base model trucks are the best, with the only necessary equipment, nothing about huge screens and lots of electronic shit, and most importantly, manual transfer case. Beautiful truck, congrats.
I love my G56. The only bad thing is the clutch. It won’t handle much more than +50hp in mods. My South Bend clutch has over 150k miles on it and it still holds 1000 torque like the day I installed it.
I am buying a 2018 2500 with a G56, with upgraded clutch rated at 800 hp and 1200 lbs. Its also studded and deleted. on 37 in falken A/T and 5 in lift. cant wait.
Same here as of recent.. My GM Canyon feels as if it is getting smaller an' smaller the more my kids grow, and on top of that, this truck is in need of some issues fixed and not even 43,000 on the clock..

I have a 2014 2500 with the manual and 503,000 miles on it. I love it, but just so everyone knows you loose about 200 lbs of torque, fuel mileage is about the same as an auto, and the manual is more expensive to replace. 2018 is the last year manual will even be an option. I'm buying a new 18 and it will be an automatic this time, I just hope it will last close to 500,000 miles like my manual did.

I bought a new one it had 30 miles a month ago, but I've put about 20,000 miles on it and still trying to get use to an automatic. I will probably end up driving it and hire someone to drive the automatic.
That’s a ton of miles on a g56. My 2018 barely made it to 60,000 before the first gear synchronizer sh*t the bed and grenaded the whole tranny. Dealership tried to pin it on my tune and triple disc valair clutch. However even if ram would have agreed to cover it (everything is pointing to the factory preload and head spacing incorrectly set) there are zero G-56 spare transmissions in the entire mopar inventory since Getrag stopped making them and parts for it 3 years ago
I just bought a new Duramax and still think nothing sounds better than a Cummins- love that growl. I had a 1997 F350 with a ZF5 before my GMC; the “mansmission” got old after a while- I like having the full center console.

My one regret when I bought my 2017, I didnt go with the 6-speed. If I had the chance to trade into one I likely will, they stopped making the manual with the next gen trucks.
man that’s a sweet ass truck🤪. 1-reason I won’t buy a brand new truck is because of the DPF system= slow death on all Diesel engines. You know it’s bad when they remove all the good stuff out of Engine oil for newer diesels because the manufactures would rather protect their DPF systems that are far more expensive than the engine. good oil with all the additive packages screws up their DPF system. engineers know the DPF system is slow death on the engine. but it’s cheaper to sacrifice the engine. you can remove it but if you got popped or live in a inspection state you’re screwed. that’s why I decided to do a complete rebuild/restoration on a ram 12 valve instead and saved myself 40k. don’t get me wrong The new trucks are pretty sweet. and i wish the EPA didn’t destroy the diesel otherwise I would’ve bought a new truck.
in the cluster can you still see the trans temp? i know yours in deleted but i might be picking up this exact truck monday. found out it was a manual and couldnt hold back. lol
It's more clunky than the nv5600. The NV has quicker smoother shifts and would be a better racing transmission. The G56 is a nice strong trans also, I just miss the smoothness of my NV5600. I think big benefit of the G56 vs nv5600 is reverse location on the shift pattern.
I really like that truck but what I don't like is those manual vehicles, automatics are better without having to move a lever every second just to drive.

If you delete it say by to the warranty. But other than that this motor is awesome. I have this exact truck but laramie and a long bed. If i were to haul cars I would go for a 4500 with the aisin auto mainly for the better rear end gears

@@omarh4694 I won't let the dealer touch my shit, I think they are easy to work on but have never had to do any major motor work to any cummins I've owned. And some of those trucks were 300k miles. As far as the aisin is concerned it is only available on 3500 4500 and 5500 trucks, and the only option on a 4500 and 5500. It is by far the superior auto trans. And even dodge talks about hp and tq, all those numbers are only on aisin equipped trucks

John Pal I left the filter in but put a breather on it and capped the turbo side. Never had an issue. No leaking, no smells, nothing.

I'm averaging 19-20 on the highway, 16-17 in town. I've gained about 3mpg from stock overall, even with the 35s.

Just swap a manual in. I did it in my 2018 when I killed the first automatic that was in it. The swap is easier than you think
What muffler are you running? Left my stock cat in the downpipe for noise control, but when I decide to get rid of it, I'd like a nice muffler.

I usually start in 2nd (down and left) unless I’m towing or pulling out uphill. First gear redlines at 7mph.

omar hamaad the zf-8 is only on the half ton trucks. You can recognize them by the turn dial transmission to put it in gear.
What size is the radio and do you have Bluetooth on it? Gonna order a 2018 and trying to find what all i want

Paul Monde First gear is really low. It redlines at 7mph. It’s good for getting a load rolling, but not necessary for daily driving.
