i remember my grandpa buying me a Märklin Thomas to use on his layout. it was a fairly small german branchline like layout but somehow thomas fitted in pretty well on a layout designed for small german/swiss tank engines and railbusses. i remember the he later got 2 generic green marklin coaches which i used as annie and clarabell. to this day that Thomas is the only Märklin Thomas product ive ever seen.
I remember last year at a train show I stumbled upon a Shining Time RC set that included a figure 8 track with a tunnel, Toby, Henrietta, and a troublesome truck, never knew that existed!
There's one japanese brand that made T&F merch that was really accurate to the TVS. They looked so cool, worked kinda like a scale model, but they functioned with a magic wand. I hope you search for them!
I remember having this brand of Thomas characters that were sold in the checkouts back in the day. They were small cheap plastic toys with hidden wheels inside them, and they had the same moulds as their Take-Along models.
Tomy, Capsule, early trackmaster, and Plarail are the best hands downs. I remember coming home from school and making a different track running down my hallway everyday. Good times 😢
SAME I made the best train sets and the characters looked so good and had so much fun playing with them all, now most of them are broken and the new trackmaster trains that all use the same body and run on the dumb grey track are just a joke.🙄 don't even get me started on "all engines go" I WILL NEVER buy or even LOOK at those toys. that is not Thomas and Friends! I WANT MATTLE TO GIVE THE THOMAS AND FRIENDS FRANCHISE TO SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT IT!!!
I remember when I was 4 years old, there was a big book fair. With only 10 dollars in my pocket I got Thomas and friends book with the Mirco rubber engines in the book. Unfortunately I do not have the book but I still have the engines , including Annie and Clarabel.
I love small scale figurines, so I absolutely loved the My Busy Books toys. They were so satisfying to hold, especially James and Thomas, and the hard rubbery texture was so satisfying to feel. I remember playing with them outside in the dry dirt or in small gravel that looked like coal, I rarely ever used the playmat they came with. The originals were so soft, you could cut them with a razor blade and make your own engines, or just separate the tenders like I did. Sadly, the second book changed the material to a hallow hard plastic mold, which was less appealing to play with, and was prone to warping.
Fun fact: I own the first two iterations of the micro rubber engines and I can say with confidence that they look a bit different between releases, with the second iteration generally having less detail. So here's a list of (off the top of my head) stuff they changed (Also I'll just be calling them series 1 and 2 for simplicity): Series 2's returning engines don't have cab windows for the engines that had them, painted eyes, painted buffers, the paint on their faces looks a bit worse, and their colours are brighter. Series 1's James had bronze side rods. Yeah I can't be bothered to go get them and actually have a look at them to see if anything else is different.
Can't lie, I wish I still had all my ERTL stuff... I had loads, but my mum gave them all away, including some limited edition ones and the big Thomas carry case. 😭😭😭 Back in the days when toys were indestructible and hurt (if thrown at you by a sibling).
Idk if you've covered them in other videos but there was a rare line of these like, wooden railway/take-n-play hybrid toys called Interactive Learning Railway. I had a couple of the sets growing up but I've barely seen anybody ever talk about them
You just unlocked a core memory I had lost so long ago. Pulling out that plastic mat and the little rubber engines was so fun to me, but i could never fold the mat back right and the book would never close fully 😅. Thank you so much for digging that back up
I know that finding every single obscure Thomas merch range but I was hoping that you'd mention one that I've been trying to find out if anyone knows about this particular range that came out in the UK around 2011. Found at my local Tesco, Hit also had other of their properties packaged this way but there were these navy blind boxes that had a superb quality, in both plastic and detail, Thomas character and some jelly beans. They had rollers on the bottom and had black couplings (L on front, loop on back). I've lost them all at this point including Rosie which I slipped under the gap of a broom closet door at a leisure centre. Hope this comment shines some light on this range and lets me know that I can't be the only one
For the coffee merch i have both the pull bacm ones ( Bell, Diesel, Diesel10, Hiro and James.) and the push along ones ( Percy with a banner, Charlie, Scruffy and 6 coaches with banners).
I find it interesting. Also those rubber thomas bits? Ever heard of Ducking a jeep? See a parked jeep leave a rubber duck on the driver door handle. I would so do it with thomas.
When I was little, I had the boss Oliver, Jeremy, and, I believe, Gordon. I have no idea where I got them, nor where they are now, but it’s nice to finally see somebody shine some light on the little toys I’ve been so perplexed by for years.

I would of loved to buy the ir Thomas stuff if they made more of them, really sad the great looking merch isn't still around anymore besides Bachmann and I guess capsual thing but like the main 4 Thomas merch has all been discontinued which sucks
the konami IR train set looks to have continued past that into DigiQ trains so im wondering if anyone can check those out and see if the controls are also like that
this reminds me of two things 1-When I was little I was once given a culdee ertl but since I didn't know the brand I kept it but I never saw it again 2-I have an express car that I don't know what brand it is, and the bad thing is that nothing appears at the bottom
I own 3 engines from a brand called "De Agostini". They looked similar to Ertl engines, except they were more detailed and were made of plastic unlike Ertl. The three engines I own from this brand are Edward, Henry and Percy. There's also another brand called "Limited Edition Collectables", they looked similar to Take'n'Play engines except they were made of plastics, their wheels were static and they had no magnets. I only ever owned Thomas.
Ngl I would love to have the R/C thomas and Percy range if they made more. It looks across between Trackmaster and 1/87 scale. It definitely looks interesting and it looks like something I would love to get as a kid.

My local model railway shop has just put an order in for 6 Bachmann N gauge Gordon, safe to say I’ve got my name on one of them. Don’t know when they are due in tho.

Bro the micro rubber engines take me back. I was so young and I think I had the first one and then years later my baby brother got the newest one. It came full circle basically

I still have a lot of wooden railway and take a long from my childhood- plus some ertl. Part of me wants to see them get a new home, though, and not sit in the closet lmao
On Ebay I got 2 of the crazy Thomas robot sets that went together like Voltron. Crazy Asian knockoff. They have completely different packaging and slightly different details. Look it up, Thomas Voltron is real
I still have the second my busy book and I do enjoy playing with them as well as reading the book maybe someday I would like to get the rest of the my busy books.

Was it “Departing now” by any chance?
