Trek Madone Gen 8 on a B Group ride .
many people are talking about just how fast and capable the new Trek madone gen 8 is, But how comfortable is it for a b group rider? Well, Bart slowed it down today and joined the Gulf Coast Bicycle Club On their mid-year party ride which was not a race. conclusion is that you might as well buy yourself some speed and make these rides more enjoyable because yes, this bike is very comfortable and fast. #bicycleculture #trekmadonegen8 #roadbike #fastbike #roadracer

AMIA is The manufacturer of the Santa Monica e-bike one of the reasons I will sell this out of my bike shop, Biloxi bicycle works is because they support that also means bike shops can hold the manufacturer accountable for quality. much more to come on the Santa Monica please stay tuned.

Black Friday gravel ride @biloxi Bicycle Works
The value of material things has diminished emensly. I dropped $150.00 on one of these yesterday. Excellent bike that doesn't need a motor to get up to speed.
Congrats and thanks for sharing….Mine arrives here Friday…I’m psyched!
Great information. I just bought two AIMA e-bikes yesterday. Got the Big Sur for myself and a Big Sur Sport for my wife. Bought them from a local shop that just got some in. Apparently, they are flying off the shelves. I have only ever bought bikes from local shops, because of the support issue.
Had a step father who rode a bike everywhere. He was hit by cars many times, no helmet or bike paths then. The landline rang many times from far off ERs. He died from a brain tumor. One ER doc said it could have been from many head tramas from bike accidents. Skeptical
I’m surprised there are not more out there …. I love my 5
I have this bike but blue color 2022 with Rock shox SID 35mm fork, removed DB8 brakes (it was shit and i dont liek sram brakes feeling) installed slx 7100 2 pistons and happy, braking much better. also removed default handlebars and stem and put longer stem 100mm and 760mm carbon handlebars with ESI extra chunky grips. But still have feeling that bike is slow and heavy....
The entire video I was thinking “this guy looks so familiar.” And then I realized, “it’s the guy from the bike shop in Biloxi!” It must feel bad living a place with such bad bicycle infrastructure. Have you considered leaving?
#Wicked #Wired
Do you recommend this bike like on trails with some roots? I just recently bought one and thought about changing the tires out to a bit wider. I so love this bike a lot and my second Specialized.
Can you use 45mm tires on this bike?
What? Just do the review!
Great video! I just looked at our area, the closest Canyon authorized repair center is a 3.5 hour drive. It’s incredible how many people don’t understand that if they buy the bike online they are putting their local bike shops at risk. The customer might save a few nickels up front, but they end up paying in lost time and $$$ over the life of the bike. I’d love to hear your thoughts about TREK offering consumer direct. Thanks for making this video.
Thank you for the honest review of this e-bike. Nice to see that canyon put integrated front & rear lights on this bike, because a lot of high-end e-bike companies skimp on that feature! Do you know how hard it is to pull out the battery on this bike for servicing/replacement down the road?
I feel like this bike is begging for at least an IGH if not belt as well. That derailleur sticking out looks like it could cause trouble with passengers. Neat idea though.
$14k a fucking car
Good video! We're waiting to get our two Big Surs delivered so, I know what you mean about limited availability. BTW...AIMA is pronounce EYE-mah. 😊
I’ve been riding the SL7 for 3 weeks now!! I can honestly say (I own all 3 Treks..Domane, Madone gen 6 Sl 7 and an Emonda Sl 6 Pro.) that this bike is incredible!! As fast as older Madone… as light and playful and light as the Emonda.. and as comfortable as the Domane!!!!
This is great to hear👍…my SL7 gen 8 is on it’s way
My shop says I’ll want the SLR but I’m set on the sl7 in dark star. It’s making my final decision tough. They have what I want in stock too. Afraid I’ll regret not getting the SLR but for an extra $2500 ugh.
😂 I had a TT bike $2000 I killed everyone They had a avg $7000 It’s not bike it’s ur leg 😂 They still can’t break Greg lemond record
You brought a tt bike to a road bike group? You bought speed
@@Millicente whole bike TT and TT group
@@scarface1980100 then yeah your legs were better than theirs. It’s ok though. Just like it’s ok to buy a car with 300hp even if you’re not a pro racer
@@Millicente now days every bike Beautiful and fast
calm down fred, it'll be ok
Ordered mine on Friday. Replaces crashed gen 4 Domane.
What size is this?
Hey man, so if you Had to decide between an emonda for the Rest of your life or an Madone gen 8, what would you Personally choose ? Greetings from Germany!
Good question but the answer after writing the Gen 8 is easy. I would choose the new gen 8 Madone for sure. And I am a big fan of the Emonda
@@TheBicycleRiderthanks appreciate it!!!
19lbs $6k. lol
2 Good looking bikes to be fair .
Such useless shilling
19 pounds for a 54/56cm? That’s not as light as I expected. Definitely need to get that into the 17’s. Honestly the ‘aero’ shtick the industry has been pushing is tired….98% of riders won’t notice a difference. T. Pog himself? Yes he would notice. The bike does have a distinctive look though. Glad that you’re enjoying it. Trek always makes solid bikes. Ride on. ☮️🤘🏻🚴🏻♂️
If you say they won’t notice when many people can notice the speed and the holding of that speed from an aero bike, the same can be said of weight. 300g of weight between a top frame and budget frame. A kilo? How many people need that kilo shaved? The aero will serve them better
I rode one and i also like it very much.what is the weight limitand is it good at climbing? thanks in advance.
