This was PERFECT to get that R sound. I would have to say it is my nemesis and I over thought it way too much! Thank you

I'm glad for this lesson. When I first started learning French, after sounding like I had a hairball for a while, I learned to pronounce the R. The only problem is, when talking to a Québecois friend, I could hear a difference. I discovered that I'd been pronouncing R Parisian style: the uvular trill. Now I have to break that habit and relearn how to do it as an alveolar trill, haha.

Hi there, this is an interesting comment, thanks. I would say that Canadian French and European French both typically use the same R sound which is the uvular trill. It's the one I am using in this video. I would associate the alveolar trill or the rolling R more to Spanish or Italian for example. However, French speakers, especially in Montreal, have a lot of wonderful different linguistic backgrounds and do occasionally use different sounding Rs such as the alveolar trill.
If you have mastered the uvular trill, great work! Stick with it! because it's the most common R sound in French speaking countries.

My goal is to speak simple but correct French. I love the softer accent in Canada. Greetings from your neighbor in Montana, USA.

It's gonna take a bit of work. When I do it, it sounds like I'm growling. LOL.
