    I’ve seen so many of you videos that i’m starting to watch some of the older ones, and to be honest I think this is the best one. my hair is so similar to yours, it’s just medium coarse and dense, but low porosity and exactly the same colour and different curl pattern all over the head, so this video has been very helpful. thank you so much for being scienci.!!!

    Your hair is looking lovely with these products! I am loving these brand reviews. I just ordered some Inahsi products with your coupon code and I am so excited to try them. I reeeeally need a good clarifying shampoo after overdoing it with the protein (at least, I think that is what it was. I did an egg shampoo and yogurt mask and all my products have protein. My hair is looking stringy, dull, and dry. And very sad☹) Now that you say you don't rake in gel, I'm wondering if raking could be contributing to the stringy quality, because I did that on my last 2 wash days! You are a treasure trove of hair info and an absolute blessing. I am learning so much! Thank you😊

    I also use a claw clip to fix the back where it’s split weirdly during the diffusing process (not a cowlick per se)! I can’t root clip very well either! 😂 After drying I will look at the roots and see if there are any weird parts that need to be claw clipped into submission. I’ve been looking at the Flora & Curl curl cream/lotion and gel, would you say they are lightweight?

    Could you make a video on tangles and hair sticking together. My hair constantly stick together when dry, even slightly when newly brushed. And if I touch it to much in the shower after having detangled it it tangles again. I have thought about to much protein but I only have protein in my gel but I don't always use it.

    For some reason, my hair has been the opposite since the cold front hit Dallas. My hair has been more cooperative with the cold, even with glycerin. It curls more, holds its shape and there's less frizz. I honestly don't know what it is about my hair that it prefers the cold and lower dew points over the warmth and higher dew points of summer. In fact, your day two hair in this video was pretty much my day two hair all summer no matter what products I used. Crazy how different each person's hair will react to weather and products even if their hair seems similar.

    I suspect you’re not getting a really hard gel cast most of the time because of the amount of water you leave in your hair. It’s obviously working for you so this isn’t a criticism, but in my experience, the wetter my hair is when the gel goes in, the less gel cast I end up with.

      Sometimes that can be true, however I always leave my hair soaking wet and I also don't get as good as a cast with some different brands. Keeping the hair really wet keeps it moisturized and helps with clumping , especially for those with hair more on the wavy side.Im sure someone with a much curlier hair pattern doesnt have those those issues.

    You clearly have more curls just after you dried your hair!! Wów :) It's just a pity that the next morning the extra curlpattern the brand created is gone. Are you familiar with Mixed Chicks redefining foam? By applying a bit on your hair the next morning which you diffuse dry for about 20 seconds, you immediately get back the curls without stiffness or weighed down hair. Same with Nivea Curl forming spray (last one has a sulfate halfway the ingredientlist, so a no-go for CG, but while it's just forming a film ON the hair instead of IN the hair it doesn't make hair dry at all)

      Yep! I have the same exact problem. Only 4 months into modified CGM, but I can't figure it out. My hair looks so wavy/curly and defined when wet but ends up falling flat a few hours later. Except for 3a ringlets right near my face. It's frustrating! My hair is shorter right now, so I'm hoping it improves over time as it grows out, or with the right product combo. Stay glue gel from Cantu works the best for a hard hold for me, but I don't love how crunchy/stringy it leaves my hair. Giving LUS a try currently and love it while wet/damp, and I'm left with big soft waves once it dries, with no crunch.

    • @shayelea
      @shayelea 4 роки тому +3

      Hey lady! I took a look at a couple of your videos and I notice you are using the Aussie Moist line. Unfortunately, most of the Aussie line contains “cones,” or silicone-based ingredients. Silicones form a barrier around the hair shaft and prevent moisture from getting inside. They also can build up on your hair and weigh it down if you’re not using a clarifying shampoo (usually a sulfate shampoo). Most of us prefer not to use sulfate shampoos since they dry out our hair. I suspect you have heard this, as I saw you were co-washing - unfortunately if you co-wash with a silicone-containing product, the “cones” will quickly make your hair stringy, limp, dry, or otherwise disappointing. The thing to keep in mind is that it won’t always say “silicone” or “dimethicone” - for instance, cyclopentasiloxane is a cone that is in most of the Aussie products. You can find out if any ingredient is a cone by Googling it.
      The Fructis Curl Treat line is all silicone-free (although none of the other Fructis products are), as are the Aussie Max Freeze gel, the Aussie Miracle Curls refresher, and the Aussie headstrong volume mousse. Other drugstore-priced products that are cone-free are the Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk line (though again, not all Not Your Mother’s products are safe), and most of the Love Beauty Planet shampoos and conditioners. If you have a Trader Joe’s near you, their Tea Tree Tingle shampoo and conditioner is amazing and cheap. Between those you should be able to find some affordable products that work for you!
      I’d recommend that before you co-wash again, you do get one of the sulfate-free shampoos mentioned above and cleanse your hair a few times to get rid of the silicone build-up. Alternatively you could use a sulfate shampoo one last time. After that you should be good to co-wash most of the time, but do use the sulfate-free shampoo if you notice your hair starting to revert backwards.
      What styling products will work will probably take some trial and error. I’d recommend starting with layering a gel on top of a curl cream or leave-in and see where it goes from there. Good luck!

    • @curlsofa2017
      @curlsofa2017 4 роки тому +2

      Sharon Peckham it’s only problematic if the dew points are too high or too low. At the right dew points glycerin is amazing for hydrating and plumping up the hair. Not everyone has a problem with glycerin even in low/high dew points, it depends on the hair. I tend to choose glycerin-free products during very high and very low dew points, but in between I want ALL THE GLYCERIN!! 😂

    • @shayelea
      @shayelea 4 роки тому +4

      Yeah my hair hates anything without glycerin, so unfortunately there’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. I do agree that it is frustrating if you’re trying to find something without glycerin, though, as it seems to be in more than half of products. I wish natural hair product companies would start marking the glycerin status on the label as clearly as they label things silicone- or sulfate-free. It would save a lot of people time and eye strain trying to read the tiny print on ingredients lists.