I'd take the Gen 8 SL7, size M for my height at 5'6" (yeah, I'm short); your willpower was strong to adhere to the information embargo ... the new frame profiles would have drawn the attention of eagle-eyed, cycling aficionados. do you think there would be substantial price discounts for remaining Gen 7 models (if any are still available)?
Yes the Gen 6 will be sold at a discount. As a dealer there is very little margin already . The bike is about as low priced without your local dealer losing money. It's a great value
I like the gen 7 more
Could you please help me understand why bike shops will not be around if everyone buys a direct to consumer bike? Is the repair business not profitable at all ?
Thanks for the great review. Can you compare the new Madone's climbing ability/feel as compared to the Emonda?
As an Emonda and Aethos Rider myself. I like a climbing bike. But when you mix the aerodynamic capabilities of this new gen 8, but it's the best of both worlds despite climbs like crazy. But it's so fast on the flats .
I love the Amanda but the new gen 8 Madone climbs just as good. If not better. I would love to try the SLR model
@@TheBicycleRider ,...Very happy to hear that, as I ordered one (an SL) on Friday. Thanks for the update.
Will this bike fit a 27.5 x 2.2 wide tire? At least in the front... Thank you!
Good looking ride.
Hey man thanks a lot I was looking to a review of this colorway, they didn’t had it yet in the shop here, just other colorways and I was not sure which one to get yet, apart from that I am very confused because I can get for the same price a new emonda SLR 7 AXS which is usually 8500 Euro at the moment, of which I like the colorway as well ( black prismatic) So I am choosing in between a Madone SL 6 gen8 ( I would add up aero bar n aero wheels n a axs from the dealer) same color as yours probably Or a emonda SLR 7 AXS black prismatic ( it’s not in the shop but new still with warranty etc.) For both I would pay very similar / same prices in total. What would you suggest me, I would really appreciate a neutral answer which is reliable, because I am super overwhelmed and I need experts which give me the right advice.. thank you so much, I waited long to get a proper road bike and I don’t want to make the wrong choice
It is stunning in person
@@TheBicycleRider i believe it, How would you answer my question due to a suggestion? I would appreciate, i tested a Emonda and a gen 8 Madone Today, the Emonda felt much lighter and flexible n comfortable while riding and as well moving śvery fast as Compared the gen 8 madone felt a bit more „rocky“ n less smooth and flexible. Just rode the Emonda very shortly, now i am super confused which one to Take still:)…..
Can you give me 3-4 choices for me driving on flat streets only. Something comfortable. I’m 5’6”. Old man.
Any Specialized Aethos will suits your needs amazingly
trek domane
So much can go into answering your question. First is probably budget so we know what you're willing to spend. After that it would be easier to pick a bike for you. I was saying you must be looking at drop bar road bikes other than a hybrid?
Hello, I have a question I have the choice between an madone SL 6 gen8 ( axs maybe) or a emonda SLR 7 axs As the emonda is still a great great bike and super fast and I could take the SLR instead of SL i am wondering which of those two is really the „better“ bike / choice in my case ( aero wheels and a lot of training and maybe some smaller triathlons first and next year bigger ones, for which I could actually get a extra TT bike if needed) Thank you!:)
In 2025, the Cannondale Synapse Neo Allroad will be a good competitor to this bike, as well as the Tesoro Neo Carbon, if it gets released in the US.
Yes, definitely share your thoughts about this bike.
thanks for this, very helpful
Too bad about rinsekit.
Ssshhhhhhh don't tell everyone!!! Lol one of our favorite spots.
What rear fender do you use? I have an ALR5 and I’m tired of getting my back dirty on commutes!
Thanks for comparing these two models. Might be in your area in December and will come check out your shop.
Enjoyed the comparison video. Thanks!
Great Video Bart, thanks for sharing and giving some ideas on where to ride.
I can’t wait for mine !
I am waiting for eGravel with Pinion MGU tbh. Not that it will be any cheap for me to buy one soon...
I'm sorry but I can't agree with you on ONLY buying an e-bike from a brick and mortar store. There are advantages and disadvantages to both brick and motar and online purchases. I've bought over 14 e-bikes online since 2012 and haven't had any problems getting parts exception is when covid hit the world. You do have a point on many e-bike makers though, if they dont support their e-bikes they sell that is a disaster down the road for the consumer. I just purchased the Velotric discover 2 one of the most popular commuter e-bikes being sold now. That is my two cents and I hope your business thrives without having to work on direct to consumer e-bikes. I feel you are also missing out on many opportunities by cutting out direct to consumer e-bikes but I also understand your point not fixing certain models too.
I agree with you. Painting every online brand with the same brush is both unfair and inaccurate. We've bought two Lectrics (out of Phoenix) online...had 'em well over 2 years. Mine has over 3500 miles with only upgrades done...no repairs whatsoever.
The through axle in the Santa Monica really shines
I've had this bike for 3 months now and I love it. I did 3 minor modifications. First, I reversed the stem as I felt a little too upright. Then, I switched out the grips for an ergonomic grip/bar end combo to have an extra hand position. Lastly, I switched out the tires for the Specialized S-Works Pathfinder 2bliss 44mm. Light, fast rolling with good puncture resistance. This bike flat out flies on the tarmac. Very lively acceleration. Very smooth and comfortable on gravel. Handles well on easy, flowy singletrack. Had it on cobblestone roads in St. Augustine. It dampened the bumps nicely. Also, climbs like a billy goat. Shifting and braking are quite respectable. It is a do it all bike for me these days. And IMO, a good value.
Ouch Bart
