Mattel: "We don't have enough characters to reintroduce"
Me: Yeah totally
Can I just say Wilbert Awdry has some of the best Original Characters.
I have to agree bro 🧐
Very true 👍 👌 👏 🙂
Every fukin diesel with the "diesel" on it 🧐
@@YuukaKazami241 Hello there it is I, Diesel (Enter number here)

I remember having an obsession with D199 as a child mainly through youtube videos featuring him, I even got a wooden railway model of him
CLASSIC UA-cam Thomas content right there, I hope he and those Plarails are doing well nowadays
So did i
Me too

The fact the Rev self inserted himself is funnier than it should be
I never knew about Awdry's self insert. Seems like the fandom inherited it's traits right from the man himself.
Of the two self namings id say wilbert was the less terrifying one
The trainified reverend is sprta nightmare fuel
Personal canon time:
Bill and Ben (as they did in the TVS) as well as Stanley, Charlie, Molly, Belle and Stafford take the place of the BR engines in "Percy Takes the Plunge". The twins apparently did so well at the docks while Percy and Duck were away that Topham decided to purchase them for the NWR.
Peter Sam brought Cora with him and Sir Handel after they were purchased by the SKR.
Murdoch is the "Big City Engine" Gordon and Duck argued with.
Paxton and Sidney arrived on Sodor shortly after "Old Stuck-Up" had his accident and was sent away for repairs. Paxton was assigned to Tidmouth as its new shunter (a la "Paxton Prevails" by TheBuriedTruck) and grew rather chummy with the Skarloey engines; Sidney worked various odd jobs around the island. Paxton also takes the place of the Works Diesel in this canon's "Deep Freeze" equivalent (think something like "Gordon Runs Dry" but with James).
Talyllyn is female.
Merlin, Mallard, Green Arrow, Flying Scotsman, Stephen, Wilbert (the Austerity engine named for the Reverend) and Stepney were all present at the Great Railway Show.
Whiff, Scruff and Harvey worked on the Peel Godred line before it was made electric.
Sixteen's steelworks was the same one that Hurricane and Frankie worked at. They also worked with a diesel who rambled on and on about "gold dust" and someone called "Twinkle Toes", but he was later moved elsewhere due to his rapid fuel consumption.
The Culdee Fell trucks used to be far more mean-spirited, but unlike their mainland counterparts, they quickly realized how dangerous their pranks could be. Especially after the Godred incident.
I doubt Murdoch would be the type to get in arguments about stupid things like the names of stations
Here is my headcanon, Charlie and Billy are the wellsworth and suddery tank engines and as for the sharp Stewart engine, his name was simply "Stewart" and he works at the sir roberts estate in my head canon
I like these! :D
My headcanon billy is actually named William (William is billys og name)
And He has a less ugly and irritating livery
1:14 "Characters that don't have any substance" are one of my favorites. Like you know their concept(mostly thanks to Island Of Sodor and Sodor reading between the lines books), but you don't know much about them. It makes you to speculate about who they really were("Did Blue Tank Engine from 2 illustrations commit war crimes against Sodor?" for example). Oddly fascinating.
Awdry deadass had a self insert before it was cool LMAO
Suncole, Old King Coal and the Culdee Fell Trucks need more stories about them, genuinely don't like having so many useful characters wasted by only ever being seen or used once.
Yeah, so many characters just sitting around and waiting to be expanded upon!
I always wanted to see "Mountain Engines" adapted for the model series.
@@timesnewlogan2032 Same here.
@@jamesthomas5109 Christopher Awdry actually explained that the limited traffic and safety precautions are the reason why there weren't any other stories about them. Still, I would have LOVED to have seen "Devil's Back" in the model series!
@@timesnewlogan2032 Same here mate, shame. The Culdee Fell engines are very unique, I guess the fandom will be making more videos about them in future.
