This movie taught me a life lesson.. I am a sci-fi type of guy, I avoid musical movies, dramas, anything that isn’t stimulating enough for my mind.. that is the number one mistake i have made, watching only the genre that im interested in made it lose its magic and therefore basically life isn’t as enchanting as it was when i was a kid ; when id watch tv channels that broadcasted all genres of shows, movies.. as i grew older I learned to appreciate every genre and have patience, which finally will lead me to come full circle and become enchanted by tv, movies, once again..
When I saw this movie when it came out I started playing drums because of it. Today I am literally doing his Job and pulled the Smoke on the Water thing with my 11 year old band students. Inspiration is everything!
This is my favorite scene in the movie. Jack Black's charisma and chemistry with these kids just eats up the moment. He feels so genuine and his passion for music is his best possible vehicle for a movie. I get goosebumps (no pun intended) when the little kid asks "You mean we're not in the band?" and Jack hesitates with "Now hold up now..." This movie was a perfect little storm.
I watched this movie again tonight and am reminded how "similar" the music & arrangement was to "drum circles" i put on & facilitate. I go into schools, companies, organizations, after-school programs & outreach with as many as 80-100 of my percussion instruments. I often work with people who've never played musical instruments before. And it poses unique challenges when people have neither played, nor have much music aptitude. Fortunately for this movie, they had months to screen, cast, and teach these kids to play these parts. Compare that to my going into a school with an assortment of percussion instruments, and within 30-60 minutes, I've got kids rocking out. Age can make a big difference too, for when kids reach 14, 15, and 16 they’ve often had some music exposure & developed some skills.
You wish. Can you honestly say that he spelled _cello_ with a “ch” for that reason, and that reason only? Goddamn...the places that people will go to defend something, simply because they were proved wrong. I wasn’t looking for an argument, I was just trying to correct an obvious, but simple spelling error.
Jack looked like he wasn't originally planning to have everyone in the band, but a kid asked otherwise, so he found things for them to do... He does this several times throughout the movie. When someone asks if they could do something else that he wasn't originally planning from them, he says go for it.
Because in that instant he remembered what it felt like to be left out of the band. This movie has such a positive message that everyone belongs and everyone is good at something, it's just a matter of finding it. From anyone else it could come across as corny but with Jables, it's just fun.
+Katy Thomson Haha, yeah. The only thing that bugs me is that they're actually quite different (for example example, cello is tuned in 5ths and bass is in 4ths), so someone who played cello wouldn't be able to pick up a bass and know what they're doing right away.
Travis Johnson I've actually tried tuning an electric bass like a cello. I thought I would be the world's worst cellist because playing like that seemed very difficult.
@@eldieguito.2 One of my favorite parts is here Jack gets out of his van and Sommer is standing by waiting for him and its freaking freezing out and he says "Good morning Sommer." and you see the ice on his breath. Always cracked me up.
childhood me was like "wow thats soooo cool how its basically the same" then adult me after 10 years in orchestra as an upright bassist and bass guitar player is laughing at the joke but say "if only this was true
@@Awanading The joke of him saying "cello you got a bass" is that cello sounds like hello, but what the others were saying is that if you actually turn a cello on its side it's not the same as a bass guitar because of the way the strings are tuned
As a child who was born in 1996, and played piano since he was 5 years old, this movie really made an impression on my life. I found myself crying during this scene. There's not even anything sad about it, it's just the nostalgia that flows through my brain when I see this movie. It truly was an amazing movie, It made an impact on my life and it is still one of my favorite movies to watch to this day. What a masterpiece..
"you mean that we're not in the band...?" "Now, hold up now" "Just cause youre not *in* the band, doe'n't mean you're not _IN_ the band!" Childhood in three sentences
Didn't the rest of them work sound, lights, and gaffer types jobs? That's _IN_ the band. And if those in real life don't know their job well, the band ends up with a suck show no matter how good they are. One person can't _make_ the show, but one can screw it up.
They use that excuse in school plays. Just cause your not in the play doesn't mean your not IN the Play. I got to play lead dancer in my play, but others were relegated to trees and other inanimate objects.
Seeing Jack Black this young and seeing what he's like now, makes me happy that he's never lost touch with his inner self, he's still a kid stuck in a grown man's body.

I get goosebumps (no pun intended) when the little kid asks "You mean we're not in the band?" and Jack hesitates with "Now hold up now..."
This movie was a perfect little storm.
Jack black is an international treasure
Would of loved to have jack black for a music teacher.

Those kids deserve Oscar awards for not falling over in tears laughing out loud at Jack's antics.
my childhood...chelloooo....you've got a bass
Ewan G *cello
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cello
The Author --- Jack black says "chelloooo" cause its like he's saying "hello", which is why the original comment wrote it with a "ch"
The Author -- youre not smart for knowing how to spell cello, shut the fuck up
You wish. Can you honestly say that he spelled _cello_ with a “ch” for that reason, and that reason only? Goddamn...the places that people will go to defend something, simply because they were proved wrong. I wasn’t looking for an argument, I was just trying to correct an obvious, but simple spelling error.
The teacher looks like that one youtuber called jablinski
No that’s impossible they are completely different people
Naw, mate. He's too young.

Also kinda like the lead singer of tenacious d
Its Jack Black
3:55 that line has stuck with me for almost 20 years now and it never fails to make me laugh
THIS WHOLE MOVIE IS A MASTERPIECE
Jack looked like he wasn't originally planning to have everyone in the band, but a kid asked otherwise, so he found things for them to do... He does this several times throughout the movie. When someone asks if they could do something else that he wasn't originally planning from them, he says go for it.
Because in that instant he remembered what it felt like to be left out of the band. This movie has such a positive message that everyone belongs and everyone is good at something, it's just a matter of finding it. From anyone else it could come across as corny but with Jables, it's just fun.
@@FanboyFilms yes. That's kind of what I was saying. I 100% agree.

We all deserved a music teacher like this. My music teacher was Ms. Fowler. Hot aint the word. The reason i play guitar today.
You tip it on the side and cello! It's a bass!
Best quote ever😂
+Katy Thomson Haha, yeah. The only thing that bugs me is that they're actually quite different (for example example, cello is tuned in 5ths and bass is in 4ths), so someone who played cello wouldn't be able to pick up a bass and know what they're doing right away.
Travis Johnson I've actually tried tuning an electric bass like a cello. I thought I would be the world's worst cellist because playing like that seemed very difficult.
Katy Thomson The cello doesn't have the same tuning as the bass the guitar. The double bass has the same tuning as the bass guitar.

Rest In Peace Kevin Clark. You will forever be missed and thank you for being a great drummer.😔
“Lawrence is good at piano” gets me every time. I think he even popped the kid 🤣

@@Awanading The joke of him saying "cello you got a bass" is that cello sounds like hello, but what the others were saying is that if you actually turn a cello on its side it's not the same as a bass guitar because of the way the strings are tuned

This is the best movie ever. Jack Black is the most underrated artist of our time.
Morgan Freeman's favorite freckle I could not agree more. He deserves more credit.
I though this is the best jack black movie ever, but not another jack black movies..

As a child who was born in 1996, and played piano since he was 5 years old, this movie really made an impression on my life. I found myself crying during this scene. There's not even anything sad about it, it's just the nostalgia that flows through my brain when I see this movie. @@TamizPerdiz there's no difference. Thats the point, when u are a child every adult trolls u
@@MichelLedig ok, cool, thanks, I thought it was a hidden meaning. Nowadays things like that are always related to something else.
