred in the CGI series since we already got the smallies in it. I also would’ve wanted to see a flashback episode for how Toby got to Sodor.
The problem with this idea is that Spencer and Gordon - both of whom were built in Doncaster to run on the East Coast Main Line - would agree that London is King's Cross.
I honestly think Season 5 was supposed to introduce the Culdee Fell railway, given the fact that Culdee was featured in an unusual amount of merch throughout the late 90's (some with Shining Time branding no less) and the Narrow Gauge railways seemed a lot more mountainous in S5, making me think those sets were originally meant to be Culdee Fell. Since Season 4 introduced the Skarloey and Mid-Sodor Railways, introducing Culdee Fell in Season 5 would've made sense as a followup. When Allcroft and Awdry had their falling out, it probably prevented that from happening.
CFR Engines: I disagree, actually. The only RWS book they are featured in was very obviously written as a one-off (even supposed to be as such by Chris Awdry), and although it would be "cool" to have them in the TVS, I think a lot more setup would be necessary before these guys got into the show. It's also worth noting that every episode involving them having some connection to our main characters (Granpuff style) would get old FAST, and would also become harder to do, unlike the SKR engines who can interact with our main cast at Crovan's Gate and a few other places in the HiT era as well. It would be cool for a time, but I think they'd come and go as quickly as the likes of Bertram - an interesting oddity. The Big City Engine: Yes, absolutely. It would be interesting to see him interact with Gordon and also Murdoch would be cool. He could fulfil a role where Spencer wouldn't quite work. I'm always eagerto see mainland engines more in the show, but he would work best as a minor character, maybe occasionally with an episode as a secondary. Jinty and Pug: Mayyyybbbeeee. I'm gonna get hated for this, but again, they did what they needed to and then left. They don't have the cool design of the Big City Engine to back themselves up, but if the writers could come up with some good and distinct personalities for them, I would take it. Wilbert/Sixteen: YES. Out of all the characters on your list, I find these two to be the best picks. I actually think Sixteen would be a strong villain character, and Wilbert was pretty strong in his introductory book, and I think he could be used somewhat like Stepney - he could appear in adaptations of his book, and then appear sometimes as a character with a smaller role. I think he would be the perfect character to experiment with some interesting moral ideas. He's an austerity engine, and it would be cool to see episodes featuring him wondering how he can be different and not just be a cheap model churned out like all the others. I AM SO DOWN FOR THIS. Bear: Yes, I think I'd agree with this. I'd love to see a Super Rescue adaptation in CGI, and this would be a good intro for Bear. He would work well as long as they experimented well with his dynamics, and made sure he wasn't a Boco mark two - loved, but ultimately thrown under the bus because he doesn't have a jazzy personality or some stupidly colourful design. Jock: Hmmmmyeah... I'd like to see this, but only if we got a few things first. Firstly, more setup with the smallies. We would need more time to cement their dynamics and traits and then drop Jock and Frank into the mix. I would say Jock would fit quite well in a Season 3 kind of story, and I think there are characters I would adapt first. Speaking of: I'd love to see Toby's Brothers, it would create interesting opportunities for our favourite tram that we haven't seen in a long time. Other picks include the Ministry of Defence engine, and maybe Victoria as well (or bring back Old Slow Coach like I suggested in my latest video). Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
I agree with all the characters you mentioned. I've also discovered an episode form the classic series that I think you could do a video on. It's called Emily and the Special Coaches. In it Gordon has set a new record and Sir Topham Hatt has two express coaches painted in a blue livery with red and yellow stripes to present to Gordon as a reward and asks Emily to pick them and deliver them to the station where the ceremony is take place. On the way Emily meets Diesel who says that there is another record on Sodor, but Emily rudely dismisses him calling him a smelly old diesel. This actually hurts Diesel's feelings and whenever Diesel tries to talk to Emily, she just brushes him off. Finally Diesel winds up stealing the special coaches, telling Thomas that he was the one to pick up and deliver the coaches. Emily then goes to fetch STH who gets aboard Emily and they manage to track down Diesel whose engine is nearly failed due to it being old. When confronted Diesel says he left the coaches on a siding and will only tell Emily the exact location if she will listen to what diesel was trying to say. It turns out Diesel also set a record for the most freight cars shunted in one day. Emily then feels bad, but then gets an idea which she tells STH who agrees. As Gordon is presented with his special coaches, Diesel is presented with a new engine to replace his old one. It is the first Thomas episode where Diesel's character is given more depth, and shows how he can be more than just an antagonistic bully who picks on the steam engines and gets into trouble
I think that a lot of these characters should have been added permanently to the TVS in the Hit era, they'd have been much more memorable than the countless one offs that most fans either hate or ignore.