I remember when I first saw the 4 BR Engines in Percy Takes The Plunge & thinking "Wow I can't wait to see those in the episode!" 🤩 So imagine my disappointment when the show used Bill & Ben...
You can't really blame britt and tv crew since they didn't have the budget to make the models but then again...they could have just bought a couple of model toy trains from Hornby, bachmann, etc. And then they make the face mask with eyes drawn on so it would be cheaper. It may sound dumb but it's better then reusing
I a based my oc after one of them
As someone who stares into the sun 24/7, I can confirm that I see Fred and Alf throwing hands in space. I saw them take out a local planet not long ago.
10:05 Though not a Mario 64 boss, Old King Coal does appear as a boss in Banjo-Tooie (on N64 as well) in the boiler of Chuffy the Train in Glitter Gulch Mine-
Clicked on this faster then Thomas in HOTR
"TheBlueSnowplough" is DEFINITELY gonna sure 1020 has an impact!
Awdry is basically the book version of Lady
10:40 technically he also exists in CGI. And we can also assume he likely exists in the model series since Duke references his father “His Grace“ quite often
Same goes for Mr Hugh and Mrs Last, since there were figures of them made in the model series, but they were just used as background characters.
We know he exists in the model series because it's the same canon as the CGI series
Old King Coal was actually a Banjoo-Tooie boss, so not too far off there TB.
SHOOT you’re right, my classic Nintendo knowledge is faltering- 😔🤣
I still need to read the railway series ngl, I keep forgetting tho
It’s definitely worth it homie, it has a lot of substance that the TVS never had the time or resources to pick up on. I think you’ll dig it 💪
I had a big city engine take n play. I was 6 when I had it and didn’t know about the book series (despite me watching Henry sees red on my grandmas TV on UA-cam multiple times 😂) and he seemed unique to me cause I’ve never seen him in the show before
Awdry's self insert oc
Ngl, he seems hardworking!! 🤣
@@ItsTrainBoy yeah he does
Damn reverend got himself his own trainsona
Minor correction on the subject of Barry: While Barry Island is a part of the greater town of Barry in South Wales, Woodham Brothers scrapyard (colloquially Barry Scrapyard) isn't actually on the island. (Which also isn't an island. It's sort of misnomers all the way down.) Barry the planned engine likely isn't named directly after the island.
Whenever TrainBoy posts, I check it out immediately.
When I was a kid my grandpa used to call me blister because I'd show up after the work was done 😂
really makes you wonder, with the budget CGI thomas had, couldnt they have added these characters and stories
Exactly! They had a well to draw from, but it was largely ignored!
This will make me waiting at the Dr. More interesting. I still have my Fred freight car wooden railway
I personally like to believe Albert was sold to a heritage railway somewhere far away, instead of being scrapped.
The improv you BSsed for many of these as the video progress is quite funny! I'll admit I did not know about the Awdry locomotive actually existed before this. You always learn something from UA-cam.
Here's a better fact for Neil: He's apparently still around and on Sodor somewhere.
Well, he was bought by The Crovan’s Gate Mining Company, so it does seem possible.
Headcanon time: When Sir Topham Hatt talked about getting an austerity tank engine, he did. This was billy, but of course as an austerity. He was very annoying at first, but through some character development he would learn how he could benefit from being less annoying. He was also built with Wilbert, the two being very close.
Me: try to impress me
the trains at 9:32 and 12:58: exist
Me:I am impressed
3:57 The Thomas the train engine original character ever.
12:40 bro lookin like he bouta ask if I got any games on my phone
I had no idea Thomas worked with boxhill, I never had a clue that was ever brought up.
9:38 Genuinely wonder if the Ministry of Defence sent both a standard gauge and a narrow gauge engine to Sodor to help with the war effort? Just a thought.
Who knows?
@@ciarangleeson2880 Hope we find out one day.
