The reason Valve made the Rainblower do reduced damage for every additional player despite the equalizer taunt doing massive damage to multiple enemies is because the rainblower taunt can be spammed whereas the equalizer taunt kills you if you use (or at least, it's supposed to).
And if you spam it with a bunch of friends like I did, you can even crash the server or your game! If you have enough people doing it, I had at least 15 people doing it at the same time sort of on a 2fort server. I crashed out and then my friend crashed out, it was hilarious and we made sure a lot of people got the mass hysteria achievement that day lol

I love that there's certain very specific cases where taunt kills are useful, like stunning an ubered player and getting after-round kills, but the taunts are so slow and easy to see coming, it doesn't break the game balance at all. It's just a fun little extra, like the Kritzkrieg's minor self-heal taunt.

for getting cl_showpos lineups, top tip is that by default if you holt left-Alt, moving your mouse will move your character instead of your aim. so you can precicely position yourself better than just using WASD

While I don’t have a clip of it, I was playing Badwater on Uncletopia as Heavy and got an air shot taunt kill on a demo who was flying behind us with the sticky jumper. Even he was shocked when it happened and it was the peak of Uncletopia for me
I love the soldier escape plan taunt, I have so many spots I've found throughout the years. One cool thing you can do with it is if you have the Lumbricus Lid cosmetic item, taunt killing with the escape plan plays a hallelujah sound effect from Worms. Doesn't really help but it's funny

Very informative video! Even though I've been messing with taunts for years and making compilations of taunt kills, I still learned some new stuff here! I think you could've also discussed how taunt attacks are affected by damage resistances. Examples: If a taunt attack is coming from a ranged weapon, a heavy with the fists of steel can survive one attack. The equalizer taunt can be survived with barely 20hp if you're on max overheal with the battalion equipped (330hp at max overheal). The buff from the battalion also makes it possible to survive the explosion once if you're close to full hp. The vaccinator can also be used to block incoming damage from non-melee attacks.
Something you don't realize about the box taunts, is that they kill *everything* within that box; go onto itemtest and spawn as many dummy bots as you want and it'll delete all of them as long as they are within that box.
Give the Ullapool caber a 30 second cool down with 350 damage, plus a 15% self blast damage resistance when active and Minicrits when airborne. As for the Taunt, make the Caber and Scottish Handshake have the Smack Taunt kill, and we are golden.
I know an amazing spot as soldier on capture the flag in doublecross First. Go to the enemy sewers as soldier (it’s better to use the rocket jumper for this) then go to the sewer bars on the wall (use the one on the right) then rocket jump on top of the grate (just crouch midair to get on there) then let go of the crouch button (make sure you are on very top of it) Then do the kamikaze taunt If you did this correctly you should be able to kill people near the front entrance (best part is if someone runs through most of the time they won’t notice you)
One of my favorite things to do as a huntsman sniper is to challenge another sniper to a ''Stab Duel''. On the count of 3 both snipers start spamming their taunt kill, the length of these duels can last from a few seconds to about a minute or longer. The entire time people nearby just hear 2 snipers saying ''Stab stab stab stab stab stab stab stab stab stab-'' while you an the other sniper stare at each other in the stun animation.
I actually tried to do this with a friend once but for some reason we couldn't get it to last more than one taunt animation as one of us would die no matter if we were both mashing the taunt button. Not sure what we're doing wrong or what.

The contracker bug can also be done by having one loadout A equipped with it, and loadout B unequipped with the contracker. Go to settings, find the "Switch to Loadout A/B/C/D" binds, bind your keys and voila. You can now switch between two loadouts, one with the contracker and one without.
Did you know, that using the taunt kill as soldier, switching to the rocket jumper mid taunt will make you invincible to the explosion, but you still damage the enemy.

