Black Water, Long Train Running, Minute by Minute, Taking it to the Streets - the bench is deep and funky as hell!
Don't forget China Grove!
Early Doobies (here) were fronted by Tom Johnston. When he became very ill, Michael McDonald (an accomplished R&B singer) stepped in changed their sound. Both eras produced quality songs, but most people prefer one iteration over the other. Team Tom here, but massive respect for Michael.
And don’t forget Pat Simmons. Black Water is maybe my favorite DB song.
I like both equally. Kind of apples n oranges
Tom Johnston !! 100 %
Yes. Johnston era was best.
Whether fronted by Tom Johnston or by Michael McDonald, The Doobie Brothers rock it. Good choice. :)
The Doobies are the Doobies with Tom Johnson, not McDonald, in my opinion....
So many hits by this super group and this is one of their earliest. A couple of other songs by the Doobies worth listening to are "Black Water" and What a Fool Believes. They rules the 70's.
They did Fool a few days ago
Add to that Long Train Running for the killer harmonica solo!
rockin down the highway, im a truck driver thats one of my favorite tunes to crank in the truck
@@andrewdonohue1853 Mine too! Second is Black Water.
One of the best feel good, very good song.
Black Water is worth a listen.
Could not agree more with the suggestion Jesus is Just Allright with Me, you two will love it. A song with a reggae feel Mamaloi is also very good.
you're not wrong Michelle... tis a great feel good song from a great era
Both of those songs are from the Toulouse Street album, which is simply great! "Rocking Down the Highway" and "Toulouse Street" are also excellent songs from that album.
Man…you guys really are hitting it out of the park with these choices. Thank you
Saw them one summer at Maryhill Winery Amphitheater in Goldendale, WA with the magnificent Columbia River as a backdrop. This was the encore. I knew it would be, and boy was it magnificent. Tears of joy when they played it for this 60 year old guy.
Doobies were masters of blending elements of Country, Soul, Funk & Rock
Man, this song is a vibe! One of my favorites!
The Doobie Brothers iconic folk rock R&B band. Tom : Listen to the Music, A little Taste of Love, China Grove, Black Water, Take me in your Arms rock n roll by then 1975. Michael: Takin it to the streets, Minute by Minute, my favorite Real Love.
For some Doobie bangers........China Grove and/or Long Train Runnin', are the ticket.
Saw then live in 1975 at Long Beach Arena. Center section up front. They were amazing and we were all partying!!!! 2 1/2 hours of jams!! Peace & Love!
We love you also. Enjoy the Doobie Brothers. They have a sound that'll take you to another place so easily ❤
I love anything Doobie Brothers.
R&B, pop, soft rock
That brother on the bass...Rock'n it
Very few people mention that bass when reacting to this song but it grabs my attention every time.
one of my favourite bands
Another classic 70s band with longevity...luv their stuff!
No lip syncing. No auto tune. True to their craft.
Such a happy song. Love their music.
The Doobies were all about the music - consummate professionals. They could settle into a groove and go forever.
One of the best bands I've ever heard live the harmonies are off the charts great!
It warms my heart to see people enjoying music from back in the day
Love the Doobie Brothers, one of the most popular groups of my generation especially our Senior year.
South City Midnight Lady, Another Park Another Sunday and Blackwater are some of my favorite songs. Plus so many many more.
I absolutely can't believe nobody has reacted to this song this song will melt your heart it is so good and has this ending is just so killer you will not regret reacting to this song I promise you
You are getting just a taste of my era of music and what us kids listened to in the 70's.....Whatcha think? I think you two would have enjoyed the 70's. The 70's were a really great time to be a teen..I still listen to the Doobies and rock out in my car. Just saw them at Wheatland Amphitheatre, California Oct. 2021...It was an amazing outdoor concert..Really enjoy the two of you and your reactions..
God bless these hippy tunes. Just spreading love and peace.
I was a kid when this came out. Like 10. These guys were sooo damn good. Y'all gots to hear *Jesus Is Just Alright With Me*
That cross fade and phasing you heard was one the the unique things in this song.
The effect you're talking about is tape flanging. Not phasing.
Taking it to the streets live in concert a must!
Also, Take me in your arms, Black Water, Jesus is just alright (older Doobies)
I ❤ this song it reminds me of my dad. Yes music is a universal language that can always bring people together no matter where you come from.