10:48 his name sounds like onomatopoeia for when a spring flies
“Albert Regaby”
*shows a goddamn Wii Mii*
I lost it there! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fun fact: The real 47111 was scrapped in 1987 after being crashed into by a Class 104 DMU that suffered a brake failure in 1986.
2:11 They actually have names now, 87546 is Alfred and 98462 is Crovan 7:49 Green Arrow is on of Gordon’s Brothers,he an A3.
all of this is wrong
6:24 'Old Stuck Up' himself.
10:00 ironically old king coal was the name of a boss in banjo tooie who arena was inside of a steam engine boiler and he was made of coal
😱Awdry inserted himself as an engine character in one of the books
10:05 "Also sounds like a Mario 64 boss" My guy, Old King Coal is a Banjo-Tooie boss. Not mad, just disappointed.
RWS Mallard looks like Sylvester Stallone and I can’t unsee it.
So much better than all engines go
And honestly I need to buy the railway series books now but gosh dam 140 dollars on Amazon
TrainBoy can you please make a video based on the loaned engines and what their class is?
It's so weird how awdry tried to make him into a train
Awesome video trainboy
The example provided for the war department diesel is actually a petrol engine
"godred, lost a fortnite match" had me dyinggg XD
I Didn’t no that there was so many Railway series characters 👀
*Making boxhill while watching this video* 5:08
2:30 we need this guy to be introduced and more about him in the fandom too. 😊
Ministry of Defense Engine. Personally, just due to how wonderfully odd it is, I'm just going to imagine he's an Old Armored Motorail Simplex Petrol engine.
10:44 The scrap engine (the dude on the left watching his friend get chopped up) actually got featured in a Friday night Funkin mod called Thomas’ Railway Showdown which consisted of creepypastas such as Timothy the Ghost Engine and Slender Engine, Grimdark stories which include The Beast from Sodor Fallout and The Boiler Test and Memes like Thomas the Chav Engine and Tonic from the Sonic 1 rom hack called Thomas is everywhere.
The scrap engine appears in the FreePlay with his own song.
Don’t ask what the name is called because I think it would probably be self-explanatory.
Highly recommend that you check it out regardless because it is a pretty impressive mod.
fun fact: Iron Duke shouldn't be old, because He's just a replica of an existing loco
also the works diesel died
The ages don't really correspond to their actual ages, since Thomas is older than Gordon, who is basically a newborn during The Three Railway Engines.
Bloomer is one of my favorites 4:54
7:41 didn’t Scotsman make it on screen in tenders for Henry and the great race?
Alaric’s personality is very reminiscent of my own. Only fitting since we share a name lol. Can confirm that we’re boring
Nah you’re the better half, also Alaric is a fire name so be proud bro 🤣💪
9:06 Lol, would love to see a fan story with these guys.
The same could be said about just about every named truck in the franchise. I think that they would make pretty decent henchmen for S.C.Ruffey.
The Works Diesel is the very diesel that rescued James, in the final chapter of James and the Diesel Engines. That's laughably wrong, since Bear would've been given some development and be the very engine to make James end his hatred for diesels for good.
You took the words right out of my mouth!
Wait... YOU POSTED THIS VIDEO ON MY BIRTHDAY!?!?!?!?!?! Wow.
Why are these so interesting?
Old king coal was a boss in banjo tooie
I love how in the fandom people adapt these characters in their own story
3:58 what book is that?
Wilbert awdrys trainsona 3:58
My favorites were always Bear & Barry I'd like a model of both but can't afford them :/
11:47 didnt they add stephensons Rocket into cgi off top of my head
Why does 7:29 - 7:32 kill me
I don't play fortnite at all
Funny thing: There isn't a Mario 64 boss called Old King Coal, but there is a Banjo-Tooie boss by that name - the second boss, to be exact.
Awdry got that trainsona
I remember having a wooden railway d199 instead of d261 as a kid. Always confused about him until I read the books
You couldn't mention that Captain Baxter was in The Muppets Europe's Most Wanted?
