You have to move up to the highest Snapdragon Elite SKU to get increased GPU clocks. And there are no Surfaces that use that SKU (the Surface Elite chip is the middle of the three Elite SKUs).. So far only the Samsung laptop has it.
@@dpodjasek Yea I’ve seen, just doesn’t make sense to me. Why give the base model the same gpu performance? They could lower the price even more and get even more competitive with Apple. Feel like they have way too many sku’s are screwing over consumers who want certain devices with certain chips.
and there isnt much in the cpu benchmarks either. The only thing i would question how the LCD compares to the OLED. On the video the Plus screen appears to have a warmer colour

good review, really helped with my purchase decision! One comment regarding the production quality of your video: It is high with the exception of the mic - if you avoid touching it or manage to clip it in a way to avoid the rustling sound it will be even better!
I’m not the fan of having to buy the keyboard as an attachment so I’d definitely suggest a surface laptop or something similar with the same chip. If this is a must device and you plan on keeping it for years to come. The. I would say the keyboard is a must.
one thing i notice, the OLEDd screens white tones are yellowish compare to the LCD screen. Usually the Oled is overall also darker and needs more brightness adjustment compared to the LCD. I I recon it must be QLED.
They both started at 100% and although I plugged the charger in for those specific tests, i unplugged them right after. At the end They were both at the around 85% left after about 2 hours of testing. I'll ensure I include the battery life next time. Thank you!

What an excellent video 89 subscribers or not. As of right now I haven't seen any other video like this. It seems like this could be a good laptop to use the but overall it doesn't seem like any Snapdragon processor laptop should be anyone's main laptop for now
That is my initial thoughts as of now, I am going to try to get a more in depth testing with the 16gb vs the 32gb to see if they can handle a workflow, but no adobe products really hurts the device.
@@trevorhanson3489 I have the 32gb surface Laptop and Lightroom classic which isn't supported works ok. There bugs and sometimes the laptop can't handle it. My keyboard stopped working a few times and had to restart. I believe driver updates can help though

They both have fans, idk if they are the same size but they both sounded about the same when they did kick in. They are very subtle in the noise they produce.

Trevor Hanson, your recording brightness in really bright. Bring your recording brightness down a bit. Your skin is nearly blown out in terms of hi-lights. Also, why are we seeing severe interlacing? Barring that, thank you for the review. Just purchase the X-Elite.
Best performance, but I did a fresh restart on these after I made the switch and it may have reset, the new tests coming out soon will guarantee to be in best performance
I don't see any vents on the back, ventilation is around the edges, and fans rarely ran while the tests were going. I would say it does not affect the performance, but I will stand them up on the next tests on the 32gb vs the 16gb.
@@trevorhanson3489 I've seen other times that the verticality of the Surface form factor actually allows for more airflow to cooldown the back of the Surface. Similar to what Asus used to do with the ergo lift thing where the keyboard raises a bit, but more, as it's completely standing/vertical. If otherwise it's flat on the surface of the table, most of the heat will escape through the fans/vents but some will stay there longer. The difference is probably negligible, as you said. But it would be an interesting test. Thanks!
I can't find the saphire or black for xplus 256gb. Or do certain colours come with different configuration. I only see surface pro 11 xplus with 16gb ram 256gb SSD with platinum why not saphire black or dune. Or Microsoft made the xplus with 256 GB only platinum. Also the SSD you are using for the devices compared is it 256 or 512
They are both 512gb, I just received my 32gb version and it has 1tb of ssd and is platinum. I’m guessing only certain trims have certain specs, as to why, I cannot answer that.
Yes, I didn’t want to waste the viewers time on webcams that were the exact same, if they were different I would’ve shown them as that would be a big factor to me as well on which device I should choose.

Do you know which laptop was being used during that? I didn’t notice a difference, during benchmarks they all seemed to be around the same temp. The fans never ran during normal use unless it was video rendering and that’s only because nothing is optimized for it yet.
The primary difference lies in the OLED display versus the LCD, but throughout the entire video, you focus on looking at the screens individually rather than placing them side by side. This prevents us from properly comparing the quality of the two displays.
I agree, the hard part is sometimes the camera doesn’t do the screen justice so it’s hard to really depict what’s going on besides seeing the color difference. I will try to see if there’s a better way of displaying those, thanks!
Well looking at their release channel version 4.2.0 is the only arm version for windows at the moment and it is in Alpha. But I can definitely test it and see how it goes.
tbh, oled is great but i've never considered it a deal breaker as most of my content is watched on my phone. I could see it being an issue for people that would actually utilize the screen.
Seems I found new small channel with good content. I like your comparsion side by side and plugged/unplugged. From what I heard about Snapdragon X,. Plus version is plenty for me, it is mre powerfull than my daily driver Macbook Pro, and even desktop gaming PC with 5800x3D. But I cant fully utilize even just 4yrs old base M1 :D I liked MacOS, but I realy like Windows 11 too, most time I spend on web and Office suite with some dev tools, so Windows is little bit better for me. I really considering switch from Mac to some Snapdragon X powered PC. Both surfaces and Yoga 7x are in my final list from I will choose. I like Surface Pro Form factor, but shortest battery live. Yoga x is not best build as Surface, but it is really "cheap" with great 3k OLED, haptic touchpad is really missing.. But now there is cashback for Yoga 32G/1000 model announced as in my country it will come to market in three weeks. I preoredered Yoga with 32GB RAM, cashback will reduce price to base version price.

