    Just bought mine satin black, and it IS fun to ride. I'm getting the rack made specifically for this bike, I'm also making a bike seat lock so the seat can't be stolen. I had been looking for a nice street cruising bike got online so many bikes, but I was also finding that many were being still made in Main Land China=MADENCHINA! I didn't want that, and I found out that these are now made in Taiwan which is fine with me as long as it wasn't made in China. Also manyofthe American made bikes were either out of my price range, or it just didn't click with me. This bike did click with me the minute I saw it. I also bought locally because my wife and I want to work with as many small businesses in our area as possible. I recommend this bike, two hand brakes, seven speeds, very nice comfortable seat, the handlebar width and position is perfect for me, not too high or too low. The bike store threw in a nice metal water bottle holder, and a free tune up with in the first year, and visit the shop and get tires pumped, etc etc etc. BUY LOCAL, BY AMERICAN or non MADENCHINA! HAPPY CYCLING FOLKS!

    This is the best on road sub 30mph bicycle to convert into an ebike. It's has an extensive triangle to fill with batteries and a controller. It looks clean when installed right. But without suspension you don't want to take it downhilling or go above 30 mph thus legal ebike. As a long range touring ebike this thing shines. The frame is strong and ridged, you can load this bike down and have enough battery room to go 100 miles per charge. I've put 7000 miles on my roll sport. I upgraded the wheels, and brakes, avid bb7s are the best for the sport. The elite has hydraulic brakes but for touring purposes I prefer cable pull discs since I do all my bicycle's maintenance. This bicycle has been my third touring bike and the best so far. I hope specialized doesn't change a thing with the frame design it's perfect.

    I got a low entry great bicycle Roll 2.0. I did have to change the front chain ring and crankset to a 170mm by 38. The bicycle comes with a 42-chain ring but with the 1x shift it is really hard on getting up the small hills. But the 38 ring made it great and I did not even have to change the chain. I ordered the Parthan Bike Cranksets,170mm Square Taper Crankset Crank Arm Set, Mountain Bike Single Speed Crankset. (Black,Size:38T) off Amazon for $34 bucks and the local bike shop put it on and tuned the gears for $20 bucks. Love it.

    Just picked up mine last week after 15 day wait on special order for under $400 OTD (2018 closeout). Just got lucky I got it for that price. I almost bite the 2020 Roll for $550 plus tax and $50 handling fee. Been enjoying it since day one and the saddle is very comfortable and easy to ride. The only thing I added was a rear rack from Specialized ($50) made to fit the Roll. This is a well built bike and I'm glad I got this. Can't go wrong on this bike.

      I got on the bike and rode it around in the Bike Shop parking lot before I decided to purchase the bike. But, to be honest I was very lucky that the bike was the right size. This particular bike was the last one the shop had and it was the only one available within 50 miles (maybe more) of my home. Usually the manufacturer's website will have bike specs and a way to match a bike to your overall height and inseam. But, in my experience, the best way to see what size bike fits correctly is to go to a bike shop and get on the bike (if it is available).

    This is the type of bike you buy to your loved ones. Only looking at it you can feel like you will ride on a cloud.
    Sometimes people need to understand that yes you can buy a $300 at Walmart but just be prepare to be sad in less than a year.
    I ride with a lot of Walmart riders around me. Long story short they are planning on buying a new bike and/or keep spending money at the bike shop to change parts and fix it.
    Bike shops charge $75 and up to set up a Walmart bike, please discount that if you buy your bike from your local bike shop. Still even after that you are getting a mediocre bike.
    The only thing you have to do on this bike is wax the chain.
    I’m learning a lot from Specialized brand in your channel. Thanks.