Honestly, all these engines, including D199 and Frank would've made great inclusions to the show entirely. Maybe for a new video, you can do a Top 10 list on RWS stories you've found interesting; that could've been included in the actual show.
The Culdee mountain engine were going to be adopted to the television series with the narrow gauge railway, which is why in the hit era, narrow gauge engines are referred as the engines in the hills
Honorable mention: the thirteenth engine. He’s also in the railway series as he helps with Donald and Douglas in the mainland. Though he is very unlucky, adding him to the show would make a more dynamic character for Donald and Douglas
Thing about the culdee fell is it didn't have much presence in the railway series. Also, mountain railways have a lot of safety protocalls due to their danger, and given a lot of thomas and friends stories involve some sort of incident it would be very hard to justify having them when very few stories could be made with them.
1. Culdee and Jock could appear in CGI now. 2. B.C.E. was bound to be a henry model but was canceled. 3. Pug could have been a new model of Bill or Ben. Jinty could have been a model of Oliver or Thomas with Thomas's Chassis. 4. Bear,16, and Wilbert couldn't probably work due to budget cuts.
Mountain Engines had so much hope after the Small Railway made its debut. Always felt they were a staple for the show given the amount of merch Culdee Godred and Lord Harry were given.
here are the engines that I would love to see in the classic series: the Culdee/mountain engines, Jinty & Pug and of course, my personal favorite, Wilbert.
Honestly I agree with all of your choices because they are amazing and great characters to be put in the classic series and maybe the cgi series but that opportunity was just missed so sad. In my opinion I would also add Ivo Hugh but thats just because I want a narrow gauge engine representative so yeah :)
I'm glad that you put Jinty and Pug on the list. They look like they could have been really interesting characters if they were actually introduced into the TV series.
An interesting choice of characters. I would have liked to see Adams the Adams Radial Tank in the series (a bit of a weird choice) but the reason being that I would find it a great way to have more character development with the the Great Western Engines Duck and Oliver as the LSWR and GWR had a massive rivalry during the pre-grouping days and it would be interesting to see how each character would act accordingly as to which railway is better. Maybe Adams is a visiting engine or something but he would be my weird choice. Excellent video though, I thoroughly enjoyed it
I wish me saw more of neil and the sodor mainland crew it would have been nice to see them in a episode were skarloye tells the other engines how he came to be on the skarloye railway or maybe an episode about how edward and thomas arrived featuring neil
Here are my thoughts, The Mountain Engines definitely should be on the show, and it’s a shame Brenner never got to introduce them during his tenure (thanks Mattel!). It’s understandable why they wouldn’t have been in the model series since they’d admittedly be difficult to depict in that format. The CGI adaptation of the Arlesdale Engines was excellent and it’s a shame the Culdee Fell engines never got the same treatment. D199 and Bear would be good, Calling All Engines would’ve been a great time to introduce them! Wilbur and 16 would’ve been super easy to do in model form. Big City Engine would’ve been fine, but one reason that episode was cancelled, is because Britt didn’t think kids would get the joke/reference that the story builds up to, which is understandable. Funny, I actually had the ERTL toys of Godred, D199, Wilbert, and 16 as a kid, and I often wondered why I never saw them on any of my Thomas VHS tapes...,
I 100% agree with your choices. The Mountain Engines would've helped with the problem of leaving out the Peel Godred Branch, the Big City Engine (Randolph as named by Victor Tanzig) would've made a great rival for Gordon, the events of Thomas and the Letter weren't right without Jinty (Justin) and Pug (Paul) to show the existence of British Railways, Wilbert would've made a great symbol to Awdry in the TV Series, Bear was a favorite Diesel character of mine who was immediately on the steam engines' side without a story arc needed, and the Arlesdale Railway just isn't the same without Jock or the other little engines in the picture.
