When a drummer asked him to create a throne to prevent back pain, he decided to eliminate pressure on the spine, and build something a bit out of the ordinary. Here he shows us two types of seats (one firm, one soft, depending on preference) with springs holding the seat, which is split down the middle, making sure the drummer's tailbone rests between the two halves.

No drum shop in my city sells this. Has to be ordered online, and i can't risk knowing that it may or may not be suitable for me. But i like the fact that it's designed by a chiropractor, and the springs which prevent lumbar stress and and allows pelvic fluidity..Great idea. Now all they gotta come up with is a round version with a backrest. Then i'd be on board..

i believe gibralter makes a back rest that clamps on the tripod.

I like how it takes pressure off the tail bone, I dislike how it is bike shaped and how it is spring loaded. Both of these features lower the stability which can negatively affect your playing. If you use this throne, you will likely be choosing comfort over playing ability. Only you can make that choice, but be aware this throne isn't giving you both.

Seems like a great seat I would love to get this if it had a lower lumbar back support like the Tama First chair model which I have. Some models have back supports but you can adjust them like the Tama First chair. I like this design and will most likely get one. Maybe there’s a way to get one of these seats and add a adjustable lower back support.

Isn't this the same as the Ahead Spinal glide drum throne?

I believe Ahead licensed the tech and is a bit more bare bones.