      You are very correct, I try not to cut down the big box store bikes And that's just because I love bikes and people and bikes but the truth is most of the time they are more trouble than they're worth. I try to help people with bicycles no matter what type of bicycle they ride but I have to shy away when people bring me a big box store bite because most of the time no matter how hard I try I just can't get those to ride correctly and there are so many problems with the manufacturing it's almost a waste of my efforts. I've spent more time messing with these cheaper big box door bikes to be unsuccessful at getting them to ride correctly. They come from the store and pretty bad shape and it takes a bicycle mechanic more time to mess with these bikes than it's really worth it. Buy a quality bike to start with and like you said wax the chain sit on the seat ride it and smile. Good point Jun boo

The gearing is most suited to comfort (not suited for steep grade climbing or speed demons). The base seat is comfortable but it could use a suspension seat post (which is available on higher trims). test rode the Roll Sport & Crossroads today (can't remember 1.0 or 2.0) - the Crossroads is lighter but the steering overly fast and twitchy almost compared to the slower-steering Roll with the wide tires. Salesguy said the geometry was the reason also. If you like really responsive steering get the crossroads - I thought it would be perfect for me with the single gear ring up front and lighter weight but I liked the feel of the Roll's steering more and its slightly more upright position.

    Would you recommend this or the sport?

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 роки тому +3

      There are a few things I like about this model as far as the simple gearing and one chain ring up front but with that being said the sport with more gears could be a good choice if you live in an area with a lot of climbing of course I always like to lean on the side of by the most expensive bike you can afford at the time because upper grades down the road cost more. This model is fantastic for the price but if you can spring for the sport go for it You can't go wrong. Good question and thank you

    How high can you jump this thing without it falling apart? It's made in China so I'm a bit scared of how much of a beating this thing could take. What do you think? Is it solid enough to hold together if I bounce this thing around?

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 роки тому +2

      Well this is a good question although this bike is not made as an urban jumper I do launch this bike off of curbs and small obstacles but it is definitely not a bike to catch big air on. The overall feel of this bike is very sturdy The frame is beefy and it has a nice fork The rims are thick with nice strong spokes and this bike is really fun to push hard in a corner and overall urban assault weapon for sure but as far as big air it is just not designed for that so I hate to put a measurement on how high you could jump this bike. This bike is more for fun and comfort I think I push this bike a little hard myself but I'm trying to test the boundaries. At 50 years old I don't try to catch big air anymore but launching off a small curb or something around town just comes natural on this bike. I always advise be careful Don't hurt yourself but have fun.

      @@TheBicycleRider thanks for that answer. I'm not looking for huge air anymore either but I'd probably bounce the thing around a bit. I had a real bad habit of stripping handlebars when I was a young guy. It made for some good crashes and provided some entertainment for the onlookers. Left me a bit paranoid about the bars on any bike I didn't put together myself.

      Okay I seem to understand your needs a bit more now. I thrash this bike around pretty hard but I am pretty light as well I'm 150 lb I do have some heavier friends that have been buying these bikes and starting to ride them harder and harder It seems like the harder you push this bike the better it feels although I have to say riding this bike easy is like a magic carpet ride. As far as stripping out handlebars they have a nice four bolt stem and so far I have not seen it falter. These bikes are built pretty heavy duty and are made for some pretty serious torque We will keep pushing these bikes harder and harder as our group of roll enthusiasts grow. If we find a problem or defect we will definitely post up but so far rock solid performance and a level of comfort that seems to make people happy is the case

    • @thelast344
      @thelast344 4 роки тому

      I've put on a mounting adapter and installed 203mm disc and avid bb7 brakes. They are the best cable pull brakes to get. So yes you will need an adapter to go from 160mm to 180mm.

      I am 5'9 in a medium fits me perfect being 510 it puts you right on the edge of medium and large Best would be to go to a local bicycle shop and ride each size and just see what feels best for you Not everybody has the same body measurements some people have a longer legs and shorter torso and others the opposite.

    Quality? What is quality? What’s your definition of quality?

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 роки тому +1

      Well after seeing many models and brands of bike come into the bicycle shop quality is defined by me as something that is built with solid components that are serviceable and a frame that is well thought through. Quality comes from manufacturers who actually care about how their bikes perform think about maintenance in the future and incorporate body geometry into the process. The specialized Roll checks all these boxes. I have seen many bikes that don't And that's why I stressed the fact that quality is incorporated into this bike.