Uh yea, that is the mic picking it up, I have a new mic coming in to address some of the audio issues I have been encountering, so if not the next video, the video after should have those issues fixed.
It does have a fan but you rarely notice it until you give it an intense workload. Device resolve exporting is the only time I’ve ever really heard it and that could be because the app isn’t optimized for it yet.

Sadly this won’t make anyone rush out to buy them at these prices with this performance and compatibility issues that still need to be resolved. And if they don’t exactly sell a ton of them, then developers won’t rush out to support them so it only makes the transition much slower. It’s clear today apple M much better if you care about bang for buck at higher performance and better package ( screen, battery, etc)
I agree, there had to be a rush for compatability since it was apple. MacOS is king in terms of productivity and if you don't have apps for it then you may lose money to a competitor that does make something that is compatable. I think this is a great step for windows laptops though, hopefully gives Apple more competition so that they also push to give us (the consumer) more performance. It'll be a win for everyone.
I've watched about ten hours of video reviews on the newly released Snapdragon offerings. Broad and in-depth HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and Samsung reviews. I'll cut right to the chase. These laptops in no way match the marketing expectations and frankly, are a complete bust. For the same or less money you can buy better configured Intel/AMD/Apple laptop systems that will perform flawlessly without the emulation and compatibility problems. Best advice I've ever read regarding the purchase of a new laptop is, "Buy the system for what it can do now, not what the venders promise it may do tomorrow". Personally, I'll wait for the new AMD Zen 5 or the Intel Lunar Lake chipsets before making a major purchase. We should see those systems become available in the 3rd quarter of this year and there is every reason to believe they will deliver a much higher performance and compatibility expectation. I suspect that the Qualcomm Snapdragon systems will ultimately rank as the most over hyped laptop computers ever made.
I am in an agreeance on most of this, I feel like they had to push something of an arm chip to get their foot in the door. As of now they can't compete but perhaps in the near future they can provide some sort of arm competition with apple and give the consumers more options.
@@wheezel55, Yes. The battery life on these ARM based systems is very good and definitely superior to what you'll get in most Intel/AMD solutions. They are also very good in terms of performance when running many general purpose productivity applications. My disappointment, expressed in my earlier comment, was based on the reality of the system versus the marketing hype. To be clear, these new Snapdragon systems are, in fact, very good at what they do, but you need to be clear on the limitations and, in my humble opinion, the manufacturers should have been clear on those limitations from day one.
@@wheezel55 Well from my testing, (currently working on my full 2 week review) it has been amazing, I would say that it is about on part with the macbook air equivalent, but you also have to notice that the surface pro 11 doesn't have the same size as an actual laptop variants of the chip.
No difference in gpu clocks was all i needed to hear. I definitely won't regret my X plus.

Hmm, yea I think the surface is seen differently, even in adobe creative cloud is was recommending me to install the mobile version of certain apps.

You’ll really enjoy it as it is quite good a cpu focused tasks and the battery life is great for a windows machine.

you can get the same geekbench score of plugged in with battery if you set power mode to high performance.

Uh after about two hours of testing the oled was at 84%, and the led was at 85%. I don’t think it’s that noticeable.

I don't think it's necessarily yelllow while using it, it is that noticable when sitting beside an oled screen
there is audio garbling/garbage, coming in at random times, literally sounds like someone is eating chips/packet crinkles.

To be clear, these new Snapdragon systems are, in fact, very good at what they do, but you need to be clear on the limitations and, in my humble opinion, the manufacturers should have been clear on those limitations from day one.
@@wheezel55 Well from my testing, (currently working on my full 2 week review) it has been amazing, I would say that it is about on part with the macbook air equivalent, but you also have to notice that the surface pro 11 doesn't have the same size as an actual laptop variants of the chip.
