I went down a steep road back in Atlanta on my mountain bike going close to 40 miles an hour. When you reach top speed, the bike feels like a rickety piece of metal. The speed causes you handlebars to radiate the slightest vibration to the point that it takes all your grip strength to hold on. The effects your ability to use your feel of your balance to stay upright. The wind also confuses your balance. The ditch to my right and cars passing me on the left also affected my balance. As the cars passed too closely there was a buffeting effect. I had a helmet on made out of styrofoam but if I dropped the bike, I probably would have snapped my neck and broken every other bone in my body. In the end, I managed to stay upright and had a great ride. The bad part was that after inspecting my bike, I discovered that a weld had broken on the frame. I was close to a shop that could fix it. By that afternoon I was going about .5 mph back up the hill. By the time I reached the top, my calves and thighs were burning like hell. Something I didn’t notice at the time going downhill was that I slid back off my seat to allow myself to have a lower profile. It really helped me maintain balance.

@maotora_tz used to check if the aerodynamics are good, if the air flow is better, the speed is much faster, its mostly tested on cars dince aerodynamics play a huge part but since they went for the record they had to test it for the rider just to get the best speed possible

its probably hard on the suspension with high speed impacts but not as hard as any serious downhill race with jumps, rock gardens, corners, powerful braking, that make full use of the travel and generate a lot of torsional stress I bet suspensions have a specific tuning for very high frequency, probably relatively soft with very little damping to filter high freeuancies. frame is pretty isolated it looks very stable, so relatively low stress. the rims, spokes, tires, hub bearings, axles etc are doing all the heavy lifting.