I had the ERTL toys of the Culdee Fell Engines as a kid, and I was so mystified as to who these guys were and wondered why I hadn't seen them in the show yet. Then I actually read RWS' Mountain Engines, and wished it had been made in the show. Shame that it never has to this day. I also wondered why they made a toy of Godred if his only mention in the book was of him getting scrapped.
Will ya please do the real stories of toad stands by, you can’t win, a close shave for duck, duck takes charge, diesel devious deed, rusty helps Peter-Sam, and more stories, too?
Super Rescue is honestly the BEST RWS story, it would have been great to adapt so we could get Bear as a new friendly diesel with D199 as a recurring "villain" so all the burden isn't put on Diesel and D261. And considering the RWS went on until 2011, other stories from the RWS should have been adapted into the TV series. Small Railway Engines is cool to have in the TV series, but more should have come as well. Mountain Engines could EASILY have gone into the CGI series.
They should've adapted Gordon's arc into the TV series. Where he's arrogant and haughty in the beginning, but in the end gives up the express to the HST.
Out of all the characters I wish the CFR engines would have appeared, given the fact that they are cannon in the show, as the railway is on the TV series map, and it has been confirmed that SKR controller, Mr. Percivel, is their controller. Plus right until 2015 they were still making Culdee merch.
You know, the Culdee Fell engines prompted a thought: all the engines (apart from them) have faces just on the smokebox. So they must be turned at the end of every run (except when Thomas is working in push-pull mode with Annie & Claribel). (Apart from that incident with Gordon that time.) You never see Percy or Duck, or even Bill & Ben, running bunker-first do you. Something worth thinking about there. 🤔
There are two blue engines from the RWS that I think would be good in an episode where Sir Topham needs to borrow more engines for faster services, and they are, 87546 and 98462. Even though we don’t know the classes of the both of them, It would be interesting to see them in CGI.
3:52 he was going to be in season four so was Molly behind the scene pictures also show that there were two austerity tank enginn meaning that 16 was also going to be in as well
I remember having original take n play models of the mountain engines, I'd watch every episode as a kid trying to spot them but could never find them, I'm curious as to why they made toys of models kids weren't really familiar with. anyway, great video man, I'm currently making a HO lady
I agree with most of the characters you mentioned, except the culdee engines. But that's my opinion. One character in the Classic Series that should have never been introduced was Mighty Mac and in the CGI Series, Samson.
I wish the Culdee Fell Railway got some TV Series appearance, it always seemed like they wanted to make them a thing but couldn't because of this reason or that.
I think every rws story should've been adapted I remember when I was a little kid, I had no clue who Culdee, Catherine, D199, Wilbert, Big City Engine, or Mike were at all, I mean I still have my Take n' Play Culdee but I remember knowing nothing about any of those characters; still though, Mike, Big City Engine, and Culdee were at least fun to play with (I substituted Mike for James and BCE for Henry until I got wooden railway versions of them)
Everyone. In my fanon it focuses on the unseen and unadapted stories and introduces little new characters and the background/secondary would be the engines who didn’t make it to cgi.
If any Thomas characters that were only presented in the railway series books that should appear in the show (to me anyways and just because they were part of the wooden railway trains and other vehicles including two that never became a wooden train) it would be Neil, frank, jock (didn’t become a wooden train except for an ERTL one, while Rex who appeared in the show with Bert and mike will just be a take n play one), ballast spreader (Sodor railway repair), Catherine, Culdee, Wilbert, Ivo Hugh, diesel 199, bear (didn’t become a wooden train, but is an ERTL one or can probably use the older 1997 version of diesel 199 as him, while I use the 2013 version of Diesel 199 as bear) and big city engine. Also I like mainly the railway series books and the fan-made series that I have watched on UA-cam which is called Thomas wooden railway (with no spaces) which has those railway series characters that I have mentioned and most of the characters that have only appeared once in the show. Any Thomas characters that I like now, it will be all of the train characters (that have been part of the wooden railway era) up to five of the great railway show characters: Frieda Gina Vinnie Ashima and yong boa and Hugo and any road or other off-track vehicles it will be all of them up to most of the pack characters (except for Ned and buster) Madge and captain, oh yeah and including the post van, the fire truck and fire train, the Sodor fire crew, road crew, and power crew vehicles.