I AM GLAD TO HAVE GROWN UP WITH THIS MUSIC OF THE 70"s!!!!!!!
Doobies, along with Eagles, have the best damn cruzin' music ever! Great reaction ya'll! God bless.
Check out their song "Black Water" you will enjoy it!
Was lucky to see them in concert in New Orleans at the Super Dome. Van Halen opened, then the Doobie Brothers and finally The Rolling Stones. One of my favorite live concerts.
One of my favorites from The Doobies,,,,💥💥💥👍😎
Yes a good vibe song forever an ever....
Great reaction!! Thank you! Huge catalog of music. I would suggest China Grove!
Happy good vibes! Please note this is older Doobies with Tom Johnston on lead vocals. Then Michael McDonald took over from 1975. The song you loved, What a fool believes is Michael McDonald on lead vocals. Their sound changed from 1975. Older Doobies had a stronger rock sound
The Doobie Brothers are so much fun to listen to.
True. This was the '70s.Vietnam War, Civil Rights Era, etc. Being positive and everyone got along.
' Long Train Running ' is a must next from them ❤
Gladys Knight and the Pips
Midnight Train To Georgia
Midnight Special Performance.
**Whoever is on drums and bass is so sticky....it's makes all of them smile.
Jesus Is Alright is another fabulous song.
Best thing about Doobie Brothers is they have their own UA-cam channel and through Covid they post zoom performances from their own homes. Best song- Black Water.
In order, "China Grove" then "Black Water" then "Taking it to the Streets" is the mind blowing Doobie Brothers versatility tour.
DOOBIE BROTHERS, "LISTEN TO THE MUSIC", Tom Johnston LEAD SINGER & GUITAREST.. EARLY 70'S DOOBIES WERE AT THEIR BEST. MORE.. "JESUS IS JUST ALRIGHT", "LONG TRAIN RUNNIN", "CHINA GROVE"...
These guys could always fix your mood. Didn't matter what the song was. The music the harmony. It would bring you around for sure. You need to check out their song Black Water. I can remember sitting in the dark with a "beverage" and listening to that on a loop lol. A lot of great tunes from these guys. Enjoy!!!
Love the Doobie Brothers- old & new you can’t go wrong. 🎶 💗
Great song. Takes me back to 1972 when I saw the Doobies Brothers for the first time. It was a great night as the other band performing that night was another new band that had some success, Steely Dan.
Great uplifting music. Love it.
The guy singing is Tom Johnston, his main musical influence is James Brown, this cat is funkified, check out Ukiah and the Captain and Me
And it's like that now, the music carries the new of nations, and the the hopes and dreams of the people, and the spirit of love....listen.
I miss the 70's. Good music, good vibes. The days when ugly men could be rock stars because of nothing more than raw talent.
Pick one babies...they all good 😘😘😘😘
I did my first 130 mph in 1970 road runner light to light to this in the 78 year of change
I'm gonna age myself, but I remember them appearing on an episode of the sitcom What's Happening in the late 70's
It's not a day without my doobies. 💯✌❤❤❤
This is the version of the Doobie's I saw at Carnegie Hall around 1973, when Chona Grove had just been released. Amazing performance! This is my all-time favorite song of theirs.
Doobies are brilliant, they are still touring even now
They can still do these songs live just as good!
So many great hits! China Groove, and Jesus is just alright are y favorites.
Through you guys, I vicarioulsy re-live hearing this song for the first time in '72 when I was 20 years old. Magic.
My favorite song of theirs. Love that you both love it, too.
This is a song that will always put me in a good mood. Can't be in a bad mood and listen to this song.
I have seen the Doobies three times....fantastic live band all around
It was great being a teen in the 70s. Everybody did their own thing. No judgments like today.
Really amazing version of this on The Midnight Special with Jesus is Just Alright!
My favorite Asia and B.j . Cool from louisville.ky great song great voice
IMO, this is the "anthem" of this incredible group!! It just feels so good...Please check out their current cover of this classic, 2020-21, during the pandemic. They did it virtually from their homes now in their 60s and 70s years of age. Acoustic sound never gets old!!
I grew up on this music! Great memories!