The virgin Jock:
- faces no real setbacks
- is depicted as perfect in every way
- barely appears in more than one story
- shares a name with a type of men's underwear
The chad Lord Harry/Patrick
- becomes disgraced, then rebuilds his glory
- is an intentionally flawed character
- has two stories in which he is a central character
- shares a name with a man whose life he saved
(I'm joking, of course. I don't hate Jock, I just think he's a bit overrated.)
To be quite honest, I REALLY wished some of these were televised because they’re so interesting!!!
You are not the only one!
0:37-0:41 my dude left out *JAMES* and he’s right fucking there with his homies!
James died in the gordon goes foreign remember?
13:05 judging by the image you used (if it wasn't just a filler image) makes me wonder if Charlie and Billy could be from this railway...
Oh god, they worked together on the same railway, no wonder why they were sent to Topham's railway instead.
Awdry has oc’s
I find that funny and cute
I mean; all of Thomas TECHNICALLY is his OC 🤣
There's so many interesting RWS characters that never made it to the TVS. Truly a shame I would've loved to have seen characters like Jock, Frank, Wilbert etc.
Cmon
Fred Pelhay
You just gotta love em
The Culdee Fell’s Back faces shoulda been their own character
according to the wiki it saids that the W&S Engines were Two Manning Wardle Tank Engines and a Sharp Steward Tank Engine that was rebuilt into a tender engine
Yeah, most fans like to think that the two Manning Wardle tank engines were Billy and Charlie. A clever way to fit some TVS characters into the RWS, if you ask me.
@@ciarangleeson2880 indeed, in my au. Billy and Charlie are the wellsworth and suddenly tank engines. And also the sharp stewart engine is probably underrated since in almost every version of the W&S fans make, he usually gets replaced
@@ciarangleeson2880 also apperantly there is a fourth engine of the W&S however its basis is unkown
Any suggestions on what it should be?
@@ciarangleeson2880 A LBSC A1 Terrier?
Nice
It was said there was 4 W&SR engines in the iOS book, we only know the classes of three of them 2 Manning wardle tanks, and a sharp stuart 0-6-0
LNER #1020 is going to be the main antagonist of a TTTE horror short film by the UA-camr BlueSnowPlow. Its part of his tailspin horror series which is quite something else.
Talk about a BANGER series, I’m so hyped for the new part this month 👀
It comes out next week. Can’t wait
Stephensons rocket is in RWS and CGI
Iron Duke is the RWS universes God of Destruction.
I think Flying Scotsman, Bear and Spamcan would fit perfectly for Series 3 (1992) and The Mountain Engines would fit perfectly for Series 4 (1995).
I think it's funny how Wilbert has three self-inserts in The Railway Series.
You did a lil goofy at 11:24 lol
Ah shoot you’re right, thank you homie 🤣🙏
Np lol
Cool
Stevenson’s rocket is in the cgi series-
I count it as two different takes on the same engine, that ain’t Stephen when you look at it lol
Does the Stephenson's Rocket still count thou since we got Stephen
I mean TECHNICALLY since they’re separate takes on the character?
I had the same thought with The Earl too but since they’re more ‘in their own league’ or completely different entities I would myself haha 😅
i wish you could like the first line of a video description
4:12 Barry looks do much better as a tender engine.
Do you get to be a knight if you design a locomotive in Britain?
Even as a kid I wished Jinty and Pug were featured in Thomas and the special letter. They could've literally taken Thomas and Percy, painted them black and made new faces.
You do realise that they would have had to appear in the same scenes as them, right?
@@ciarangleeson2880 they could’ve used Percy’s season 1 model and Thomas’ pilot model
Okay, fair point. Gordon’s pilot model could also have been used for The Flying Scotsman in Tender Engines.
@@camoshunthetankengine1Thomas' pilot model was scrapped though