Would have been great to see the Peel Godred electric engines as they weren't even properly introduced in the RWS. Also we would get to see a new branch line that was never fleshed out in the model series.
Pug could be difficult, but all you really need for Jinty is to repaint Oliver and put him on the chassis of Thomas, or more likely Duck or the Scottish Twins.
i would say any characters that would fit into the story or affected it in a certain way would have been great in the TVS, that being something like the Mid Sodor Engines like Albert, Atlas, and Stanley, as they could have given a bit of context to why the MSR closed in the first place. (i know we learn this in the RWS) but some fans only watched the TVS and never touched the RWS Clive, Neil, and Matthew could have added something to the origin of the island, and engines like 98462 (Alfred) and 87546 could have added backstory to Edward's Day Out. "they were all bigger and stronger than Edward" and fucken thomas is there like bs maybe like a similar story line to Pop goes the Diesel but with Alfred and 87546?
1:12 Wait the railway repair thing was a charcter? i thought it was just a random toy that was marketed as a wooden railway exclusive but then again i only ever grew up with the TVS
I think some stories involving the little western's auto-coaches would have been interesting. they still need an engine to move but they're the ones in control.
Fans: "They should add Bear so we'd have another unique diesel character."
TV Series: "Best we can do is more Class 08s."

The Mountain Engines definitely should be on the show, and it’s a shame Brenner never got to introduce them during his tenure (thanks Mattel!).
Joke: *Budget: Am I A Joke To You*
I had the ERTL toys of the Culdee Fell Engines as a kid, and I was so mystified as to who these guys were and wondered why I hadn't seen them in the show yet.
I would love if they mentioned the Flying Scottsman in someway along with mentioning the Culdee fell railway engines, etc
I agree with jinty, pug and bear
A lot of characters deserve to be in the TV show
Super Rescue is honestly the BEST RWS story, it would have been great to adapt so we could get Bear as a new friendly diesel with D199 as a recurring "villain" so all the burden isn't put on Diesel and D261. And considering the RWS went on until 2011, other stories from the RWS should have been adapted into the TV series. Small Railway Engines is cool to have in the TV series, but more should have come as well. Mountain Engines could EASILY have gone into the CGI series.
I think Very Old Engines would've been great to adapt too, gives Skarloey and Rheneas more to do
They should've adapted Gordon's arc into the TV series. Where he's arrogant and haughty in the beginning, but in the end gives up the express to the HST.
Dean Forest railway, not Dean River.
Also, I'd absolutely love to see Neil. He could have a lovely character dynamic with Glyn and Stephen.
Out of all the characters I wish the CFR engines would have appeared, given the fact that they are cannon in the show, as the railway is on the TV series map, and it has been confirmed that SKR controller, Mr. Percivel, is their controller. Plus right until 2015 they were still making Culdee merch.
0:21 is cursed
Plus I agree with you, and there's more that I want, but I'm not going to name them
You know, the Culdee Fell engines prompted a thought: all the engines (apart from them) have faces just on the smokebox. So they must be turned at the end of every run (except when Thomas is working in push-pull mode with Annie & Claribel). (Apart from that incident with Gordon that time.) You never see Percy or Duck, or even Bill & Ben, running bunker-first do you. Something worth thinking about there. 🤔
Loved the video! I haven't really thought about Jock. Since I don't have the story that he's in.
There are two blue engines from the RWS that I think would be good in an episode where Sir Topham needs to borrow more engines for faster services, and they are, 87546 and 98462. Even though we don’t know the classes of the both of them, It would be interesting to see them in CGI.
