- In this lesson I’ll explain the British English pronunciation of ‘R’ in different words. In some words the ‘R’ is sounded, but in other words the ‘r’ is silent. I’ll demonstrate the pronunciation, and will give you some sentences to practise on. To finish, you might even like to try this tongue-twister: Round the rugged rock the ragged rascal ran! www.engvid.com/how-to-pronounc...
Trust me, it gives an impression that you are actually sitting in a classroom learning something important. A Very few teachers has got the ability to create such magical environment that takes you back to your school days. Thank you for your endeavours towards teaching the world.
I feel the same :)
I agree with you, Arunava. I felt like if I were in a British school classroom sitting down in my chair taking notes while she was explaining quietly
I felt exactly the same.
You are right!
Great teacher..bravo!
Such a nice, peaceful and calm way of teaching.
And professional.
👍
Yes. She is great!
I love that way too !!
I love this lady.
Gill is patiently teaching listeners step by step and one by one the reasons of pronunciations for permanent memory. She is a great teacher.
Currently, I'm working on a project based on UKI. When I started I had difficulty understanding the British accent but with your classes, I'm not only learning how to listen but also speaking! Hugs from Brazil Gill :)
Real English, from the real person, teaching from the bottom of her heart.

It’s just British English, even tho I live in Uk as a non English speaker I just can’t speak like that it sounds uncomfortable
@@lilmanq7746 It's really a form of English I Was born and brought up in Yorkshire and I can't speak like this it's virtually impossible for me to hold a conversation like this

I love when she laughs at an American accent. It's so British.

I always do.

Excelente pronunciación del idioma inglés. Se entiende muy bien, es más fácil entenderle a esta bella señora que a muchos cantantes gringos.
Estoy de acuerdo)
I love how she shows the mouth position and repeats sounds as slowly as possible, so as to explain the right pronunciation to perfection.
I've been studying English for almost 30 years, never met such a thorough teacher before.
Thank you so much for your lessons Gill!
Wish I had found you sooner! Haha
Thanks a lot Gill

Thanx Gill it's very easy to learn it this way ❤️

-How to pronounce"r" in Spanish?
-rrrrrrrrr
Actually there're two ways of doing it, the one, you've described, is about rr sound, while a normal r is not so much roaring, though compared to English it sounds pretty much like this.
Or Indian... The rrrrr is really a tongue twister... Never to be jumped outta it lol
Have been living in Spain for 17 years and the Spaniah r and the rolling r are still a nightmare to pronounce for me. Asking for a te verde (green tea) or te rojo (red tea) in a bar is no easy task🙄

@@ciarandunne1164 things might turn tough, when English is your first language ...😁
As a native English speaker this video makes me realise just how awkward our language is and how many exceptions there are for every rule. I'm endlessly impressed by anyone who is learning it as a second language!
or as fifth language lol
What a beitifull language
Most of us don't really learn it at school. We absorb it from the popular culture which in our times is just Anglo-American culture sold abroad.
@@magicienthomas8622 i mean, of course asian languages are way different than english in structure etc, but europe (like the "westerns" you called us) is full of other languages that are also built different! For example slavic! (Not to mention that russian, Ukrainian etc Has own alphabet)
In english you can say "play, played, playing" and that's it i guess
But for example in Polish you got
"Grać, gram, grasz, gra, grają, grali, gracie, grająca, grający, grające, graliśmy, gracie, graliście, grałyście, grał, grała, grało" and much more depending on gender, plural or singular time etc! 😁
So imagine if language like that would go all around the world as well haha
British English is exotic and beautiful, wonderful in our ears; I could be listening for hours. The awkward thing, is to use the Latin alphabet to write down in English. The actual language is the spoken one, not the written one; hence there's no awkwardness in the English language.
I am a foreign person and I can understand her very well because she speaks very clearly! She is a very good teacher for not native speakers!
I love how Ms Gill teaches us pronunciation. It would be wonderful if there are more videos for phonics.