I'm sure others have pointed this out by now, but because the huntsman stun is faster than the heavy pow (and I'm fairly sure it's faster even than the time between the stun and the kill from the huntsman itself), that enables two huntsman snipers to simultaneously stun each other with their taunt kills in a sort of mutually assured destruction. Also I thought I remembered hearing that the order the rainblower taunt hits players is connected to the order they joined the server, but I'm not sure.
it's possible but I don't see that patch mentioned on the wiki. Then again, the bug showcase video has people in the comments saying it was fixed, so maybe it did happen.
Also with the huntsman, you can interrupt another hunstman skewer taunt with your own skewer taunt. This can have two snipers facing each other, in the stun animation indefinitely.
you can actually do the equalizer taunt kill through certain spawn doors without even calling for medic. it's only doable through certain spawn doors (barnblitz, badwater, thunder mountain immediately come to mind), and the angle is MUCH tighter, but it's doable. also i think im going to avoid playing the sniper class in that one specific spot on borneo for a while lol
Fun fact: You do not need a bind for the contracker, you only need to press your contracker button to open then immediately close your contracker then taunt as fast as possible, I've done this trick multiple times consistantly.
altho similar in terms of technicality (hitscan, charge up time,..), the tititanfall charge rifle beam actually has width hitbox, which in turn make it cannot hit thru pixel or small gap of some size unlike the potis pow, that somehow make potis pow more powerful in a sense.
I remember back when the rocket jumper used to make the equalizer taunt do no self damage, spent a lot of time spamming that in random corners till they finally fixed it.
I think the way the rainblower taunt determines order is likely either distance, player order (order that players joined the server), or a combination of both.
I thought it would be distance too, but in testing it it didn't seem like that was the case at all, sometimes it would look like distance but sometimes it'd be seemingly random. Player join order might make sense but I've never tested that
What years of developer neglect does to a community, they find the literal smallest flaws in a map and come up with crazy ways to “abuse” them. God dammit I love this community
Huntsman stab is considered the fastest taunt kill because of the stun attack. It also interrupts enemy taunt kill, so you can save yourself from huntsman stab without uber or any other protection. So you can counter stab a sniper trying to stab you. Which also means that the sniper can counter your counter stab. And so on indefinitely.
The Pootis Pow airshot clip did occur, but in Medival Mode. Not sure if it counts tho as how predictable the degroot keep trimp can make it only a timing based instance.
Another thing about the Equalizer is that just being at near-full overheal with the Battalion's Backup equipped will give you enough health to survive the explosion. No fancy tricks needed.
You dont need any overheal to survive, just the effect of the backup is enough. Although you might die of fall damage. The taunt does 320 damage to the person doing the taunt, soldier has 220 health with battalions backup Equipped. 320 x 0.65 = 208 (the battalions damage reduction is the 0.65)
I've noticed a few things didn't get mentioned. You can spam the huntsman on someone who stunned you, this can result in both stunning each other repeatedly if timed right. The spinning disjointed hitbox can also just be flicked to do the same trick yet still be consistent (but might need some aim practice) Good video though, i did like the video as I learned new things even after playing for years. I think Valve patched the Huntsman taunt chain, I forget whether the 2nd or 3rd stab wins.
it's possible but I don't see that patch mentioned on the wiki. Then again, the bug showcase video has people in the comments saying it was fixed, so maybe it did happen.

Also with the huntsman, you can interrupt another hunstman skewer taunt with your own skewer taunt. This can have two snipers facing each other, in the stun animation indefinitely.
you can actually do the equalizer taunt kill through certain spawn doors without even calling for medic. it's only doable through certain spawn doors (barnblitz, badwater, thunder mountain immediately come to mind), and the angle is MUCH tighter, but it's doable.
also i think im going to avoid playing the sniper class in that one specific spot on borneo for a while lol
Fun fact: You do not need a bind for the contracker, you only need to press your contracker button to open then immediately close your contracker then taunt as fast as possible, I've done this trick multiple times consistantly.

The Pootis Pow is literally just the Charge Rifle from Titanfall 2
altho similar in terms of technicality (hitscan, charge up time,..), the tititanfall charge rifle beam actually has width hitbox, which in turn make it cannot hit thru pixel or small gap of some size unlike the potis pow, that somehow make potis pow more powerful in a sense.

I think the way the rainblower taunt determines order is likely either distance, player order (order that players joined the server), or a combination of both.
I thought it would be distance too, but in testing it it didn't seem like that was the case at all, sometimes it would look like distance but sometimes it'd be seemingly random. Player join order might make sense but I've never tested that

Huntsman stab is considered the fastest taunt kill because of the stun attack. It also interrupts enemy taunt kill, so you can save yourself from huntsman stab without uber or any other protection. So you can counter stab a sniper trying to stab you. Which also means that the sniper can counter your counter stab. And so on indefinitely.

Not sure if it counts tho as how predictable the degroot keep trimp can make it only a timing based instance.

you can hide your taunt with the contracker by simply opening and closing it really quickly before taunting, no special bind needed
Well the taunt I use the most is the Sniper's bows taunt, they are good in countering demoknights.

Back in Oldschool Zombie Fortress, abusing the power of the finger guns was the secret sauce to bust up turtles.
Another thing about the Equalizer is that just being at near-full overheal with the Battalion's Backup equipped will give you enough health to survive the explosion. No fancy tricks needed.
You dont need any overheal to survive, just the effect of the backup is enough. Although you might die of fall damage.
The taunt does 320 damage to the person doing the taunt, soldier has 220 health with battalions backup Equipped.
320 x 0.65 = 208 (the battalions damage reduction is the 0.65)
I've noticed a few things didn't get mentioned.
You can spam the huntsman on someone who stunned you, this can result in both stunning each other repeatedly if timed right.
The spinning disjointed hitbox can also just be flicked to do the same trick yet still be consistent (but might need some aim practice)
