    You don´t get different tail lights depending on the styleing edition. The different tail lights are because of different manufacturing dates of the car.
    Between 2002 and 2006 the lights were the older ones with separated transparent bars. Between 2006 and 2009 the transparent bars turned into one transparent middle section.
    This was for all cars.

      I've been to the showroom recently to see if there would be anything tempting me to upgrade. Felt like I was listening to a sales pitch for a Gaming PC. Everything that made these cars special is gone now and replaced with what I can only describe as the unholy lovechild of a flight-simulator video game and an upscale Chinese EV

    I would personally recommend the E320 with Gasoline+LPG GAs or a E320 CDI ( only with OM 648.961 engine) with the automatic gearbox. It's like a Tank. You can't go wrong with this version. But attention! This version only came with automatic gearbox and it never had 4matic (4x4) setup!
    If you find a E320 CDI with 4matic and or manual transmission, stay away from it.
    I managed to get over 840.000km with it before my insurance totaled it after an accident but I'm currently looking again for the E320 CDI or the E320 Gasoline version with LPG Gas injection (Best gasoline engines for the E320 are M112.949 V6 224hp and M112.954 V6 224 which is a great alternative since it came with 4matic)

      it's the shape. These cars are elegant in a way that only Bentley and Rolls Royce are in the modern era. Everything from basically every luxury brand in 2024 is battling an identity crisis as they are only luxury in name but are heavily inspired by high performance track cars which takes away from the elegance of a luxury vehicle.

    • @kristoffer3000
      @kristoffer3000 Місяць тому +4

      @@HURRlCANEVIEWS If you can get a facelift version as they fixed a lot of problems, the SBC system being a big one.
      It's quite a lot quicker than the pre-facelift 220cdi as well with a far broader torque band and it uses less fuel, an absolutely wonderful engine that pulls at any rpm.
      They're very very reliable cars so just check that everything works, check for rust in the rear wheelarches, in the framerails under the hood and the shock towers, should be easy to spot if there is anything, also check for leaks but that's the same as with every car, take the engine cover off and look around the injectors, it should be dry and not have any black smudge, aka black death.
      The gearbox should be smooth, no hard clunks and no hesitation to get into gear.
      High kilometers wouldn't scare me at all with one of them, both my w210 and w211 had 300k km's and drove like new cars and were dead nuts reliable.
      They're extremely good cars so I doubt you'll regret your decision.

    • @kristoffer3000
      @kristoffer3000 День тому

      @@bekabeka71 There are, the SBC braking system got removed and that's a major failure point on the pre-facelift ones, steering wheel is entirely different with buttons that aren't terrible, diesels got extensive changes that make them more reliable, more efficient and faster with a broader powerband, electric issues got fixed etc etc
      There's a very solid case to be made for ignoring the pre-facelift ones and only looking at facelift cars, they're that much better.

    Bought my friends 2007 e220cdi in 2019.
    It had 164,000 miles on the clock , it cost 1,300gbp.
    I ran it for three years and sold it in 2022 for 1500gbp with 194,000 miles on the clock .
    These cars are the best of the best, I used it to close my business , carry all my stock and take rubbish to the council tip, I worked it into the ground and it ran beautifully and was amazing .
    Now I've retired and moved to a small cottage in the country , it was too large for me , but 10 out of 10 , the best car you can get

    The thing with these Mercs is that you always want to go for the bigger engine. For example the difference in fuel consumption between the smallest 220CDI and 320CDI is only 0.6l more per 100KM. 320CDI is at 7.3l per 100km combined and 6.7l per 100km for the 220CDI.

    As an enthusiastic owner of a 2005 W211 E350 AvantGarde, thank you for this superb video--one of the best, even showing features of the SBC that I didn't know. These W211 cars are awesome--this is why I still drive one as the car approaches 20 years of age. At 7:54 we see one of the potential faults of the series. If over exposed to sunlight and heat (as happens here in Australia) you'll find the stitched seams at the top edge of the rear seats deteriorates and splits--and interior headlining can begin to detach from its base (fixed with discrete spiral pins which help prevent ongoing deterioration). Exterior rubber trim below the windscreen (replaced for $850Au), secondary trim underneath at the boot edges and at the base of the side windows also degrades. I therefore now garage my 350 under cover. Before the E350 I owned the brilliant W124 300E--selling it when it was age 28. The 300E had no such upholstery or rubber issues and shows that the E-Class suffered in build quality under the period of Chrysler's ownership of Daimler-Benz. BTW, loved the gutsy sound of the small turbodiesel, something I never expected :-)

      Exterior rubber trim, below the windshield, is the cowling. Use a new cutter to cut off the 1.7m long X 5mm strip of broken aged rubber on the cowling. Buy 2m length x 25mm strip of MetalSeal rubber, online, one side is self sealing for just a few dollar. Clean the glass & old cowling for oil free & dry. Then apply the sealing tape. 😂😂

