    Everyone is unhappy about the display, meanwhile there’s me using and old 1080p monitor happy as fuck that this display is brighter and more colourful than what I’m used to 😂

      @@consumertechwarehouse I’m actually downgrading from a desktop pc, but I’ve been using the old Alienware FHD monitor which is bad compared to this QHD+ 😃 in Australia at this price point I can’t find a better laptop that has better than FHD+ display

      I just realized I only read the complement and not the question. lol. That’s where my eyes are drawn towards. I plan on getting a legion 9 for review at some point. My only issue with it is that I didn’t like that the keyboard was pushed forward and the trackpad was so small. I want to give it another chance to see if I can get used to it though

    330 nits and 8gb VRAM gpu is unacceptable for a >$1k laptop in 2024. Great review though!

      Can’t disagree there. There’s so much about this laptop I really like, but the screen is a let down.

      They always do this. At one point they had the m11x (which I unfortunately got). They get so stingy with components and parts and make it look so cool on the outside.

    Not sure what Dell is thinking when it comes to the display options in their gaming laptops. No mini LED, OLED, QHD @ 240hz + or 4K options in 2024? The rest of the competition offers all the above. I could never go back after having mini LED, they need to step it up.

    Do you test the fps of games like horizon zero dawn, SOTTR, Dying light 2, GOTG and cyberpunk 2077 with the in-game benchmark test or random play?

    • @consumertechwarehouse
      @consumertechwarehouse  Місяць тому +1

      I only test with in game benchmarks. I used to test live gameplay but there are just too many variables and was worried they won’t be consistent. So I made a rule that I would only test games with benchmarks built in.

    Impressive you are that ok with this display. It must be pretty decent considering you have been using some of the best displays 2024 has to offer. Like you said though this display is unacceptable on the higher end Alienware X16 which competes with both Blade 16 and G16. The X16 is a better laptop in many ways but the weak display may be a huge problem in this price bracket.

    • @consumertechwarehouse
      @consumertechwarehouse  3 місяці тому

      Yeah that’s the thing. I’ve seen some of the best displays on laptops but going back to a regular IPS display isn’t as terrible as I expect it to be. But given the choice I would obviously prefer an Oled or mini led

      I really wanted to check that out and still do. But that’s more of a creator or high end laptop. Not necessarily for gaming. So I don’t know if the thermals can handle long periods of being pushed to the max the way gaming laptops are. I would need to test that laptop to know for sure though

    would anyone recommend this laptop for music production? I use FL Studio, I own a Dell Inspiron a gaming laptop, well a really old one I got this in 2018. The CPU is terrible it s an i7 7th gen. When I make music on it the CPU spikes to 100% of it s usage stuttering the DAW (FL). If anyone can help please reply or give me any other recommendations.

    • @daspotjoel
      @daspotjoel Місяць тому +1

      Hey man, also an FL Studio user. I owned and have produced several songs the M15 R7, with 12th gen Intel in it, and it worked flawlessly. No stutters whatsoever, with or without my ext soundcard. I'm sure this version will be even better.

    • @consumertechwarehouse
      @consumertechwarehouse  Місяць тому +1

      I’ve never used FL Studio. I just produce for fun so don’t dabble outside GarageBand. Maybe someday I’ll check out FL Studio. But looking at some of my benchmarks from the intel 12th generation the new intel core ultra should do great. Similar performance if not better but with half the power needed to do the same task.

    I had to decide between the m16 r1 or r2. I really don't like the new design of the m16. It looks like a normal 500$ business laptop with and alienhead glued on.
    And i really dislike the new focus on small/slim laptop with medium power. AW is too expensive (also the r2) for a medium spec as the top range. This makes no sense to me.
    When i want gaming laptop i want power. When i want a normal looking business laptop i buy one.
    edit: so of course i bought a m16 r1 13900hx 4080 xD

    It seems like the Asus G16 is a better laptop overall. This thing needs a better display.

    • @consumertechwarehouse
      @consumertechwarehouse  3 місяці тому +1

      100%. Only issue with the 4070 g16 is the temps and fan noise. But it’s much thinner and lighter.

    • @crazyelf1
      @crazyelf1 3 місяці тому

      @@consumertechwarehouse Yep - the Asus G16 is more of an Alienware X16 rival. Another consideration is that the G16 has better speakers.
      Overall, I'd say Dell and its Alienware brand needs to step up its game.
      The other big company that needs to step up is Intel - the issue is that none of these laptops are anywhere near as efficient as the Apple M3 series of products.

      It's pretty clear that Alienware M series is trying to give you the most performance for the dollar. Razer going for premium buyer because they are basically the most expensive in every category. Alienware used to be aiming for that premium category but has shifted to more mainstream approach over the years.

    the m16 is absolutely garbage, had it for 4 months and i lost count of how many blue screens and stuttering i got, they put the airflow angling at my mousehand blasting it with hot air and giving my right finger a rash, also 300 nits is not enough, i had to turn on my lights during the daytime to see better quality