The Doobies originated in San Jose Ca. They do not do southern rock. The videos of the day were recorded as is. No dubbing, no lip syncing and slight of hand bullshit that is common place in your modern day "muzak" world. We didn't need to see some half-naked woman with 12 dancers and a smoke machine and auto tune. We saw hard working talent that spent years honing their craft and then taking their place among the greats. How many of your favorite singers of today could sit on a stool with just a microphone and actually SING?
Pre-Michael McDonald Doobies, but they still have a treasure trove of hits from then. Can't go wrong with either era.
You two are the best! Love the Doobies, one of my favorite bands.
China grove is one of their best!!! Rocks!! And so does - Rolling Stones - Can’t you hear me knocking!!!
Yea! More Doobies.
Favorite song by them is Cheat the Hangman!
my younger brother and all our friends back when this song was going learned to play guitar with this song.... it got played a lot
Please check out The Doobie Brothers - Nobody, you see them older reflecting the past, great band. Cheers from Finland!
The sound you were refering too BJ is a flanger which gives a "swooshing", "sweeping" noise, as if the sound is being heard through a drainpipe, frequently compared to the sound of a jet. It spits then delays one of the feeds on top of the real time feed giving that effect.
That Live clip is from The Midnight special that this studio track was over laid on . Check that one out (The Midnight special video) when you can . The Doobies were always a good show . I've had the pleasure of seeing them live 3 times . On the down side , there were 3 different line-ups for those 3 shows . The best was at the beginning of their tour for their huge hit album "Minute by Minute" . It was a theater show in NYC's now gone Palladium before the album broke huge . Great show & one of the LOUDEST I've ever been to also .
The Doobies are flat awesome! I have loved them since.....WAY back when! they have a huge list of Super Hits! Dig in guys!
As far as the video production just about all of the videos in the 70s were filmed at concerts or on tv shows that they performed on. There was no tv platform like MTV. That didn't come into existence until the eighties. The only times you could see them perform were on tv shows or in concert. We had no access to videos that we could watch anytime we wanted. In the sixties and early 70s the tv stations would all go off at midnight. You couldn't watch anything after midnight except fuzzy static on tv. There were no 24 hr broadcast stations in existence.
This is one of my favorite songs, and my fave from The Doobie Bros. Such a happy song. Doesn’t matter how crappy my day has been, this always lifts my spirit!
I just love the Doobie Brothers and I'm glad you guys are diving in deeper with them and all of their evolutions.
The next song you have got to do is Black Water.
They have great harmonies!
Love this song! Great reaction!
Love DB .Takes me to a better place where we can all get along and we'll ....just get along and appreciate simple things.
As a fellow Texan (DFW). You guys should check out a song called China Grove by the Doobies... Apparently China Grove is a town somewhere near San Antonio... I have never been there though. But it is a good song. ✌
DOOBIE BROTHERS! Listen, I’m 53 years old. I grew up listening to the Doobie Brothers. My mother was a huge fan. I remember growing up on Saturday mornings. We had to clean the apartment and she would play the Doobie brothers and I have a great memories listening to them! Love them!
Yep. They're great
This is another one that "Playing For Change" did a very good cover of...
Great soulful classic.
Out of San José, CA. These guys put on a Show! Next one should be, “What a Fool Believes”, “Jesus is Just Alright”, “Long Train Running”, “Black Water”, “China Grove”, “ Minute by Minute”, “Taking It to the Streets”, Thnx Guys!….. SanJoséBob
Yeah, I love that flanging sound on the instrumentaal part. The small faces used flanging on Itchycoo Park too. And I think Lenny Ktavirz used it on Are You Gonna Go My Way.
Awwhhh " The Doobie Brothers!" Feel good music at its finest!! I grew up listening to them come on the radio, cruising around and singing my heart out!! Your reaction brings a smile to my face seeing you all get lost in their music. This was a great song, but I've never heard a bad Doobie song!! They sounded just as good live and maybe sometimes even better!! And yes, they were singing a message of love with music!!! I think music heals the soul!! Some tunes just vibe with your soul!! These guys do it for me!! Do more Doobie please!?? "Black water!" ❤❤❤🙏🌎💯✌🎶🎤🌞👊
Doobie Brothers= straight chill music 🎶💯
Doobies are doing their 50th anniversary concert this summer with the whole lineup.