    few mistakes but its okay , a few things that seem general are not actually general for example the starting ( the pulse on the key without holding that was not acctually available on classic or elegance models ) , the sbc is not actually that bad if it breaks , it will be expensive but it doesnt cut the breaks just so you know it has 2 backups 1 is your emergency brake which most likely doesnt hold which is typical mercedes also you have a mecanical break , so when the pump goes in any state of error which can be a pump failure or a cilinder /brake line failure it will disable completly and it will switch to the mecanical version which a small master cilinder pushing brake fluid in to the front wheels braking sistem and only the front with about 20% of the maximum power that the pump would of produce and that also helps a lot because its not loosing the rest of the fluid by disabling the pump because the rear wheels have some issues with pipes and they corrode and break which is common on mercedes of that era and they took that in consideration in my oppinion with only having brakes in the front as a backup ,also the trunk is not automatic is spring loaded and the latch is electronic and that was only on sedans where the estates didnt have that option nor the button on key or door but instead on estate you had soft close , also yours is smoking quiet a bit looks like injectors because its black , sbc s is not available for all of them aswell no matter the trim level i own a very well spec avantgarde with even the dynamic driver seat with the pulsing option like an old massage and well on mine sbc s doesnt actually exist was never part of the enabled features it can be enabled being only part of the module but its not by factory . also the cluster had 3 designs classic one is the one you didnt show which is like the elegance but missing the chrome accent , and you can retrofit the cls ones which are similar in design but looks way cooler and more retro , on top of that many were optionals not standard so all w211 are very different in configuration even with the same trim level from textile seats to leather seats with heating in the front and rear seats too , options for 7 seats on the estate and many many more , also the gearbox had w/s on some where on other c/s which was actually read by many comfort /sport (btw thats bs if you ever put a tester on it the gearbox only reads w/s which stands for winter and summer) also is a very slow gearbox having an open torque converter which can make all gears slip for the sake of comfort sometimes making it feel like a cvt and its kinda annoying if you hate cvt like me :)) also if you would have the 4 zone climate control you will curse your days because it goes all the way to 12 degrees celsius which means a much more expensive ac compressor and when i say much more expensive i mean 3 times the price of the 2 zone climate control to keep that in mind ..... btw i have the 4 zone climate control its not fun when the ac compressor breaks... also on the estate they have a very nice self leveling rear being on air bags well all i can say is the bags last pretty well but the compressor is a pain , its not expensive if its only the standard one but sometimes it will make you blame the bags and those are expensive , if you have the airmatic front and back then the compressor is much more expensive and so are bags in the front as they come with the shock absorber and many other details about these cars , they are great cars still decent on economy but a pain in the ass when anything breaks .

They were made like that since they were available with keyless go as extra equipment. This goes with all trim levels.

    I have a 2004 CLK500 that I bought last year (I live in Wisconsin, but bought it from California, so rust-free but peeling interior leather from the sun), and it has mostly the same features as the E Class in the video. Great car overall, but has some things I'm not entirely happy about - and they're all about dependability. It was a one owner vehicle. with a pretty good maintenance history.
    While I was driving it home (2,300 mi / 3,700 km drive in three days, which I realize is a stress in and of itself), one of the valve cover gaskets started leaking. I knew they were replaced in 2021, so must not have been a great job. Got it home, repaired at a MB dealership. Pricy!
    I was then pretty upset when my crankshaft position sensor broke at 58,.000 mi (94,000 km). I have not seen those going bad even in cheap Russian cars under 150,000 km before. Thankfully. I had other cars to drive while I was waiting for the $30 sensor and a couple of tools to arrive from Amazon. It was a pain in the butt to replace it, but I was able to do it myself (unlike the 4 and 6-cylinder engines, the V8 CPS is on the back of the block, so it was a very tight squeeze with my fat hands).
    Before I put the car away in storage last fall, my rear half-window wouldn't go down more than 3 cm (turned out to be a bad regulator), so the auto-adjust function on the driver's door window wouldn't work either... $1,000 later, the regulator was replaced and everything works fine again. Can't say I wasn't expecting stuff to break on a 20 y. o. Merc. but still... It's pretty low mileage.
    That's not to mention small but annoying things like a corroded connector to a fog light. I wasn't in the mood to order a new one, so I just hooked up the female connectors to the lightbulb and wrapped the whole thing up with electrical tape.
    After rereading this whole things, it feels like I'm lamenting the purchase. Not really! I love driving this car (I call her Monica), and the naturally aspirated 5-liter V8 sound is like music for my ears. Plus, I've always kinda wanted a convertible, but never felt like they were a great choice. With the pillarless coupe, however, I roll all the windows down, open the sunroof - and feels pretty much like a convertible without the problems that would typically bring!

    • @halvaraspegren7635
      @halvaraspegren7635 День тому

      The answer is in the question, putting any car to storage is asking for problems actually. Higher meleage is better than storage time as long as its well maintained, the cars are made to be used not stored. I understand that you might not want to drive your precious gem in wintertime, but unfortunately these things are to be expected on any brand/model when put to storage.

      Thats an odd statement since Mercedes is known for their excellent diesel engines ( all of them) and most of the gasoline engines from that era (actually the first years still had the old engines left though) are known to have problems with camshaft driving etc. M112/M113 was all good but most of the others had more issues. If you want more power and torque over a larger rpm range you need to try the diesel models.

    the button is not a tunnel mode it is to stop the air from entering the cabin and filter the dust

    • @yamafanboy
      @yamafanboy 2 дні тому

      I guess strictly speaking you are correct but you don't need to press that button to stop air from entering the cabin and filter dust. The car will do that automatically depending on the outside conditions even if the button is not pressed or the recirculation indication light on the button is not illuminated
      (you may not believe that but I guarantee you that's how it works).
      Also if you press the button and release immediately it will not activate the convenience closing/opening function of the windows/roof it will just leave the windows/roof open and cut off the HVAC fresh air supply from outside the car. So in a sense even though there is no "tunnel mode" officially as a mercedes feature, the button does do more than what you claim it does. It's a dual feature Thermatic panel button design to either activate/deactivate recirculation of cabin air or activate/deactivate recirculation of cabin air with convenience closing/opening of the windows/roof (if the button is pressed and held for more than 2 seconds)

However if you comb through the internet some of these codes can be reset through the instrument cluster by following a certain sequence that allows you access to a hidden service menu. I can't even remember if there's a battery reset in there tbh I haven't worked on this car in over a year but trust me get a decent scan tool it will make things like this MUCH easier to reset.
