When hubby and I decided in July 2020 that we were going to move to France, I started doing Duolingo for at least 30 minutes/day. I added watching videos with English subtitles, listening to French music, watching various UA-cam teaching videos. I was really frustrated because I speak Spanish but every time I attempted French, my Spanish would come out. But I stuck with the 30 minutes/day. In late August it happened. I was able to pull the French words out of my brain instead of Spanish. I just returned last week from 4 weeks in France. I was sooooo happy with how good I did with my French. Yes, it’s like a child. but I could typically communicate my needs and many times understand what others were saying! I was thrilled. We are moving to Pau (yes, I’m Diane’s friend!) in April!!!
Other learning techniques 1) To find books in Spanish to learn French. 2) To find books in French to learn Spanish. This way you can find parallel equivalents for both languages? Buena, suerte!!! Bonne chance!!!
Soooo...... someone with such a clear Eastern European / Slavic accent in English - immediately dropping the (in)definite articles - teaching us French phrases ... ? I love love love your bravery. Kudos.

At last! I can't believe how many videos I have watched that did not explain _Pourriez-vous répéter_ to French learners. I cannot stress how important knowing this phrase is to get someone to repeat a phrase that you heard, but could not quite understand the first time! Merci beaucoup !

Je vous remercie mille fois ! Après plus de 20ans en France, et malgré le fait que je travail ici, j'ai toujours un sacré accent anglais 😧. Je suis tellement contente de vous avoir trouvé ! Merci , merci 🤗🤗
You're an extremely helpful teacher! At some point in my French learning, I got too frustrated with pronunciation and put that on the back burner. However, now I'm at the point where I can read a write pretty good - and I can sound new words out fairly accurately - but still, my pronunciations are embarrassing. I love how you talk about the mouth shape and where the sound should be coming from because that's *so important*! For me, I really need to feel the words in my own mouth rather than just hearing them. Like, in "Il est deux heures" v "Il est douze heures". They sounded the same - but after learning the mouth shape and where the sound needs to come from/out and feeling it for myself, I get it now! Anyway - thank you so much, you're a wonderful teacher!
I’m not sure if all your videos are outside (I will soon find out as I intend to watch all of them) but it provides a sense of calm that helps relax my jaw and stick with the lesson to the end. You are a very talented teacher and I appreciate your lessons and encouragement very much! Merci beaucoup!
@Real Aiglon Haha. I guess it shouldn't. But she's teaching French, so it's a quick assumption she would be French. However, her name Nastya is clearly Russian.

These are the first words beginners get to learn. So, no need to explain their pronunciation over and over again. Thank you