"They Couldn't afford to make an entirely new engine just for one episode"
*Looks at D261*
And Derek
I’ve always wanted to see the stories from Christopher awdry’s book “Thomas and the great railway show be adapted into the TVS
Eyy the “criminal... criminal....” thing from squimpus mquimpus. I saw that guy
*STILL* wish Bear, Jock and Frank made it in! 😭💔
And *I wish* Elizabeth and the rest of the Pack returned!!! 😭💔
Yes
intro: *Criminal, criminal, criminal*
me: PURPLE GUY!?
You should make a tv characters that should’ve been included in the rws
3:52 he was going to be in season four so was Molly behind the scene pictures also show that there were two austerity tank enginn meaning that 16 was also going to be in as well
It would have been nice if Ivo Hough and The Electric Engines were adapted into television series.
Agreed! Seeing the line/fleet of electric locomotives that Sodor apparently had would’ve been so cool!
Iron Duke: *”Am I a joke to you?”*
Good thing I make my series a mixture of RWS & TVS. I wish Pip & Emma also joined the series too.
2:50 uhhhh Bowler? (i wish they wouldve used him more often tho)
I wish all trains have faces
Great video!! Just pointing out its blinkers, not blinders. In the UK blinkers are smoke deflectors
Nice work! I’d say the Sodor railway repair should’ve been in the series. Since what ThomasWoodenRailway did with him.
I remember having original take n play models of the mountain engines, I'd watch every episode as a kid trying to spot them but could never find them, I'm curious as to why they made toys of models kids weren't really familiar with. anyway, great video man, I'm currently making a HO lady
Haven’t even finished the video as I’m vibing to “Criminal”
A man of culture :)
I 💯fully agree with ALL of the characters mentioned that should have made it into the series.
The Big City Engine looks a lot like Murdoch.
I'd loved to see Pip & Emma, Neil and Bear.
I would have LOVE to see Jinty, Culdee engines, Red Skarloey engines (why do they have to be different colours) , the S&M engines , Bear
There's an alternate universe where the TV model series stuck directly to the Railway Series books, in order, to a tee.
Where they never transition into CGI either. They're still using models to this very day.

I find it funny that the Sodor Railway Repair was made in the wooden railway line, despite being in literally one single illustration.😅
I agree with most of the characters you mentioned, except the culdee engines. But that's my opinion.
One character in the Classic Series that should have never been introduced was Mighty Mac and in the CGI Series, Samson.
Fun Fact the Culdee fell railway was mentioned twice in the TV series.
I wish the Culdee Fell Railway got some TV Series appearance, it always seemed like they wanted to make them a thing but couldn't because of this reason or that.
I think every rws story should've been adapted
I remember when I was a little kid, I had no clue who Culdee, Catherine, D199, Wilbert, Big City Engine, or Mike were at all, I mean I still have my Take n' Play Culdee but I remember knowing nothing about any of those characters; still though, Mike, Big City Engine, and Culdee were at least fun to play with (I substituted Mike for James and BCE for Henry until I got wooden railway versions of them)
Awdry would've been a funny addition, since he's an engine with W. Awdry's face.
(i know we learn this in the RWS) but some fans only watched the TVS and never touched the RWS
Clive, Neil, and Matthew could have added something to the origin of the island, and engines like 98462 (Alfred) and 87546 could have added backstory to Edward's Day Out.
"they were all bigger and stronger than Edward" and fucken thomas is there like bs
maybe like a similar story line to Pop goes the Diesel but with Alfred and 87546?
"criminal" holy crap that just brought back a fnaf lost tape that I whatched
1:12 Wait the railway repair thing was a charcter? i thought it was just a random toy that was marketed as a wooden railway exclusive but then again i only ever grew up with the TVS
3:37 Oliver (With Duck's chassis) and Bill.
I think D199 (Spamcan), D7101 (Bear), and Pip and Emma
If you haven't yet make custom models of ginty and pug yet please do it would be so cool!
I think they should've adapted "Gordon goes foreign" with Murdoch playing the role of bce. He does look pretty similar
I think some stories involving the little western's auto-coaches would have been interesting. they still need an engine to move but they're the ones in control.
Or maybe randomly introduce that Thomas is an auto tank, and Annie & Clarabelle as a auto-coach pair. Like in the RWS.
I always thought Old Stuck Up would be a good one to adapt as D261's model could have been repainted blue.
